Chapter 60: Point Blank
Chapter 60: Point Blank
POV: Luki Burope
The wall of fire started to disperse, our enemies came into view with Diggory already in range.
He swung his sword fast and violently aiming for one of his opponents neck. In real time I saw his sword go through and behead the fellow who was in range of the swing.
The group looked confused at first by the speed of our sudden assault, however that confusion turned into a burning rage.
"YOU FILTHY ANIMAL!" A man screamed as his comrade's body and head collapsed to the ground.
The soldiers close to Diggory started to surround him while the long range fighters started channeling their mana for an attack. All eyes were on him, which was a fatal error.
Diggory's body started have electrical wires forming around him, then he suddenly vanished from his place.
I quickly remade 30 of my ice needles and repeated the wind process to enhance their deadliness. Diggory then reappeared and already beheaded one of the long ranged soldiers leaving only one of them left.
A soldier that carried a lance was able to react to Diggory's attack and managed to thrust his spread directly to his stomach.
*CLANG*
Metal clashing was heard bursting through the air, Diggory had managed to block the attack.
I proceeded to fire my needles at the group with my main target being the last long ranged fighter. The needles reached the group yet all of them dodged perfectly, it seemed they never lost focus on me.
Fire started to light the darkness as I felt a massive amount of mana being used.
A large ball of fire was being formed with its target looking to be Diggory who was still fighting four opponents all at once.
He was borderline taking on the entire group by himself, however he was getting quite a beating. I decided to take a more aggressive stance to ease his load.
'Ice control, Lords Tears '
The temperature started decreasing at a rapid rate while large boulders made out of ice started forming 200 feet up in the air.
While the fireball was launched, I dropped my 10 boulders at the exact same time. They fell right on top of the group while I saw Diggory get engulfed by the fireball.
*BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM* *BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM*
....
POV: Azrail Diggory
After I enhanced myself with electricity I blitzed behind the group and managed to behead one of the long ranged fighters. Mages were a pain to deal with, I wanted take care of them first.
Once I made the kill, I saw a spear come aiming for my stomach.
I quickly lowered my sword and managed to stop the spear from piercing me, however the pushback I felt was enormous.
*CLANG*
As I was pushed backwards, I saw a sword coming for my neck to my left.
I went underneath the sword and swung back aiming for the man's arm. The man was grabbed and pulled back while my sword connected with a shield. The connection rang through my hands, I then received a hard kick to my stomach which caused me to yet again get pushed back.
While looking for the next attack I saw a bright ball of fire appear in front of me. I was too late to react and didn't manage to stop my electrical wires in time.
*BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM*
When I was engulfed by the ball it exploded because of my wires causing me to get sent flying.
While in the air I tried to brace myself for impact by balling up then I smashed into a building. The pain I felt on my back was immense, but I was able to survive.
'Fuck I'm rocked to all hell, I need to recover quickly.'
I controlled my breathing and started to slowly get up making sure not to rush.
After managing to stand I looked around me to see that I was inside a building and there was a giant hole in the wall. I knew that's the wall I smashed through and decided to peak through it at an angle.
The darkness seemed to have gotten worse with all the dust kicked up, I couldn't see anyone, but the odd part was I couldn't hear anything either.
"Diggory are you alive?" My boss said in a normal tone which shocked me.
"Where are they?" I responded back hurriedly.
"They are dead, wait didn't you see my last attack?"
"Didn't you see me eat an explosion point blank, obviously I didn't see it."
I left the building and started walking towards my boss's voice, after 100 feet I managed to see giant boulders of ice embedded into the ground. Blood was all over the ground, it was a gruesome sight to behold.
My boss shortly came into view, from what I could see he had no wounds while I knew I did.
"You look terrible Diggory, I think we should call today off."
I didn't want to be the reason we stopped today, but after that explosion my body was in a lot of pain. I also noticed my gear was basically torn apart and I had also lost my sword.
"Yeah probably... It's my fault, sorry about the gear as well I didn't see the fireball coming at all."
"Don't worry for a first timer you did well and don't worry about the gear. I will get you brand new ones tomorrow for work. We can start to head back now, are you able to run?"
"Yeah."
We started to run through the city making our way back to the giant wall.
Noises of multiple battles were still heard, most were extremely distant with a few sounding close by.
There was one particular sound that stood out, it was one I was very familiar with as well.
*VOOOOOM* *VOOOOOOM *BOOOM* *BOOOM*
Those voom sounds shook me to my core, they were the sounds artillery made. The terrifying part was you could only hear that specific noise if they flew over your head.
My boss noticed this as well, we started taking many more turns and started heading a different direction.
After that I could no longer hear those specific sounds which put my mind at ease.
*BOOOM*
A bright light filled my vision, I felt myself being lifted from the ground and go crashing into multiple walls.
Each wall slamming into my back was vivid, I started losing count for how many I went through. My back hit another wall, but it didn't break it which caused me to slam into the ground.
My ears were ringing violently while my vision was so blurry I couldn't see a thing.
I wasn't able to move, it was like a had no control over my body. My senses were numb as well, I wasn't able to feel anything. My mind was the only thing that was able to function properly.
I started flushing Ki out in waves to help my body, after a full minute I felt a foreign mana force enter my body as well.
I was repulsed at first, but after I noticed my body was healing I figured it was my boss. I let him finish his own process while I did my own and I finally was back to my senses.
I looked up to see my boss was sitting next to me, he looked to be completely fine which stunned me.
"How the hell are you not injured?" I asked, the man looked to be completely fine after getting hit by an artillery round which was unheard of.
"I'm not that physically weak, my people were a race made for war. That explosion was nothing."
"Fair enough." Was all I could say back.
I knew we were two different races, the differences were made clear to me after today.
I forget sometimes that my race is said to be the weakest of them all. I thought the gap would finally be closed, but that thought was smashed.
