Blood Contract!

Ban finished drawing the mysterious pattern again this time with no hindrance. He silently prayed as he watched the mysterious pattern drawn from his blood glow in red with his second attempt on contracting the Unknown Egg.

The Unknown Egg was really getting on his nerves. The Blood Contractor was supposedly a skill that allows him to contract a Beast with a 100% success rate as long as it is within the same Realm as him and no matter what Grade it is. However, it seems that it was not true as he could clearly not contract this Unknown Egg. 

However, he later calmed down as the Unknown Egg's information was still unknown. There was a high chance that the Beast, sleeping beneath that shell might be a Beast that was already a Realm higher than him from the start.

Ban closed his eyes as he tried to calm himself as soon as possible. He breathed in and out slowly to get rid of his heavy heart. 

His second attempt also failed so it was not a question why he felt frustrated. However, he contained it within himself as he thought of the rewards he will get if he really manages to contract and hatch this one. Not only was there a reward from the System, there was also a high chance that he would obtain a good Beast from this Unknown Egg. 

After a few minutes, he finally managed to calm his turbulent emotions. Without wasting any more time, he started drawing the mysterious pattern on the Unknown Egg's surface again.

However two consecutive failures bombarded him as soon as he tried contracting it. 

"Little Eva, come here!" Ban waved his hand as he beckoned for Eva to come over. He figured that ever since Eva's mood went down the drain, he was also getting more and more unlucky. 

Eva immediately hopped into Ban's shoulder without a question. Ban took off his Ant Mak and the Noble Moth Cloak and stored them inside the Dimensional Storage along with the baton. After doing that, Ban finally ordered her to move into his right hand to let her position right beside the Unknown Egg that he was holding on his left hand. 

Eva was confused about it but she still followed his instructions without any delay. Suddenly, Ban gave a peck on her cheek as he murmured something with closed eyes as if he was praying wholeheartedly.

Eva was confused about the sudden kiss, but she was nevertheless happy about it. Her mood became better as she sat atop Ban's palm, which somehow just felt comfortable and just right for her size. 

Ban's reason for kissing her was actually very simple. He thought that it might be Eva's mood dictating if he should have good or bad luck. He figured that giving her a kiss might lighten her mood. Aside from that, he treated it as his lucky charm, something that can wash away the bad luck that clung into him. 

"Please make this successful!"

After getting his lucky charm, Ban moved Eva on his shoulder again as he squeezed out another set of blood on his index finger to start drawing the mysterious patterns or diagram again.

After he ranked up, the Blood Contractor Skill was also updated.from the previous three per day to the current five per day. He already used four attempts earlier so this was now his only chance to contract the Unknown Egg for the day. 

It was a slight do or die for him so he did his best to make the mysterious pattern as accurate as possible to the one he saw on the knowledge injected by the System. 

The mysterious pattern he just drew glowed with a bright red light. This time, the glow was brighter than the glow on his previous attempts earlier. The Egg on his hand started to tremble and even Eva who was on his shoulder started to anticipate what would be the result. 

However, seeing that bright glow, Ban had already started to smile confidently. He recalled that it was the same brightness he saw when he contracted Eva two days ago. He was very confident that he already succeeded. 

However, just as he was about to start jumping in joy, the bright glow suddenly turned off, as if a burning candle suddenly blown off by a gust of wind. 

It was said that the greater the expectation, the heavier the sorrow if the expectations were not met. 

This is what Ban was feeling right now. 

His smiling face instantly froze the moment he saw that scene. Right after the glow shutted off, as if rubbing salt on the wounds, a System screen announcing his failure to contract the Unknown Egg suddenly popped up in front of his face.

His smiling face instantly transformed into a frown and frustration as he stomped his feet quite hard on the ground. 

"Ohh- come onnn!" Ban commended as he stomped his feet repeatedly on the ground. He wanted to cry but no tears would come out of his eyes at the moment. 

He raised the Unknown Egg up in the air and made a smashing motion towards the ground without any warning. 

Fortunately, Ban managed to restrain himself as he stopped his actions mid-way. He realized that there was no use of getting angry over something like this and there was no use venting it out on the Unknown Egg!

He closed his eyes to calm himself while giving himself a light slap on his face. 

While his eyes were closed, Ban suddenly felt a wet feeling touching his cheek. He instantly opened his eyes as he turned his head around only to see Eva's worried gaze. She was looking at him full of worry in her eyes, while her four arms touched his cheek softly and full of care.Ban figured that Eva might have just given him a kiss on the cheek earlier, the cause of that wet feeling touching his cheek. 

And with that single kiss, Ban's mood was immediately lifted as it returned to normal, and even happier than before with that single kiss from Eva.
