Chapter 72 - Heading to the City
Chapter 72: Heading to the City
Once Gu Zhao had his share, Zhao Ying gave the rest of the water to Gu Jin. The two of them seemed to care about each other a lot.
Gu Jin only took two sips of the water. There was still half a bottle left. Li Ran was impressed by their self-control.
Before this, Gu Jin had already removed the roadblock. So, Li Ran started the car and they left.
This was the first time that Li Ran had met celebrities. It was quite pleasant.
They were not as hard to approach as she had imagined.
She reminisced about the time when she used to watch them. They were very entertaining and made her afternoons enjoyable.
Some celebrities were very arrogant and would treat their fans coldly.
Li Ran glanced at the two of them.
‘People can be so complicated.’
As she drove ahead, Li Ran said, “Let me know if you see a place that sells cars so I can stop, or you can tell me where you want to go. I’ll bring you there.”
“Okay. I used to depend on the GPS a lot so I don’t really remember the roads. Unfortunately, my phone is out of battery and even if there’s electricity, there’s no signal. What should we do?”
Hearing that, Zhao Ying looked outside and said, “Looking at the GPS won’t help our current situation. We need to go to an area that’s less populated. Let’s just keep our eyes on the road. If we’re lucky, we might find an abandoned car.”
“I understand but if we get a car from a shop, we’ll have less trouble obtaining the keys.”
Speaking of which, Gu Jin actually did not know how to drive.
It was a little awkward.
Li Ran turned on the GPS in her car.
“Take a look. Are there any automobile shops nearby? If not, we can search at another place. I can bring you guys there. It won’t be a problem.”
Hearing that, Gu Jin immediately heaved a sigh of relief. He said emotionally, “Li Ran, thank you so much! You’re such a kind person! If there’s no one to protect you, we will!”
All of a sudden, a terrified voice could be heard coming from the backseat. It was Gu Zhao. He stared out of the car’s window while covering his mouth in fear. Tears were flowing down his face. He gripped Zhao Ying’s hand tightly and cried, “Mom! There’s a ghost!”
Li Ran looked at the rearview mirror. Nothing seemed wrong.
Then, she looked at the mirror on the passenger’s seat and finally understood everything.
Somehow, a zombie managed to climb onto the car. The zombie stared into the car with its bulging eyes. Its mouth was gone and its tongue was flapping backward due to the wind. Its face was also dirty and full of holes. The sight was terrifying.
Li Ran slammed on the brakes and immediately sped up again. After doing it two or three times, the zombie fell off.
Zhao Ying was covering Gu Zhao’s eyes. She took a few deep breaths before regaining her composure. The last time they encountered a zombie, Gu Jin was the one who dealt with it. He hit the zombie’s head until it fell over while she was crying the entire time.
That was because she had never seen one up close before.
Gu Jin tried his best to comfort Zhao Ying.
Meanwhile, Li Ran seemed indifferent but her heart was hurting. She just got the car. Now, it was already dirty!
The atmosphere in the car gradually improved.
However, the closer they got to the city, the more nervous they became. The place was a mess. It was obvious that an intense fight had occurred at some point.
Gu Jin swallowed his saliva. Although he was scared, he tried to calm everyone by making small talk.
“What happened to your car was a shame. We should stop somewhere safe and wash it.”
