Chapter 148: Sincere and pure eyes
Mu Bingyun took a deep breath, composing herself, before asking, "You didn't go through all this trouble just to help me, did you? What do you want in exchange for helping me?"
Although she was his 'Ancestor,' she didn't believe he had gone through all the effort of finding her and joining the sect purely to help her. He must have some goal in mind, but she didn't see it as a bad thing.
Yun Wuji withdrew his hand, the sacred light fading as he smiled sincerely and said, "Palace Master, you can't put it that way. While I do have something to ask of you, it's not a
transaction. Even if you choose not to fulfill my request, I'll still help you. After all, I don't want to see you die."
Mu Bingyun's breath caught for a split second. Looking into his sincere and pure eyes, she felt as if she were gazing at the purest soul in the world. As expected of someone with a sacred heart, his eyes were so untainted! Taking a deep breath, she smiled softly and said, "Just tell me your request. As long as it's within my ability, I'll help you with it."
"Thank you in advance, Palace Master," Yun Wuji nodded gratefully, then scratched his head as if embarrassed. "My request is, um... I'm not sure if Palace Master will agree to it."
"I would like to enter the Heavenly Netherfrost Lake for a while, and I also need profound jades, crystals, and cores of profound beasts."
'Tsk, if only I had the strength, I wouldn't be acting like a hypocrite right now!' Yun Wuji thought helplessly, all while maintaining a sincere expression on his face.
"You want to enter the Heavenly Netherfrost Lake?" Mu Bingyun was slightly surprised by his request, but it wasn't entirely unexpected. After all, the lake was the most sought-after place in the Snow Song Realm and the best resource for cultivating Ice art. She nodded and replied, "I can ask my sister about that. As for the profound jades and cores, could you tell me a specific quantity?"
Even though profound jades and cores were valuable, they still paled in comparison to the other precious resources in the sect. Although she found it strange that he only requested profound jades and cores, she decided not to ask him about the reason.
"I'll leave it to Palace Master; you can give me the quantity you think is suitable," Yun Wuji said, shaking his head with a smile, he added. "I trust your judgment."
He didn't know the full extent of the Divine Ice Phoenix Sect's resources, so instead of specifying a quantity, he thought it wiser to leave the decision to her. He believed that, given Mu Bingyun's character and Mu Xuanyin's doting nature on her, she would provide him with the maximum amount she could gather.
"... Alright," Mu Bingyun remained silent for a moment before nodding.
She had lived for 10,000 years and naturally understood what Yun Wuji implied, but she didn't mind. Simply forming a connection with someone who could wield Light Profound Energy was worth hundreds, if not thousands of times more than what he asked for. If any King Realm discovered his existence, they would likely fight to the death to obtain his allegiance.
"Palace Master, please lie down so we can begin," Yun Wuji said after they concluded their discussion, motioning toward the bed.
Mu Bingyun followed his instructions and lay on her back on the bed, her hands resting gently on her chest.
Yun Wuji stood beside the bed and extended his hand until it hovered just a few centimeters above her abdomen. A pure, dazzling light erupted from his palm, enveloping her entire body.
Concealed by the Light Profound Energy, the purifying power of the Sky Poison Pearl quietly entered her body.
Even though the poison in Mu Bingyun's body was strong, it was far less potent than the poison Jasmine had been afflicted with, and not as toxic as the devil poison Hong'er had once carried.
However, Mu Bingyun's poison had been in her body for a thousand years, and despite her efforts, she couldn't cure it during that time. Surviving for so long clearly meant she had relied heavily on an immense number of treasures to forcefully preserve her life. One could easily imagine how far the poison had spread over such a long period.
It was hardly surprising that this poison had completely invaded her soul body and had even taken form to become a poison spirit.
Mu Bingyun felt as though she had been enveloped in a warm, gentle embrace, her entire being bathed in the tender caress of the purest, most sacred energy. Her body and soul seemed to shed every burden, leaving her feeling weightless and serene. Her mind, free of all noise, drifted into a tranquil calmness.
She closed her eyes, allowing herself to fully embrace the sensation, as though she wished this blissful moment would last forever.
After about an hour, Yun Wuji withdrew his hand and said, "The poison has completely infiltrated your life veins, profound veins, bone marrow, and even your soul body. If I were to attempt detoxifying you hastily, it could lead to severe consequences, possibly even your death. To ensure your safety, I must detoxify you gradually while repairing the damage to your body."
"This process will likely take around a month," he said.
Of course, that wasn't true. With the combined power of his Light Profound Energy and the Sky Poison Pearl, he could easily heal her in mere minutes. However, he chose not to. First, this extended process gave him the opportunity to build a closer relationship with her. Second, he needed to conceal the full extent of his abilities. Displaying an astonishing talent was good, but revealing monstrous talent could invite danger, perhaps even leading to his demise.
He didn't believe that Mu Bingyun would keep it a secret from her sister.
Mu Xuanyin might not take action against him, but the Devil Queen was a different matter altogether.
He had to keep a low profile as much as possible, at least until he could meet the Ice Phoenix. "Haaah," Mu Bingyun opened her eyes and let out a disappointed sigh, it was unclear whether it was because of what he said or because she couldn't enjoy that wondrous feeling.
She moved to the side of the bed and sat on the edge, then looked at Yun Wuji with a soft smile. "I can already feel the poison that was tormenting me had weakened by a full thirty percent. I've lived with it for more than a thousand years, so a month is nothing."
"I'll leave then," she said, standing up. "I still need to report to my sister about this." With that, she turned and left.
"Master, you're finally out? Are you alright?! Did that bad guy do anything to you?!" As soon as the door opened, Yun Wuji heard Mu Xiaolian's voice from the door. His eyebrow twitched this little girl is so noisy and annoying.
He always thought the worst type of girls were the tsundere ones, but now, he had just
discovered a new type.
Now that he was alone, Yun Wuji took a look around the room. Its interior was spacious, but it felt especially simple and cold. Nothing particularly caught his curiosity or interest. He then sat cross-legged on the bed that Mu Bingyun had been on earlier.
As he closed his eyes, the lingering sweet fragrance of her presence on the bed filled his nose.
Yun Wuji pushed aside all distracting thoughts and focused on his cultivation. The energy here was tens of times denser than the one in the Blue Pole Star. The difference was like heaven and earth, and he now understood why Jasmine always disdainfully told him that the energy there was murky and low.
One day of cultivation here was equivalent to months of training on the Blue Pole Star!
As Yun Wuji absorbed the energy, he could feel his cultivation steadily increasing. At this rate, he realized that if he continued at this pace, he could break through to the 5th level of the Divine Origin Realm in about five or six days.
After making a quick calculation, Yun Wuji realized that by simply absorbing the energy in the air, he could break through a level every two months. Of course, this didn't account for the three additional levels.
His profound veins' ability to absorb energy was incomparably stronger than that of others,
allowing him to cultivate at a much faster rate. He never faced any difficulty breaking through from the 1st to the 10th level of each realm. It had always been the last three additional levels that hindered his progress, slowing down his cultivation speed significantly.
'It's so slow...' Yun Wuji frowned. While this speed would seem unbelievably fast to others, especially considering he was relying only on the energy in the air and not using any pills or other resources, it felt agonizingly slow to him. At this rate, it would take more than 10 months just to reach the 10th level of the Divine Origin Realm.n/ô/vel/b//in dot c//om
Fortunately, he had the Law of Nothingness; otherwise, his only option would have been to find a way to enter the Eternal Heaven Pearl and cultivate there for a few thousand years.
After Mu Bingyun left Yun Wuji's room, she sent Mu Xiaolian to her own room and headed straight to the Sacred Hall. Upon entering, she saw her sister standing with her back to her.
She called out softly, "Sister."
