Broken Tower Saga: The First Swordsman

Chapter 108: Dairyl's Teaching

Chapter 108: Dairyl's Teaching

"I did not know there will be this many students today," Dairyl whispered, looking at the four figures sitting cross-legged in front of her.

Wrik shrugged. With him, there were two extra figures came to learn. He had already asked Tanya and Byul, but they were headstrong in learning. There was another person, Lora who was not so earnest in her lesson.

Two days ago, Dairyl said she would help him if he needed any in the ways of designer. He was very sceptical at first. Why would someone disclose their secrets so easily, but then Dairyl assured him she would need his help later as well, though she did not indicate what she needed; she empathised it will be something he could achieve or she will forget about it.

He did not know what she needs exactly, but he could guess a little. He was not stupid enough to throw away a chance like this, and he had no problem helping her either, as she claimed she would only ask something within his bottom line.

"Sister Dairyl, should I make tea," Lora asked. She was sitting between Byul and Tanya with a distressed face.

Dairyl looked at the teenage girl while clicking her tongue. "You can," she said. "But you will not be free from your training after that. You will train alone until I help them."

Lora's expression turned ugly as she left slowly to make the tea. Among the things she loathed the most, men and lessons were at the top.

"So what do I do with you two?" Dairyl asked, glancing at the pair of Tanya and Byul. She had already noticed they were not anyway related to the occupation of a designer. She just wanted to know why they were here. If it was just curiosity, there would be bored soon, and if it was a proper yearning to learn, then she had to explain a lot. And those explanations would not end today.

Byul did not answer, gesturing with her eye to Tanyawho opened her lips. "We won't bother with anything, only listen to explanations from side."

Dairyl looked at Wrik, noticing no dissatisfaction on his face; she agreed as well. "Well, it may not be any help to you, but a few hours doesn't hurt," She said and looked at Wrik again. "First tell, how far you progressed, and where your problems are?"

Wrik flustered a little. He had not practised the scripts for the last week at all. It was not because it was difficult or anything, just he got bored practising alone. "I know all the Elneo characters, but I had some problems in Elnin script." he said.

Dairyl frowned. The answer Wrik gave her was too vague any designer apprentice would give. "Can you write it?" she asked.

"I have not tried before, but I think I can." Wrik did not understand what Dairyl was thinking, answered.

Dairyl shook her head. It was as she had thought. "So you know nothing," she whispered. "Tell me how you learned the scripts?"

Wrik rubbed his hair unconsciously. "Well, I bought the class advancement crystal from the omega store."

Dairyl was surprised a little. Though learning from the integrated data was not a process she follows, it was the trend in the Maha Tower for hundreds of years. Then suddenly she paused on her thoughts and asked again.

"Wait, does it mean you learn it on your own?" she asked, and the nod from Wrik confirmed her speculations. She pondered for a short moment to open a fountain pen from her bag.

"What is that?" Wrik asked, eyeing at the fountain pen on the palm of the teacher.

"It's a designer disk and also known as the carving pen," Dairyl answered, and gave it to Wrik. "Let's see how far you have progress."

Wrik took the pen like a designer dick without much understanding. The first thought he had of the disk was that it was heavier than it looks. The surface was black, smooth, and cold. This should be the pen to write the scripts.

Meanwhile, Lora brought in the herbal tea and served it to them. When she noticed the pen on Wrik's palm, she yelled, "Why are you holding sister's pen? Give it back quickly, you will break it."

"Lora, don't be rude," Dairyl eyed little girl. "I gave it to him."

Lora pouted hearing that. "But you never gave it to me to play," she protested.

"Because it is not a thing to play," Dairyl said. "Now sit down and do your training."

Lora could only follow, she sighed and glared at Wrik before starting meditating.

Wrik did not mind the glares from the little girl. In these five days he had already got used to it. "What does it call Designer disk?" he asked, clearly thinking it was just like a fountain pen, only lacking ink.

"You will know if you try it once."

"How do I use it?" he asked, even though he could guess how to use it, but this thing looked quite expensive. It was best to know the proper way before trying.

"Sip in a little of your consciousness into it and try to write, infusing a little mana," Dairyl answered. Seeing he was still hesitating about where to write, she said again. "Just write on the stone, don't think too much, just concentrate on writing each stroke continuously."

Wrik nodded and followed. He sipped his consciousness into the designer disc as he infused mana into it. Just as he was about to write on the stone, a ray of disc appeared below the pen. In the large circle, there was also a small point perpendicular to the pen. With just his thought, he could enlarge the lessen region of the disc. He got why it was called a disc now.

Without delaying further, Wrik started to draw the first strokes of the Elneo scripts. The shape was a continuous line, then a down and again a continuous line in the opposite direction. Just when Work finished drawing, the line starts to vanish from the endpoint to where he started.

Wrik did not know if he did wrong or right, so looked Dairyl for further instructions. But she had the expression that told nothing.

"Continue," she said.

Wrik nodded as he drew the 72 characters he knew of the Elneo script. And the occurrence was just the same. As mana was not a permanent ink, it dissolved within a few seconds.

The three pairs of eyes were on his drawing. While Tanya and Byul know nothing about it, Dairyl had mastered it long ago.

"How was it?" Wrik asked Dairyl.

Dairyl said nothing immediately. She thought about what to say before opening her lips. "For your first time trying to write with no instructor, it was more than promising."

Wrik sighed in relief. 'Guess without even training I'm quite good at it.' he thought, but the next phrase from Dairy choked his pride.

"But they were all wrong."

"Pfft," Byul and Lora laughed out at the same time.

Wrik glared at them to notice Tanya was smiling as well while the other two covered their lips with their palm.

"Sorry," Byul gave a dry apology.

"Lora, is your training over?" While Dairyl gave a stern look to the little girl, which silenced her again.

"What did I do wrong?" Wrik asked. As far as he was concerned, the characters he drew were almost identical to the Elneo scripts, but he could not say they were all right. If not, there will be omega designers like peanuts.

"You did nothing amiss, it's just you don't know how to write it." Dairyl finally said.

Wrik tilted his head a little, frowning. Then how do he write it? Before he could ask Dairyl answered.

"As I said, it was more than promising for your first try. Let me show you the proper way to write it." Dairyl said, asking for the designer disc.

Wrik gave the pen to Dairyl, who barely stoked on the stone continuously in a second. Her stroke was graceful, though it was almost identical to his there was no overflow as it glowed brighter than his. Then she gave back the pen to Wrik.

Even after a few seconds, the character she wrote did not dissolve like his.

"Even though I used an inconsiderable amount of mana, the character would stay like that for about a couple of hours if there's nothing wrong. That's the charm of Axi Scripts." Dairyl said. "Try to dissolve it with your mana."

Wrik did not understand much but followed unconditionally. He put pressure on the character with his mana as the rune started to bleak. But surprisingly, it did not vanish like the one he made, it bleak out to dissolve entirely at the same time.

Wrik's eyes shone. He got what he needed to achieve. He looked at Dairyl to ask again. "Can you show me again?"

The Axi scripts are a important part of the mafic system.
