Chapter 205: Palkus’ Journey! 17
"Palkus! Are you alright?!" Allan shouted while he and his party ran towards Palkus.
When Palkus used his technique against the nightwatcher, he slashed through a large area of the cave, making a new section entirely.
"Oh, I'm alright. You guys gotta look at this." Palkus turned to see the group running towards him from below and comforted them before he said.
"What's up?" Adena asked.
"It dropped something." he said, looking right in front of him. The nightwatcher was nowhere to be seen.
"Where is that thing?" Lorea asked when the group was right next to Palkus.
"I don't know; it just disappeared into black mist after I killed it." He replied.
"That's crazy! You just killed an EX-rank while you are just an S-rank!" Tuskas shouted in amazement.
"Haha, well, I should at least be capable of this much." Palkus replied, scratching his head.
"So what did it drop?" Adena, annoyed that the group was talking nonsense, asked about what she thought was more important to know.
"Uh, it dropped this mana crystal thingy and..." Palkus stopped.
"What?" Allan asked; however, instead of replying, Palkus got up, looked right at Azeroth and then started walking towards him.
"You might want this." he said as he handed him a scroll.
"What is it?" Azeroth, wondering what this scroll was about, opened it, but when he saw it, his eyes opened wide.
"H- how can this be? Is this even possible?" He asked, not believing what his eyes were seeing.
"I don't know, but if this thing is from a different world, then it shouldn't work under the same rules as us." Palkus replied.
"You might be right." Azeroth agreed before he looked at the scroll once again, his eyes displaying his deep thoughts.
"Hey, don't keep us waiting, what's that thing?" Adena asked.
"It's a reset scroll." Palkus replied.
"A reset scroll? Never heard of it." Adena said.
"Yeah, it's not weird that you don't; it's a scroll that resets one's conditions." Palkus replied.
"A scroll that resets conditions? How can such a thing even exist?" Lorea shouted in confusion.
"It shouldn't." Azeroth replied.
"Young Palkus, are you sure you want to give me this? Such an entity won't appear in this world anytime soon, and even if it does, I doubt it would ever drop such a thing again." Azeroth asked, his face showing utter seriousness.
"If I had a need for such a thing, then I am not worthy of being master's disciple." Palkus replied.
"Haha, that goes for me too." Azeroth, hearing the young man's words laughed.
"Not to mention, you will become an F-rank again." Palkus added.
"What?" The group shouted.
"What's with this crazy setback?" Lorea added.
"It's really a fair price to pay for such a chance. and rising up from an F-rank is but an easy thing to do with all the knowledge I have now." Azeroth said.
"True." Adena nodded.
"You're right." Palkus said.
"Well? What are you waiting for? A future of endless glory is waiting for you." Palkus looked at Azeroth and smiled.
"Haha, I guess you're right; there's no need for me to think any further." Azeroth laughed, then without wasting a single more second, he shredded the scroll.
A flash of golden light swiftly appeared around Azeroth's body and disappeared.
"Oh wow, it certainly did its job." feeling the weak mortal aura around Azeroth, Palkus was sure that the scroll did its job.
"Well, let's take you to C-rank before we go back to town." Palkus added.
"What are you talking about? It's true that it wouldn't take as much XP to reach C-rank but it's not to the point where he could do that in one day." Lorea said.
"Haha, you'll see." Palkus said, laughing because the party didn't know that they were bestowed with the XP multiplier unique skill by Draco.
And they sure did see. On their way back, Azeroth just had to finish a few B-rank monsters. Palkus got to death's door, and he went all the way up to C-rank.
"Let me check your conditions. Oh, haha, it seems like we can even get you up to B-rank." Using his analysis on Azeroth, who had just finished maxing out his level again, Palkus saw the conditions and smiled.
Azeroth only had 2 conditions: one, reaching max level, and two, killing 100 B-rank monsters.
The reason he had two instead of three was because he had already reached all the way up to S-rank and now he's just tracing back. This was also the reason he didn't need to evolve every time he reached max level and just straight away jumped ranks.
However, there was one slight problem, when he reaches S-rank once again, he would have harder conditions than he first did.
"Wait, wait, wait." Adena suddenly stopped Palkus.
"First, this guy goes up three ranks in one sitting and even reaches max level while we are on our way back, and now you're telling me you can see one's evolution conditions, and he can reach B-rank before we leave the forest?" Adena couldn't believe her eyes, nor could the others who were on the side, opening their eyes wide in disbelief.
Yes, some of them knew Palkus and Azeroth were somehow connected to the newly ascended celestial, but wasn't this a little bit too much? Wasn't this too broken?
"Ah, yeah, pretty much." Palkus nodded.
"Alright, I'm done. You guys do your thing fast; I wanna go back home." Adena just gave up, not bothering with Palkus and Azeroth anymore.
"Haha, you guys just go; we will be behind you when you reach the city." Palkus said as he exchanged glances with Azeroth and the two of them vanished.
The party looked at the place where the two were just standing and then at each other.
"I guess we underestimated him a little too much." Lorea said.
"Far too much..." Allan replied.
"Let's go. I'm really too tired for this." Adena added.
