Chapter 207: Palkus' Journey! Pause
"A mana crystal?!" Valentein's eyes opened wide as she turned to look at Palkus.
"Show it to me; show it to me." She immediately turned energetic as she urged the young man to take out the crystal.
Palkus, seeing her enthusiasm, did as told and brought out the mana crystal that was larger than a table and made it float once again.
"Ah... What a beautiful crystal! This is indeed the mythical mana crystal of old. In fact, this one might be bigger than the first one." Valentine exclaimed.
"Yeah, as far as I know, this one should be the biggest to appear in this world; most other hell entities were SS-rank at most." Palkus nodded.
"Oh, you know your stuff." Hearing Palkus speak, Valentine looked at him in slight surprise.
"Well, this much is necessary." Palkus smiled. Flashbacks of how all the knowledge of this world was inserted in his head in a single sitting passed through his vision.
'To train your mental fortitude, he said. So I would be a man, he said.' Remembering the words of his master, Palkus almost cried. Unfortunately, he had no tears left... because he lost all of them to become a man.
"If you know that much, then you should know the wonders we can make with this beauty over here." Valentine, standing from her seat, said. Then she walked towards the mana crystal.
"Yeah, the last one revolutionized smithing and had the dwarves delve into the art of mechanics that they later decided to only use in the prison." Palkus nodded.
"Yeah, and that one was only an S-rank. The unique properties of this crystal make it so no artificially made one can hope to compare, but by using it as a blueprint, we can make tons of other EX-rank mana crystals." Valentine explained, touching the surface of the mana crystal as if it were the most valuable thing on this earth.
"Palkus." Valentine suddenly turned to gaze at the young man.
"Yes?" Palkus tilted his head slightly, not knowing what the guild mistress wanted to say.
"You have the power to take machinery to the next level, and I'm sure you have the capabilities to do so. So, I beg of you, make very good use of it and make our planet, Portalia, proud." Valentine asked.
"..." Palkus looked at her for a second, not expecting the always goofy and lazy guild mistress to say such words.
"Don't worry. If I cannot do this much, then that means I'm walking on the wrong path." Pakus said with a smile.
"Very well. I will give you your reward soon. I believe you weren't helped by the party when you killed it, right?" Valentine returned to her desk and asked, changing into her business mode.
"Yes, I had them stand aside; however, throughout the way there, they exterminated a lot of beasts." Palkus replied.
"Alright." Valentine nodded.
After a few minutes, Palkus stored the mana crystal back and walked out of the room after receiving his payment in the form of a ring once again due to how large the amount was. Emily, who was waiting for him, followed after.
"So... Miss Emily." After gathering his courage, Palkus stopped and called Emily, who was just a bit behind him.
"Yes?" Emily, not expecting Palkus to call her, looked at him and stopped too.
"I was wondering when your shift ends." Palkus turned to gaze into her eyes and asked.
"I only got my morning shift today so in three hours, why?" She asked, trying to calm herself down and hold her blush. Palkus' gaze was making her feel weird.
"In three hours... Alright, that will be just perfect." Palkus thought for a bit and said.
"I'll be having lunch by then; would you like to join me?" He looked back at her and asked.
"Eh? Uhm... Sure, I can do it." Emily, not expecting Palkus to ask her out, was stumped for a second, but then she agreed by tilting her head.
"Alright, I will come pick you up then." Palkus nodded and the two walked down before he walked out of the guild.
'HEEEEELL YEAAAAH!' The second he got out, he raised his fist to the sky victoriously and then happily walked away. His goal? to reserve the restaurant.
And so the young man started his mission to pocket his first beauty. There was this nice Elven restaurant in the middle of the city, and seeing as he had all the money in the world to do whatever he wanted... Well, he reserved a room for the both of them.
When the hours passed and it was time for Emily to finish her shift, Palkus was right there waiting for her. The lady got out, not in formal dresses but casual, and asked the young man to lead her to her house so she could dress up; however, Palkus refused and changed his plans to visit a good clothing store first.
They went to the clothing store and both of them ended up buying a few sets; then they walked around the city and then went to the market. They ate all kinds of delicacies, including ice cream, and throughout their time there, Palkus showed his funny side and had a blast doing so.
Then the two walked all the way to the sea. They spent quite some time there and after that, Palkus rented a carriage temporarily and rode it to the restaurant. They got to their rooms, and each one ordered what they liked.
Palkus, however, was surprised that Emily knew a lot about this restaurant, but when he asked her about it, she told him that she always wanted to come here and even recounted how she acted as if she were a guest here sometimes when she was by herself in her house.
By the end of the date, the two got to know each other more and got closer. They both liked the time they spent together and even went as far as planning the next one for 3 days later.
