Chapter 116 - Shopping
After selling the skill stone, Aren left the store.
His next target was to buy weapons and turn them into gears. After all, he had 8 whole empty slots in his Armalist Drive.
After asking for the shop's direction, he started walking while thinking about what to buy and arrived at the shop after five minutes.
{-Moonshine Armory shop-}
Aren entered inside, a staff approached him asked him what he was looking for, and Aren answered, "shields."
He had 18240 gold coins and 8 gear slots. So, he had decided to buy some shields and turned them into gear so he could manipulate them to defend himself.
Naturally, he had decided to buy some other items as well, but first, shields.
"What rank of items are you looking for?"
"Platinum-tier," Aren answered.
"Please follow me to the 2nd floor."
...
After arriving at the second floor and going to the [Defense] section, Aren saw many types of shields on display.
After looking at a few shields, he decided to buy the best one that caught his eyes.
-----
[Crystal Hexa Shield]
-Rank: Platinum-tier / High-grade.
-Requirement: 100 CONT, 100 STR.
-Perks: +15 CONT, +10 STR. Fire, Water, Earth, and Wind resistance increased by 100.
-Defense: Phy. [1010], Energy [1800].
-Trait:
1) Aura of Resistance: Have a certain chance to negate the status conditions like stun, paralyze, burn, etc., from the user. Have 5 minutes cooldown once this passive trait triggers.
2) Crystal Barrier: Infuse 1500 spirit energy into the shield to conjure a barrier with 2000 Durability within a 3-meter radius around the shield. Barrier's defense values are half of the shield's value. [10 min cooldown.]
-----
Aren liked this shield and felt that it would turn out really good after transforming it into an Articule Gear. Although he didn't meet the STR requirement, it wouldn't matter after he uses the <Gear Enchantment> skill on it.
The price was a bit high. Aren noticed that the gold-tier items had their prices set between 400-800 while platinum-tier items had their prices ranging from 1000-4000.
A big jump despite being just a one-tier difference.
However, the shield was really powerful and useful despite having a price tag of 3910 gold coins. So, Aren didn't hesitate to buy it.
After completing the purchase and putting the shield into the inventory, Aren said to the staff man, "next, I want a chain-type weapon. Show me the heaviest chain-type weapon you got."
"Rank?"
"Platinum-tier," Aren said.
"Alright, follow me, please," the staff man said as he led Aren to a different section on the same floor.
The shop was quite big—at least 3000 square feet. It also had five floors on top of that.
...
"This is the heaviest chain-type weapon we got, a chain whip. Please take a look," said the staff man as he pointed at dark-silver chains with golden patterns.
"The other chain weapon is chain-sickle, but its importance is on the sickle-part and is not as heavy as this one."
Aren nodded as he looked at the chain in front of him.
-----
[Legumeta Chain Whip]
-Rank: Platinum-tier / High-grade
-Requirement: +120 AGI, +100 STR.
-Perk: +20 AGI, +10 STR.
-Attack: Phy. [3000-4000]
-Trait:
1) Sound Slash: Breaking the sound barrier with the chain whip's attack will release a sound slash. The sound slash will consume 1000 spirit energy when the user manages to execute it. Sound Slash Damage: 8000-15,000 sound damage that will pass through the normal physical defense. Effective sound slash's range: 50 meters.
-----
"Have you taken a look at its status?" the staff man asked after a minute.
"Yes," Aren nodded as he liked the chain whip.
"Then allow me to show you its use. After that, you can decide whether you want to buy it or not," the staff man said with a polite smile as he took out the chain whip from its showcase.
Afterward, he led Aren to the 1st floor and then to the training ground that was behind the shop.
Aren was surprised that they had something like this too, 'It looks like the shop is bigger than I imagined since they have such a large training ground behind the shop.'
There were many people here testing out items on dummies.
The staff man led Aren towards a dummy and stood 10 meters away from the dummy as he held the chain whip's handle. The chain whip was six meters long in length.
"I'm sure you know how to crackle whips since you are buying one, right? Anyway, you just have to crackle it correctly in front of your target. The sound slash's range is 50 meters so keep that in mind."
After saying that, the staff man circulated the chain whip around him for a round before whipping it in the dummy's direction and crackling it.
*Crackle!!...*
The sound barrier broke as a loud crackling sound reverberated akin to thunder. A sound slash generated at the spot where the whip's tail cracked and broke the sound barrier, which flew towards the metal dummy before hitting it.
-15,000
Aren saw the sound slash deal exact 15,000 damage to the dummy, indicating that this staff man executed it perfectly.
"That was the trait of this weapon. Naturally, you can also use the chain whip normally by whipping your opponents. You can use it to bind your enemies as well," the staff man said with a smile before he asked, "So...would you like to buy this?"
"Yep."
...
Aren paid 3780 gold coins for the [Legumeta Chain Whip] and then told the staff man that he wanted to buy some gold-tier weapons now.
Aren only had 10,550 gold coins left, while he still had 6 gear slots. So, there was no other choice but to buy gold-tier items.
Suddenly, he thought of something and asked the staff man, "are there any weapons that can work better the more they are in numbers?"
"Hmmm, there are indeed weapons like that. However, to use them, you need to have an innate ability or any path-related talent that can let you manipulate items without touching them," the staff man.
"Perfect! Please show me those weapons," Aren said with a smile.
