Chapter 185 - 185 A Familiar Scene
185 A Familiar Scene
‘Why did he come back here?’ Blake’s eyes were currently frozen at the sight of the muscular demon suddenly appearing at the front gate of the humanoid demon base that he had just ravaged.
Blake had made sure that he waited long enough for the muscular humanoid demon to go far enough that no sounds of the base being destroyed would be heard, and considering the speed that he saw the muscular humanoid demon and the entourage move, a few minutes were more than enough to do it. As that few minutes had passed, the muscular humanoid demon and the entourage would be long gone from the base.
Blake had also finished his job flattening the base quickly as not even an hour had passed ever since he blew up the front gate of the base and ravaged the entire base with Cyra’s flames and Robus’ fist while he himself dealt with the forest green humanoid demon rather quickly.
He should be safe, he shouldn’t have been caught by the muscular demon who had just departed from the base with a large entourage some time ago. Blake might not know what the muscular demon and a large number of humanoid demons were going to do, but it’s hard to think that such a large group would finish whatever they were planning on doing in under an hour.
It might be possible, but Blake didn’t believe that was the case due to how it seemed the humanoid demons were preparing to do something big, even with the muscular humanoid demon doing a speech before they set out.
And from the looks of it, the muscular humanoid demon had come back alone instead of bringing the whole entourage with him, it seemed that Blake’s initial guess was true, and the muscular humanoid demon coming back was caused by something else other than finishing the task that the entourage set out to finish before.
‘He somehow was able to know what happened here… Or did he know that the forest green humanoid demon was killed?’ Blake questioned this as he kept his eyes locked onto the muscular humanoid demon that just stood in place and had his eyes scanning the whole destroyed base without saying a single word.
The muscular demon had made a detour from the center base where he and the scrawny humanoid demon mostly spent most of their time when he was asked to help the forest green humanoid demon’s front.
And that detour was to check on the base of the flying humanoid demon, the humanoid demon from the deeper realm whose base had also been destroyed by Blake, and even the owner of the base had also lost his soul.
.....
The scene that he was currently seeing right now was almost a copycat of the scene that he saw back on that base. Though the dark flames were already absent since a few days had passed since then, the charred debris and the absence of flammable materials inside the base due to them having been eaten by the dark flames were still there for the muscular humanoid demon to see.
The half-collapsed buildings, the burning buildings, the death of the owner of the base, and the scene in front of him would be the exact copy of the same scene that he witnessed a few days ago in the flying humanoid demon’s base.
The muscular humanoid demon’s eyes then finally landed on the three demons that were in the middle of the base, in the center of all the destruction and chaos, seemingly being totally relaxed and with not a single panic in their eyes except for the wariness that they had for his presence.
The distance between the two sides, the muscular humanoid demon, and the trio was quite a distance away due to the trio being in the center of the base while the former was still standing at the front gate.
However, due to most of the buildings having been destroyed and their relatively good eyesight because of their improved physique, the two could see each other crystal clear.
And not only that, the muscular humanoid demon was even able to sense that the three demons that he was currently seeing with his eyes didn’t have the contract mark that he and his kin from the deeper realm had made to mark the native demons from the first realm that had joined their ranks.
It wasn’t surprising when one of the demons was clearly a demonic beast that was as huge as a building, but the muscular humanoid demon even squinted his eyes, despite his sight couldn’t be any more clearer because he could sense the absence of the mark on the jet-black humanoid demon standing in the middle of the trio and also the walking humanoid demon-sized fireball standing on the side.
And realizing that the three of them didn’t have any hostility towards each other, the question in the muscular humanoid demon’s head became even bigger due to the fact that he recognized not one of them was the same species or type of demons.
A demonic beast, a humanoid demon, and an uncategorized one or a variant. The three demons looked like they were working with each other.
Seeing the damage that was done to the base, it wasn’t hard to see the correlation between the dark flames that were spread all over the base with the humanoid demon-sized dark flame that stood in the middle of the base.
And also the destroyed buildings that had been crumbled down as if their huge size meant nothing, the huge demonic beast standing also instantly came to his mind.
The only unknown factor that the muscular humanoid demon didn’t know was the jet-black humanoid demon’s contribution to the base’s destruction.
However, that didn’t matter too much as he would soon find out himself what the jet-black humanoid demon was capable of doing.
With a single leap using his dominant leg, the muscular humanoid demon traveled the same distance as Robus’ leap, arriving only about a couple of dozen meters away from the group from the hundred meter line.
And the muscular humanoid demon didn’t even use his wings to lighten his body up since the wing had been folded at the moment his eyes landed on the trio.
Just a single leap of his, despite his smaller body size, had achieved the same result as Robus’ leap. If that display wasn’t enough to ring an alarm in Blake’s head, then he would have died a long time ago on the island filled with powerful beasts.
So when the muscular humanoid demon landed on his two feet easily despite the powerful leap he had just done, Blake’s hand had already reached out to his dimensional pouch, grabbing several rune formations that he could use to either save his life or defeat his enemy.
He didn’t know how powerful his enemy was, but trusting his instincts, the fight wouldn’t be as easy as fighting the forest green humanoid demon that he had just defeated.
“Are you the one who was responsible for all this?” A deep voice that was filled with a commanding tone, fitting for the appearance that he had, the muscular humanoid demon’s words traveled to the trio’s ears.
Blake had almost gone into his default setting to keep his mouth shut and stay silent when feeling a huge threat was about to come his way.
He had learned this from getting beat up as the more he spoke, the more beating he would get, and there was no way for him to retaliate as that was also a way for him to get even more beating.
However, before his mind could be clouded by such thinking, a hot, blazing sensation flared up in his body, pushing out the clouds that threatened to muddle his mind.
And the source of that blazing feeling was none other than the fiery nether that he got from Cyra. Different from the usual nether than ran through his body, the fiery nether didn’t only run at twice the speed of an ordinary nether throughout his whole body, but it also actively absorbed more nether from the environment, empowering Blake’s body and giving him more strength.
With the clouds in his mind driven off, Blake then realized that his whole body was currently covered by a semi-unbreakable armor, an armor made of dark earth, something that even dozens of humanoid demons would find hard to break even if they attacked the armor together.
There’s blazing power surging inside him, giving him the strength to be brave, there’s also a sturdy armor that lets him take an absurd amount of damage without injuring his body no matter how reckless he got.
Blake realized that he didn’t have a single reason to return back to his cowardly self despite the immense threat that he felt from the demon in front of him.
“Yes, we were the ones who did this.”
There wasn’t a single stutter in his words. His head was held high, eyes staring back at the muscular humanoid demon’s eyes without a single blink. His body also didn’t show any signs of compliance as his body squared directly against the muscular humanoid demon in front of him, hands spread to the side, holding his rune formations, ready to fire them at any second.
