Chapter 225 - 225 Collecting The Full Debt (1)
225 Collecting The Full Debt (1)
“Yes, you are correct, these babies do come from hell.”
“Please enjoy them as you wouldn’t get them anywhere else in this world.”
The dozens of darkness tendrils quickly latched themselves onto the police officer’s body. If there was a slight chance that he could run away earlier if he had enhanced his speed and ran away before the first darkness tendril manifested, now it was too late for the police officer as more than ten darkness tendrils had wrapped their bodies around him, stabbing their pointy ends to the police officer’s flesh to secure their grip on him.
“AHHH!”
A short scream of pain reverberated in the abandoned factory as tens of holes created by the darkness tendrils appeared on Jake’s father’s body, and added with the darkness tendrils wrapping around his limbs and body, squeezing them hard, blood began to seep out of the newly created holes, dying the pointy tips of the darkness tendrils red with his blood.
Just like any other victim of the darkness-binding spell, Jake’s father tried to fight and break away from the dozens of darkness tendrils pressing his body down to the ground.
But just like any other creatures who had tried, they all ended in failure as the darkness tendrils’ grip became stronger the more its target tried to fight back. And as the strength of the grip had become so strong that Jake’s father felt his lungs barely able to take the air, he stopped trying and finally accepted that there was no way for him to break free.
What he did instead was, “HURRY UP AND RUN AWAY! CALL FOR BACKUP!”
His shout became a wake-up call for the frozen police officer that did nothing other than watch as his colleague was stabbed by the unknown tendrils made up of pure darkness.
.....
The other police officer quickly opened up the door behind him. His earlier job was to make sure that the boy they caught didn’t run away, but right now, he was instead the one who had to use all his might to open the door and run away from the isolated space.
Unfortunately for the other police officer, before Jake’s father could even utter a single word, Blake had already begun drawing his next set of runes, and finishing it when the other police officer had only woken up from his stupor.
A single step was all that the other police officer could take before he suddenly lost the balance of his body. His right foot which was supposed to hold his body’s weight had suddenly failed to do its job as Blake shot a darkness bullet toward the man’s knee.
The police officer’s hand that was supposed to arrive by the door first to grab its handle was overrun by his own head as he crashed face-first onto the door handle. His body was also trained with mana, and crashing onto a steel handle was not enough to kill or fatally injure someone who had tempered their bodies with mana.
However, the pain of having his knees blasted by a darkness bullet, exploding the flesh and bones of the knee, and separating the lower half from the upper half of his foot was enough to make a grown man scream with horror.
“ARGHHHH!”
“Your voice doesn’t sound as good as the father and son duo,” Blake said as he heard the police officer’s scream enter his ears.
‘I wonder how that works. Their screams should be identical, but why did Jake’s and his father’s screams sound pleasing to my ears while this one’s scream just felt annoying?’
‘Wait, why would I even think about these things? It doesn’t matter.’
Blake then slowly walked over to the screaming police officer, his fingers didn’t stop moving as he finished another darkness bullet spell and held it in his hand, keeping it from manifesting right away.
“You’re annoying, but you didn’t do much. I am also not too interested in finding out how your soul tastes. So this is your lucky day.”
The police officer who didn’t even realize when Blake walked over due to the pain in his knee and only looked up at the last second after Blake spoke directly above him, was staring at Blake’s palm, not knowing what to say or what would happen to him next.
Fortunately, he didn’t have to think of anything as another hole soon appeared in his skull, shutting off his body completely as a darkness bullet shot past his skull as if it was a thin plastic wrap, not even feeling a tiny bit of resistance as the condensed darkness element shot through the floor.
Just like any other creature that had its life taken, a soul orb soon floated above the man’s body. But instead of the black soul orb that he usually saw, the man’s soul was mostly white, with black spots found here and there.
Looking at the new shape of soul that he had never seen before, Blake’s eyebrows rose for a split second before coming back down, “Interesting…” He muttered as he let the soul float there on its own while he turned his body back to the father and son duo.
The father was still safely secured under the darkness binding spell’s grasp, and he wouldn’t be able to do anything other than shout, Blake already had his life in his hands.
On the other hand, the child was still alive and well, with probably hairline fractures on his spine, which was not enough to kill or paralyze a child that had its body nurtured by mana.
Blake knew that the boy probably still had the ability to chant and activate a spell to enhance his body, but surprisingly, the boy stayed silent while laying on his back on the dirty cement ground.
And a thought came to Blake’s mind. ‘Did the screams from his dad and the other police officer scare him?’
Blake then walked over to the sprawled boy. Looking down at him from above, Blake could see that Jake’s eyes were closed. But instead of him being unconscious, the trembling in his eyes and the contracted facial muscles told Blake that the boy was actually trying his hardest to close his eyes.
