Chapter 111: Chapter 105: Territorial Prey.
Xiao Hui and Little Lone Wolf had broken through to Level 6 just in the past day or two.
After reaching Level 6, both wolves' strength allowed them to stand on their own within the Wolf Pack.
Especially Little Lone Wolf, full of ferocity and killing intent,
could probably even hunt down large prey at Level Seven and Eight on his own.
Taking them both out, they walked for a while and soon arrived at the scene of the battle between the Variant Species Grizzly Bear and the two Polar Bears.
The site was still a mess, but during the time that Su Lin and the Variant Species Grizzly Bear had left, quite a few daring Poachers had already arrived.
Most of them were Lone Wolves and Lynxes that roamed around,
these creatures, lacking fixed hunting territories and surviving on scavenged leftovers, had less restraint towards the scent of blood than the average Hunter.
Since the male Polar Bear's body had been violently torn apart by the Variant Species Grizzly Bear, its blood and innards were scattered everywhere.
This scene made the group of Predators feel a faint shock and fear,
after all, those were the remains of the Arctic Overlord. A Hunter strong enough to butcher a Polar Bear like that was an existence they could only look up to in awe.
Still, they cautiously stepped into the chaotic battlefield, feasting on the Polar Bear's remains that littered the icy ground.
It was just when they had started to approach the male Polar Bear's body that Su Lin arrived.
But seeing Su Lin's giant figure, over four meters tall, they fled in terror.
A Wolf Clan individual over four meters in size was beyond their comprehension.
Some Predators that still wanted to greedily tear off and carry away chunks of flesh quickly paid a heavy price for their greed.
With two furious howls ringing out, Xiao Hui and Little Lone Wolf shot towards these predators like arrows loosed from their bows.
The two of them were overwhelmingly powerful compared to these wandering, underfed Predators.
Within a short time, the battlefield quietened down, accompanied by several pitiful howls,
as two Lone Wolves and a Lynx were killed by Xiao Hui and Little Lone Wolf.
All the Predators who were still lingering quickly dispersed in a frenzy.
Particularly Little Lone Wolf, who initially moved with astonishing Speed,
almost instantaneously killed a Lynx, then turned and pounced on a wandering Arctic Wolf.
In a short time, he achieved the feat of hunting down two Predators.
These two Predators were themselves at Level 5, just barely stepping into that level, but still possessed a certain degree of strength.
One can thus imagine just how rapidly Little Lone Wolf's combat power has grown in recent times.
The killing intent surging within him and his ferocity that grew stronger when facing stronger adversaries were silently declaring that he was born a Hunter.
As for Xiao Hui's achievement, it was moderate and expected,
something Su Lin had long since grown accustomed to.
Next,
with a low howl, the two wolves began to laboriously drag the bodies of the two Polar Bears.
As the male Polar Bear had been torn in two, Su Lin also took half of the body in his jaws to lead the way.
For the current Su Lin, these several hundred pounds were not considered much weight.
But for Little Lone Wolf and Xiao Hui, it was still a sizable challenge.
Fortunately, the icy ground was slippery. After much exertion, the two wolves finally managed to drag the bodies back to the cave guarded by the two patrolling Wolfesses.
"Ao!"
"Ao!"
...
At the same time, joyful howls also rang out.
Su Lin's arrival was a surprise for the two Wolfesses.
One by one, they wagged their tails before him, also began to report the condition of their territory over the past few days in low howls.
The fierce tempest that had raged days earlier had prevented the two wolfesses from patrolling their territory.
However, in the past few days, they did venture out every day, and through the low howls of their report,
Su Lin roughly learned that even though he had led the wolf pack to the Dissolving Cave ahead of time, a significant number of herbivores had still died from freezing or starvation.
Also, due to the shared space in a single Dissolving Cave, numerous small-scale clashes had broken out among the different herbivore groups, leading to several casualties.
Those injured who did not survive the ice-cold blizzard were frozen to death in the cave.
This prompted Su Lin, after stockpiling the Polar Bear carcasses behind the wolfesses' den, to call upon the wolf pack to set out once again.
Food was always the top priority for the wolf pack, as in nature it often equates to survival.
He planned to drag back the corpses of the large prey that had died beneath the Dissolving Cave to serve as a reserve for the wolf pack.
As the strength of the wolf pack continued to grow and its numbers increased, the amount of food required would further rise.
Therefore, stocking up on food was imperative.
Not far from the wolfesses' den was that Dissolving Cave, and under Su Lin's leadership,
it took little time for the wolf pack to arrive at the cave where the herbivores congregated.
The Musk Ox Group had already taken the best spots in the Dissolving Cave, while members of other species were shivering on the edges, struggling against the piercing cold.
Meanwhile, the Moose Herd, relying on their thick fur and the nutrients in their humps, had emerged from the cave.
The storm had significantly diminished—a level the Moose Herd could now withstand.
However, other species still huddled in the cave, barely clinging to life.
Their conditions were critical, and even though the blizzard had weakened, they could not overcome it.
They could only wait for the storm to cease entirely before stepping out of the cave to once again seek mossy and shrubby regions rich in food to prosper and multiply.
Upon Su Lin leading the wolf pack to the cave, the groups of various species were clearly panicked, yet many lacked the strength to resist.
After all, more than twenty consecutive days of blizzards had nearly sapped all their physical strength and endurance.
And the moss in the cave had been grazed away days before.
"Yo!"
"Moo!"
The pitiful cries of the Reindeer Group and the strained resistance of the Musk Ox Group rose and fell in succession.
Facing these cries of rebellion, Su Lin paid no mind, instead inspecting the den's prey that had died or were at death's door.
For these prey that could no longer provide value to the wolf pack, naturally, they were all to be taken as a source of food.
He noticed that among those in the Dissolving Cave, with the exception of the Musk Ox Group which was still in relatively good shape, the other species groups had suffered severely.
The Reindeer Group, originally numbering about thirty, had endured heavy losses, leaving only twelve or thirteen reindeer barely alive.
Su Lin let out a low howl, signaling four members of the Wolf Clan to start moving, dragging all of the deceased prey out of the cave.
The four wolves, in peak condition and unaffected by the blizzard, posed a large threat to the slighted species groups.
Naturally, this caused a minor disturbance.
But with the ferocity of the Little Lone Wolf quelling the commotion, it was swiftly subdued.
For the Little Lone Wolf, now at the peak of its combat prowess, suppressing these feeble prey was no challenge.
The Reindeer Leader, still in somewhat decent shape, shook its antlers, trying to defend the Reindeer Group.
Yet, after a fierce struggle, the Reindeer Leader was grievously wounded and began to cry out in agony.
The leader's piteous cries broke the morale of every reindeer, causing them to start evading the wolves frantically, no longer daring to resist.
The Little Lone Wolf's claws and fanged teeth were drenched in fresh blood, its eyes embodying unspoken viciousness.
The Little Lone Wolf, now alone, caused the entire Reindeer Group to retreat repeatedly.
Under its domineering aura, the two wolfesses and Xiao Hui easily dragged the dead reindeer bodies out.
