Chapter 178: New Wind Base (2)
Chapter 178: New Wind Base (2)
"Let me go, I'm not infected!" a survivor was seen struggling with two other fully suited guys as they drag him beyond the fenced area. Anyone that got pushed into this side would eventually meet their end by turning into one of the zombies or eaten alive.
The survivor tried to resist, but it was useless. With four people working together to force him across the fenced area, he would eventually be shoved into that place no matter how much he struggles.
After getting thrown into that part, the survivor immediately runs around to search for a safe place, but it only took the zombies less than five minutes to get a hold of him. In a matter of minutes, blood-splattered, with the flesh thrown here and there.
It was the zombie's fight right now, for a taste of the survivor's flesh.
"This scene is still gory to me no matter how many times I look at it." one of the four other survivors said. He felt sorry for the pitiful guy, but he had no other choice. If someone is bitten were left unattended with other survivors for a while, he'll turn into an infected within half to an hour.
One infected was all it needs to turn this base upside down.
Throwing them into the zombie's gathering spot was the only option.
To the people on this base, this was a regular occurrence. Every single day, at least two people would be dragged and thrown into this area. Today, it might be the victim. But tomorrow, it might be the one that throws the people inside.
This place was not like the Wind Base, where Zhang Qin Feng can provide his people with everything they required. Here, food, water, and ammunition are limited. Nobody was allowed to skip the procuring day. They'll have to either work or went out to scavenge for the resources.
But weirdly, for such an extensive base with plenty of self-sustainable equipment, it shouldn't be a problem for them to manage themselves.
…
…
Zhang Qin Feng's group separate into three different teams. Queenie will be leading a team of 11 soldiers, Alex on another, and Zhang Qin Feng will be moving along with Satella and her team. Their motive here would be to cooperate with the local survivors to understand what kind of situation is going on here.
Saying that they're unorganized seems to be inaccurate right now. Based on how concentrated the zombies gathered over the central area of the facility means that the survivors were relying on the zombies to do something. As for what that is, they'll have to put in some effort to question them before coming up with his own assumption.
"Let's go. Remember, unless the survivors are firing at us, try to solve this matter peacefully. We need their manpower." said Zhang Qin Feng.
"Yes, Sir!" the others responded to Zhang Qin Feng and dispersed into two teams. Those remain with him, and Satella will be taking the road straight to where the zombies are gathered. It seems Zhang Qin Feng is curious to see what the local survivors are trying to do with them.
The path to the middle area was not too far from the facility entrance, but it still takes them close to half an hour to arrive. Of course, the reason for taking so much time wasn't because of traps or whatsoever. Zhang Qin Feng was delaying their progress on purpose to let the survivors guess their intention.
Since both sides had Luna Devices on their wrist, the others could do the same too if he can spot the others. Based on how the people were not stopping them from moving forwards could only mean two things.
First of all, they're unorganized. Hence, this made the survivors unable to either intercept Zhang Qin Feng's people or let them continue forward. As for the second option, it was much simpler than the first. The local survivors were waiting for their arrival at a specific place to bring down the invaders in one go.
The likelihood of the second option was higher than the first. This was also why Zhang Qin Feng allowed his people to go around the abandoned buildings and leave some markers. Those with a tag would be their safe house when they're forced to a retreat.
'Stein, are you sure this place won't have any of those sentry guns or whatsoever around? If we're making just a slight mistake, this will cost us the lives of no less than five to ten soldiers.' Zhang Qin Feng secretly communicates with the system.
[The system is 100% sure that there are no electrical defenses in this base. Through a detailed voltage scan, the system sees a very minimal electricity transfer around these places. The local might not even have enough energy to keep their food processor running]
Replied Stein.
'Won't this be a problem when we occupied this facility? A powerless facility with a bare minimum of energy… We might have to provide to them as well…' Zhang Qin Feng counted the number of pros and cons in taking over this place.
To him, taking over the base is not an issue. His concern is more on how good can this facility be.
[The system can assure that this facility is indeed built according to the floorplan. But there might be a few problems here and there from the abandonment by the builders after the outbreak. Furthermore, do not forget that this place might have changed hand from one gang to another]
[We won't know what really happened to this place until we question some locals. Let's get to the central area and see what actually happened to the local survivors here]
Stein continued.
"Feng, we're about to arrive at where the Luna Device is giving out a warning signal. What's your order?" asked Satella. Standing beside Zhang Qin Feng made her often curious about his choice of action. Sometimes, Zhang Qin Feng's decisions were out of what she had, and it usually generates the same or much better result than hers.
"Stay alert." Zhang Qin Feng replied.
"Since there's no point for us to keep guessing what each other had in mind, why not we come out and talk face to face?" Zhang Qin Feng shouted. It seems he wanted to get the attention of the survivors lurking around.
