Dragon's Wrath: The Cursed Returnee

Chapter 159 Mounts

"Charge!" Alvin shouted.

Ethan wanted to lead the charge, but he couldn't stand out so soon… it would be better if he went all out once everyone was busy and realized that they didn't have room to consider their pride in that situation… eventually, they reached the peak of the mountain, and then they saw the ghost armor charging toward them as well… they didn't see the numbers beyond, when they dealt with the first wave, but soon they began to push the enemies and then found a sea of them… an almost endless sea.

Those thirty rank B heroes flinched for a moment… they didn't recall a single time where they had to face such an army with those numbers on their side. They almost could feel that they were being outnumbered one thousand to one. Still, they forgot about that when they saw Alvin dashing toward the enemies and thrusting his claws at the enemies and slashing them up with armor and everything. At the same time, the two foreigners watched the sides for him.

Ethan swung his sword from one side to the other, and thanks to his newfound speed, his attacks were barely seen. If the enemies weren't so durable, few people would be able to see his sword in action…

In any case, even in his berserker state, Ethan was able to kick the main bodies of the monsters toward the shield attached to his left arm, and then he used Synthesize. He did that only now and then, but then he increased his speed when the nearby soldiers began to pass by him and reach Alvin.

You obtained 500 experience points.

You received 50 coins.

You obtained 500 experience points.

You received 50 coins.

"More experience and fewer coins, huh…" Ethan thought for a second while wondering why that was the case.

He didn't do that for long, though. Eventually, he increased his hunting speed since he could hear the sound of the other armies going down the other mountains to reach the other groups. Emily was watching the same scene unfold while he was surfing on the ground while using his magic and couldn't help but gulp. They had to hurry up; otherwise, the others would be in a bad spot.

When Ethan and the others reached the middle of the second army, he noticed that some of the monsters were starting to ignore them and then head to the valley in order to surround the others… that made him realize that someone nearby was watching the fight and controlling them. Still, before they could reach their destination, Ethan jumped toward them. Then he swung his sword down after activating Explosive Impact and Fire Enchantment.

In the next moment, the whole mountain trembled, and flames spread around a lot easier thanks to the dust particles in the air… and the enemies ended up melting alive.

Ethan didn't remember seeing ghosts melting, but it seemed that they had some level of physical form for that to happen… Regardless, a single attack destroyed dozens of them and slowed down many others.

Thanks to the fact that most heroes that fight at close range combat were hot-blooded fools, a lot of people copied Ethan and then used large-scale skills to decimate a bunch of the ghost armors. Even Alvin let the blood rush to his head and then enhanced his claws with magic. Each of his slashes now could hit several of the enemies and paralyze them thanks to the fact that his attacks were powered by electricity somehow…

Some heroes began to get hit more than others, and then Ethan threw his current shield toward the back of one of them, and they felt its approach and grabbed it. Emily saw that and then made another one and then gave it to Ethan. The hero who got that shield suddenly stopped being a bit pushed away by the attacks, and he only felt some power behind the attacks… Emily frowned when she saw that… even if it was a temporary buff, it was a pretty powerful one.

Iron Shield (Common) (+0)

Defense: 10

Durability: 50/50

Effects: None

Additional effect: Increases the defense of the shield by one hundred points. (3600s)

Requirements: 50 STR

When Ethan finished enhancing the second shield, he checked its status and then couldn't help but be surprised. He didn't recall that Synthesize had such potential… he used it a lot in the beginning after he learned it in the other world, so he wondered why he had stopped using that before. Did he get that strong without enhancements at higher levels? He didn't remember…

After just two minutes, half of the heroes had enhanced shields, and they stopped being pushed away. Standing at the top of the mountain while the monsters were trying to surround them, they only got a few scratches here and there… in fact, they began to spread around and kill the enemies even faster.

"Ethan! The others reached the valley!" Emily shouted, trying to get his attention in the middle of the chaos.

Emily didn't have any other choice but to shout. The sound of metal colliding in the area was deafening and endless. Ethan looked over his shoulder and confirmed that… the ghost armors also managed to climb down the mountain pretty fast… the mages on the valley began to use their spells to slow down their advance. Tornadoes, Ice Tornadoes, Fire Tornadoes. All of a sudden, it looked like the valley turned into a pandemonium since everyone that could use area of effect spells began to use them…

The remaining armies slowed down, and they began to decrease in numbers. Still, Ethan could tell that those won't last for more than five minutes… they had destroyed half of the first army, but even so, their hunting speed was a lot slower than he had imagined.

"I had planned to cross the armies with our quick advance, but this is…" Ethan furrowed his eyebrows.

Things weren't going as he had planned, so Ethan had to make some adjustments to his plans… Since the other armies had reached the valley, they had to disrupt their ranks there, and to do that, they had to get rid of the enemies on that mountain. Before he could reach an answer to that, Ethan suddenly heard the sound of some beasts suddenly appearing, and then when he looked over his shoulder again, he saw Emily summoning the mad oxions… her quick thinking was going to help them a lot and thanks to that, Ethan had an idea… When the mad oxions began to charge at the ghost armors, he jumped on one of them and began to ride it. The creature ignored him completely.

The mad oxions began to headbutt several enemies ahead, and Ethan split in half the enemies on the side… when a bunch of them were slowing down the beast's charge, Ethan bombarded them with ice spears.

Several other heroes decided to mimic Ethan and began to ride some of the beasts, even Emily, since that would make her save more mana. The damage that the group began to cause increased tremendously, and the ghost armors began to be wiped out a lot faster…

  Fatal Sword (Common) (+0)

Attack: 80 – 120

Durability: 150/150

Effects: When causing more than twenty percent of damage to the total of the target's health, you can make them lose fifty points of health for five seconds.

Additional effect: increases the sword's durability and attack power by three points.

Requirements: 150 STR

When Ethan split one of the enemies, he had the idea to use Synthesize, and then that was the result. He could use that in such a moment, and he could increase his sword's attack and durability just like that. In any case, that was another useful thing to know…

In the next two minutes, the group managed to wipe out the enemies. Only a few dozen monsters were alive, but they suffered too much damage on their armor thanks to the charge of the mad oxions.

"Turn around and face the beasts with all your might!" Alvin shouted while raising his right claw.

"WOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHH!"

The summoned heroes answered to his command by raising their weapons and shouting. In the meantime, Emily forced the mad oxions to turn around and go down the mountain with all their might. Almost half of them had been killed, but controlling thirty of them still made her feel like his head was about to split. When she finished the job, she almost fell from her mount, but then Ethan helped her… he almost stopped her with his hand, but at the last moment, he used the handle of his sword.

"... Thanks," Emily said and then frowned when she turned around and then saw Ethan staring at his right hand.

Ethan couldn't even help a friend in that situation without considering that he might cause more problems than help thanks to his powers… that made him feel more pissed than usual… for how long will that thing have to get in his way?
