Chapter 1296: Last Meal Together
Chapter 1296: Last Meal Together
Roddy pushed open the dining room door as he stepped on the sunlight that poured in from the window early in the morning. He was stunned by the scene inside the door. It had been a long time since the restaurant in the main building of the castle was so lively. On the left side of the long dining table, Bale was looking at a tablet. He should be reading an electronic newspaper. Beside him, Huck was slowly drinking milk and eating bread. Near the two of them, a few half-grown children were playing. If Horn was sitting at the main table, then in Roddy's eyes, it was almost the scene of their brothers having dinner with their father when they were young.
If there's anything wrong with this scene, it should be Hyderick sitting on the right. This man was dressed beautifully, as if he had just returned from a noble salon. He smiled at Roddy, but he did not make the latter happy at all. Instead, he felt as if he was being targeted by a poisonous snake.
Roddy snorted and walked to the middle seat. The butler Helsing brought him breakfast. Roddy stuffed his napkin into his collar and looked at Hyderick. "It's rare that our Mr. Hyderick would come for breakfast. Is the sun coming from the northwest?"
Hyderick smiled and said, "Come on, big brother. We're brothers. Isn't it normal to have breakfast together occasionally?"
"Oh? So you know we're brothers. I thought Mr. Hyderick had long forgotten about this identity." Roddy took a sip of milk, grabbed a piece of bread and sent it to his mouth. He ate rudely, to the extreme of Hyderick.
Hyderick drank his coffee gracefully and said, "What does big brother mean?"
"What do you mean? I think you should know better than anyone else, right?" Roddy snorted, "I was going to settle this with you when I came back tonight, but since everyone is here now, I'll talk about it here."
He looked at Bale and Huck. "Second, third. You probably don't know that Mr. Hyderick planned to murder a family member before colluding with Alexander. Do you know what he has done recently?"
"It's not simple. He has already hooked up with the federal government." Roddy slammed his palm on the table. "I thought your father was gone. At least you remembered that you were a member of Beskard. I don't want you to contribute much to the clan, but I don't want you to have such close dealings with federal officials in this situation. This week alone, you have met several officials in secret, including the head of the Intelligence Service, Goffin! "
Hyderick's expression did not change. He spread out his hands and said, "So what? It's just a normal social interaction. Big brother, you're too sensitive."
"Let your words go to hell!" Roddy took out a recording pen from his pocket and threw it on the table. "This is what you talked to Garfield about. Do you want Second Brother and Third Brother to listen as well?"
Hyderick's expression finally changed. "Big brother, did you ask someone to spy on me?"
"Fortunately, I did this. Otherwise, I wouldn't know that you betrayed the clan and betrayed me again!" Roddy snorted, "I was wondering why the other party seemed to have figured out our trump card in the recent negotiations with the Federation. So it was you who leaked the secret. Hyderick, do you still think you're Beskard?"
'"It's not that I don't think I'm a member of Hyderick, but you guys, including my father, don't think I'm a member of this family! Since you guys treated me like this first, what's wrong with me doing this! And big brother, it's not good to fight the Federation at a time like this!" Said Beskard.
"Bullshit!" Roddy couldn't help but roar.
The children in the restaurant were so scared that they cried. Housekeeper Helsing hurriedly asked someone to take the child away before Roddy continued, "I think you've forgotten about Beskard's pride. I misjudged you. I was expecting you to go back to the right path, but you're getting further and further down the wrong path!"
"I don't think I'm on the wrong path. That's just what you think!"
"Very well, Mr. Hyderick. You are still so eloquent." Roddy suddenly sat down and said coldly, "It's a pity that I don't have time to argue with you. I'm officially informing you now. Heidrick, you must stay in the castle from now on. As long as you step out of the castle, believe me, I will personally break your legs."
Hyderick's handsome face flushed red, "Roddy, you have no right to restrict my personal freedom!"
"I do. As long as I sit in the position of Patriarch, I have the qualifications to do so."
Hyderick roared and angrily left the restaurant.
Third Bell put down the tablet and said quietly, "I thought you were going to execute him."
"When I got these things, I really wanted to." Roddy shook the recording pen and sighed, "But we are brothers after all, and father is no longer here. If possible, I don't want to do that. This is his last chance "
Bell stood up and said, "I'm done eating. I have to make a trip to the surface, so I won't accompany you."
"How's the transfer going?" Roddy asked casually.
"Everything is going well," Bale nodded. "Our important assets, including the Magic Martial Factory, have been secretly transferred to District 13. Our companies and factories on the surface are just empty shells, and the Federation will probably be disappointed if they have any ideas about them."
"Well done, then let's begin evacuating the residents of Levin Town and move them to District 13. I will also evacuate the workers and guards of the castle. The one sitting in the White House's office is a fake. I don't know what he will do. In short, safety comes first."
Bell raised his hand to support his glasses on the bridge of his nose. "What exactly are you planning on doing about this? Don't you want to expose the real face of that fake?"
"This matter is too important. How can we act casually? Today, we are meeting with the heads of the major clans for the purpose of discussing and finally making a decision. This matter cannot be delayed any longer."
"Alright then, let me know if there's any news."
After Bale left, Roddy looked at his other brother and said, "Huck "
Huck raised his head and coughed. "Do you want me to evacuate?" He asked.
Roddy nodded.
Huck laughed, "What, are you afraid I'll be a burden to you?"
"Don't say that, brother." Roddy shook his head and said, "You've never been a burden to anyone, even if you can't fight for the family because of your body. But we've all seen your financial contribution to the family over the years. You're an important person to us, and that's why you need to leave early."
"I'm glad you said that, Roddy." Huck looked up at the ceiling and said, "Do you remember?" When we were young, we used to play hide-and-seek in this restaurant. Every time I hid at my father's feet, you couldn't find me the next time. I'm not like you, Roddy. Brave and strong. Not like Bale, calm and collected. I'm not as smart as Hyderick. Among us brothers, I'm actually a coward. I can only catch my father and not let him go. "
'"But now father is gone" Huck lowered his head and said, "So I think I should learn to be stronger and braver. I want to stay in the castle, and I won't leave as long as the castle is still there. Because I'm Beskard, and even the most useless one, I have to let others know that we, Beskard, won't retreat."
Roddy's eyes lit up. He laughed and said, "Since you said so, I won't force you. But when I'm about to run away, Huck, I'll take you away even if I knock you out."
"Let's talk about it then." Huck smiled faintly.
After breakfast and leaving the restaurant, Roddy looked at the empty restaurant. He thought that this was probably the last time the brothers had breakfast together, and sighed softly in his heart. When he turned around again, the gloom on Roddy's face had been swept away. A strong and hard aura was emitted from his body again. He strode away from the castle and got into the flying car that had been prepared for him early in the morning.
Three flying cars left the castle. In one of the windows of the castle, Hyderick watched them leave with hatred in his eyes.
The car drove away from the castle, leaving Levin behind and onto the road to the central city of Babylon. The road was quiet. On this quiet morning, there were only Roddy and the other three flying cars on the road. Just a few kilometers from downtown, Roddy, who was in the carriage, received a video call.
A screen descended in front of Roddy. In the screen was Alan's figure. He nodded at Roddy and said, "Good morning, Mr. Roddy."
"It's so early, Your Excellency President. At this time, I thought you were hugging a woman and sleeping soundly in bed." Roddy said carelessly.
Alan shook his head and said, "I think so. Unfortunately, things are busy, so I can't afford to be lazy and slack off." Well, Mr. Roddy, let's cut to the chase. I know Windsor Belo has something in your hands, and I hope you can give it back to me. "If you are willing to do so, I guarantee that Beskard will retain its current position and that the Federation will fully support you. I want to be promoted to a wealthy family in the near future."
Roddy narrowed his eyes. "Mr. President, you're admitting your identity by saying that."
"Mr. Roddy, is identity that important? Am I Mobbit, or someone else? Do you think it's that important to the Federation, to the residents of this city?" Alan shook his head and said, "No, it doesn't matter who I am. What matters is what I can bring them. Will Mobbit support you, Beskard, at this moment? He won't, but I will!"
