Edge of the Apocalypse

Chapter 1330: Federal Assembly (I)

Chapter 1330: Federal Assembly (I)

Suddenly, a knock on the door woke Roddy up. He realized that the sky outside the window was already shining and a new day had arrived in the world.

"I hope there's some good news today." Roddy muttered to himself and called out, "Come in." The door opened and a man dressed as a mercenary said in a low voice, "Mr. Roddy, the meeting is ahead of schedule. We'll be out of the horse soon. I'm afraid you won't have time for breakfast." On his sleeve was the logo of a black eagle, apparently a member of Beskard's surface army, the Black Eagle.

Roddy stood up and said, "Give me a minute."

The guard nodded and left.

He opened the wardrobe beside him, took out a military knife, shaved his beard in front of the mirror in the wardrobe, and put on a suit that was already ironed straight before he walked out of the door. Outside the door, an indescribably spacious hall was packed with Black Hawk guards. The guard captain who had just reported to him made a "follow me" gesture. Roddy left the room under the crowd of guards and walked into a narrow alley.

There were already several old off-road vehicles on standby at the alley entrance. These old-fashioned vehicles didn't have much of a bad performance. After that, they had the technicians in Black Hawk carry out some hidden modifications. Although they weren't comparable to magic energy chariots, they were still enough to meet small armed groups on the surface. Behind the off-road vehicle was an inconspicuous magic energy flying car, and Roddy drilled into it. The carriage was unexpectedly spacious. At this moment, the captain of the guards in front whistled, and the rough engine sound of the jeep rang out.

The convoy set out.

Looking from the car, one could see the low buildings in the surroundings. This was a small town on the surface. It was very ordinary. The people in the town were all genuine residents of the surface. They were born on the surface and died on the surface. The only difference was that the whole town served Beskard. There were still a few towns like this in Beskard's hands. Every clan would have their own secret stronghold, and Sly Rabbit still had three acupoints, not to mention these big clans.

Looking at the people passing through the windows, it seemed that the invasion of Nelm had not had much impact on them. This morning, there was a market in the town. The people in the town, especially the children, all had excitement and anticipation on their faces. Perhaps they hoped that they could get what they needed at the market, right? Roddy couldn't help but sigh in his heart. Such simple happiness would probably disappear very soon. As Nelm's impact on the planet intensified, the major cities on the surface would surely be affected first, and then elsewhere, and small towns like this would be hard to escape.

Unless the people of Nelm can be expelled. This was not impossible. After all, the Earth was no longer the undefended planet from more than 400 years ago. Whether it was technology or the number of experts, the Earth was not much inferior to the people of Nelm. However, the problem was that the time these intruders took to cut in was simply too perfect.

The invasion of Nelm coincided with the fact that both Marshal were on the interstellar defensive line, which was extremely bad for Earth and was why they were able to take down Babylon so smoothly. Otherwise, with the Golden Lion and Sirius guarding them, and Capulo and Windsor Belo, how could the people of Nelm easily win?

Now, during Roddy's three days on the surface, he received information that Capulo and Windsor Belo were rushing back to Earth. However, when Sirius mobilized his troops, the interstellar line was attacked by the Kidds. Judging from the relationship between the Nelm and the Kidds, Roddy wouldn't believe it even if he said that the Kidds didn't attack to cooperate with the Nelm.

Currently, only Capulo had returned to Earth and had secretly arrived at the surface.

Today, in the name of President Morbit, a meeting was held in an underground federal base in District 14. The members of the meeting included nobles like Roddy, federal officials, members of the Gate of Freedom, and even the head of Light Concealment Society. However, the most important person was naturally Marshal Capulo. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss how to gather all the forces to counterattack the alien invaders in an all-round way.

This was a big rock hanging on Roddy's chest, and the other rock was his father Horn.

Since the fall of Babylon that night, Roddy hadn't heard from his father. However, even the Iron Prison explosion did not kill Horn. Roddy believed that his father was still alive, but he did not know why he did not come to meet him. This time, even Anna was completely unable to contact him. No one knew where Horn was now.

After leaving the town, the convoy traveled more than a hundred kilometers before changing from a secluded airport to a flying ship. Through the ship's porthole, Roddy looked down at the desolate and boundless ground retreating. Captain Black Hawk took a brain and placed it in front of Roddy. On the screen was the latest situation in the Federation.

"The situation isn't good." Roddy rubbed his eyebrows. According to the rolling information, the Federation's bases, barracks and factories on the surface were being bombed by the Nelm. Those aliens had accurately grasped the location of these strategic locations. Even though the federal government had issued an order to evacuate on the night of the invasion, more than 40% of the base's factories had been damaged, and the losses were so heavy that it was difficult to breathe.

Currently, of the 22 administrative districts on the surface, five had completely lost contact with each other, and seven were under attack. Among them, Freedom Gate had lost two areas of control, and Light Concealment Society's new base had also been raided by the Nelm people. This was probably the reason why these originally anti-federated organizations were willing to accept the invitation. After all, it was one thing for humans to close their doors and fight inwardly. Now that the foreign enemies had already slaughtered their nest and started fires everywhere, that was another matter.

The leaders of Light Concealment Society and Freedom Gate are not short-sighted to the point where they still want to drag the Union down under these circumstances.

Apart from the losses suffered by the Federation, the various clans also had different degrees of influence. However, their influence was much lighter than that of the Federation. This was all thanks to Alan's previous quarrel with the nobles, which forced the families including the three great families to transfer their supplies, factories, and talents in advance. Thus, at the moment of the invasion of Nelm, they suffered the least loss.

After Roddy had a video call with Third Bell on the airship, Captain Black Hawk reminded him that the airship was about to land. Roddy simply put away his brain and after a slight bump on the airship, they finally arrived at the purpose of their trip. Roddy walked down from the airship at the Federation's military base in Area 14. He could see that the secret port hidden in the mountains was already full of all kinds of airships.

A young lieutenant and captain Black Hawk confirmed Roddy's identity and registered before coming over to salute him and saying, "Mr. Roddy, the meeting is going to start in 30 minutes. Follow me, please."

Roddy nodded. He brought the captain and two other guards and followed the lieutenant deeper into the base.
