Edge of the Apocalypse

Chapter 1525: King's Tomb

Chapter 1525: King's Tomb

Garter Domain, Adahua Planet.

In the Light Courtyard of Victory Palace, Marrus sat on a chair with his eyebrows pinched between his brows. He hadn't closed his eyes for three days, and ever since Orfasis had secretly gone to Evernight, Adahua Planet's safety had almost fallen on the marquis's shoulders. This wasn't a simple task. Marrus checked the various defensive systems of the Academy of Light over and over again to make sure that they were functioning smoothly. At the same time, he had to keep an eye on the war in the Garter Domain, in case the flames of war spread to the head of the Adahua Planet people. Even though the marquis could still maintain his physical strength, he still couldn't stand such a high intensity of homework.

His assistant, Baron Woody, delivered a refreshing drink and said, "Your Excellency, go back and rest first."

Marrus took two sips of the drink and shook his head. "No, if I don't make any mistakes again, how am I supposed to face Great Emperor?"

"But you really can't cope with anything like this. Sir, let's keep an eye on this place first. It's not too late for you to rest and come back."

A burst of tiredness assaulted Marrus, who patted his head and sighed, "Alright, I'll go back and lie down for two hours. Call me if you need anything."

After Marrus left the command center, Woody patted the railings of the bridge and said to the people below, "Everyone, cheer up. We can't embarrass our lord. Stay on the lookout for me. We can't let the Barbarians have any opportunities to take advantage of us."

Everyone below agreed.

Woody was also busy browsing through all kinds of data. A moment later, he heard someone yell. Woody put down the data board and looked up. A statistician stood up and said, "Lord Woody, you might want to take a look at this."

"What's the matter?"

"I just found an abnormal set of spatial readings." The data clerk operated for a while and displayed the relevant information on the large screen. On the big screen, a band representing spatial readings is rising, like a growing wave: "In ten seconds, the readings will exceed the threshold. I estimate that it will be a spatial passage."

"Location?" Woody asked anxiously.

"It's not far from the outer space of our first planet. The exact coordinates are as follows."

Upon seeing the coordinates, Woody cursed, "Damn it, inform Marquis Marouf immediately. Also, inform the space fleet to prepare for battle."

Just as he finished speaking, the alarm sounded. The large screen immediately switched to Adahua Planet's outer space. A spatial passage opened in the shape of a door in space. A minaret suddenly appeared from the passage, followed by other buildings. Woody saw steeples, arches, balconies, and castles! Suddenly, a huge castle slid out of the spatial passageway. The scene continued to expand, forming an indescribable sense of oppression. Woody almost suffocated. That castle was the starship of Demon King Sbernak, and it was the seat of the Emperor of Demonic Shadow Empire. However, this castle-shaped starship shouldn't have appeared here, because Spenak invited Orfasis to Evernight Star, so why would it appear here?

Trap.

Woody could only think of this word.

Then the Demon King's Seat ship began to press towards Adahua Planet. This island-like ship continuously flew out of the bottom of the hull disguised as mountain stones, and began to engage Adahua Planet's space fleet that was placed near the satellite belt. The fleets on both sides shuttled back and forth, and every second, brilliant fireballs blossomed in space. The Demon King's Throne Ship continued to advance unhurriedly. A dark-colored shield completely enveloped the ship's hull, causing the artillery fire that landed on it to either be deflected away or absorbed by the shield. At this moment, a cannon slid out from the bottom of the ship. It was the main cannon of the ship. After three seconds of charging, a beam of light the size of an oil barrel shot out from the muzzle. As the ripples spread out, the beam pierced into a battleship in Adahua Planet like a pillar, piercing through the hull of the battleship. Then, the warship began to disintegrate and explode. A moment later, it had already turned into a ball of brilliant flames in the universe. The Demon King's Throne ship rushed straight into Adahua Planet's atmosphere. The shield wiped out a flame, like two spread wings.

When Marrus returned to the command center, the sirens continued to ring. The Marquis had the alarm turned off and asked Woody, "What's the situation now?"

Woody wiped his sweat and said, "The Demon King's ship suddenly appeared. Our space fleet tried to stop each other, but the first phase of the interception failed." Now that the Demon King's Throne has entered the atmosphere, based on its speed, we will be able to see it in Golden City in 15 seconds. Its target is very obvious. It's coming for Golden City. Right now, we have three other squadrons ready to fight in the air. But "

The Marquis knew what he wanted to say. If Sbernak had come personally, he wouldn't have seen enough of this. Marrus frowned as he arranged for his men to organize their defenses while thinking about the Demon King's motives. Evidently, Spenak had lured Orfasis's design to Evernight Star, so his goal was not the Golden Fire Seed, because the Golden Fire Seed had already been taken away by Great Emperor. Now that the ball of eternal golden flames in Victory Palace had long disappeared, Sbernak had still come, so it was obvious that he had not come for the golden flame seed. Spenak had other plans, but Marrus could not guess the Demon King's intentions. That range was too wide. Perhaps only Orfasis knew what he wanted, but it was a pity that Great Emperor was not here. Marrus couldn't even think of a way to expel Sbernak. After all, he was a supreme being.

At this moment, a golden screen of light rose up around Golden City. This barrier completely wrapped around the floating island, but before the Sovereign, it was just a trick that was better than nothing. Three squadrons had already gone to intercept the Demon King's Throne Ship. Ten seconds after the ship entered the atmosphere, the towering figure of the castle in the air and the shadows it landed on the city could already be vaguely seen from Golden City.

The warships continuously launched small fighter ships to fight. Soon, the war in the air began, and hundreds of fireballs began to bloom in midair amidst the rumbling of artillery fire. Martial law had already been imposed on Golden City. All non-combatants remained in the building, and Golden City's defensive system had also begun to operate. Moments later, the air turrets turned the floating island into an air fortress. But even so, it's hard to make people feel safe.

As the fireballs continued to appear in the air, the Demon King's Throne launched another batch of battleships. However, one of them quietly left the formation and slid in the opposite direction. After activating Stealth mode, the small flying ship completely disappeared from the battlefield. Right now, everyone in Golden City had attracted the attention of the Demon King's Throne Ship, and no one noticed the whereabouts of this small flying ship. The earth quickly retreated beneath the flying ship. The flying ship passed through cities and crossed the sea. Finally, on the other side of the sea, it began to descend. Forty-five minutes later, it landed in a jungle. This was a primeval forest. It was far away from Golden City. There was no smoke here. In terms of Adahua Planet's level of development, such primeval forests without any facilities are rare. The trees here were tall and large, and any tree required seven or eight grown men to embrace. The forest was filled with strange flowers and plants that could not be named, and there were even more rare animals shuttling through the forest. The flying ship stopped on a grass slope in the forest. Someone walked out from the deck of the flying ship. As soon as he came out, the light in the space dimmed down. It was as if wherever he went, the darkness would follow him like a shadow.

No one would have imagined that Sbernak would not let Golden City go, instead, he would come to this rarely inhabited primeval forest. The Demon King seemed to be very familiar with this forest. After simply identifying the location, he could just raise his foot. Wherever he passed, no matter how bright the sunlight was, it would turn dim and pale. It wasn't until Sbernak left that the light returned to its original state. The Demon King was walking on foot, but his speed was not slow. In the blink of an eye, they had already traveled a hundred kilometers, and the forest environment had gradually opened up. When Spenak stopped, he had already walked out of the primeval forest. In front of him was a prairie, which was flat, so the abrupt mountain at the end of the prairie was very abrupt. Especially since the shape of that mountain was a regular triangle. If it wasn't for the vegetation on the mountain, people would think that it was a pyramid.

Spenak headed for the triangular mountain.

The grassland quickly retreated under his feet. Behind him, a dark cloud quietly arrived. Dark clouds slowly swept through the forest, blocking out the sunlight and casting a huge shadow on the ground. This shadow followed Sbernak's footsteps like a subject until it reached the foot of the mountain. Spenak looked up and saw a temple at the foot of the mountain. Two red fireflies swam in the shadows. Just as he was about to walk, flames suddenly burst out from the braziers on the stone pillars on both sides of the temple. Following which, two groups of people walked out of the temple and lined up in front of the Demon King.

"This is the Royal Cemetery in Adahua Planet. No outsiders are welcome. Please return." An aged voice sounded from behind the crowd. The soldiers in line separated left and right, revealing an old man behind them. The old man was very old, covered in old age spots. His face was wrinkled like bark, his eyes half-narrowed, and he bent over with a hunchback as if he would die at any moment. However, the half-closed eyes occasionally emitted a streak of light. Obviously, the old man was not simple either.

"I want to get something inside," Spenak pointed at the temple.

"It's not possible." The old man said, "Besides the corpses of the previous emperors, there is nothing else inside."

Sbernak didn't say anything else and took the initiative.

The old man said sternly, "The Royal Cemetery is a sacred and dignified place. No matter who you are, our gravekeeper will not let you take a step into the mausoleum!"

All of a sudden, the aura of these people soared into the sky. Not a single one of them was weak. The warriors in front of the old man were all experts!
