Edge of the Apocalypse

Chapter 307: Adventurers

Chapter 307: Adventurers

"Caesar!"

A man pushed open the door and entered. His skin was dark and his face was painted with a white skeleton pattern, making him look very ferocious. His body was riddled with wounds, many of which seemed to have been scratched by wild beasts. However, the two most serious wounds seemed to have been scratched by sharp weapons. It was definitely a very sharp weapon. Although the wound had healed, one could see the grooves left behind by the disappearance of a portion of the skin and flesh.

The suture marks made the man look like he was crawling on two large centipedes. Every time he saw these two wounds, Caesar's heart would beat. He could not forget that night when the flames lit up, it was the man in front of him who had risked his life to receive two slashes for him. Otherwise, he wouldn't be here.

"Baku, my brother, you're back." Caesar opened his arms and greeted.

The two men clashed more appropriately than hugged. When they collided heavily, a smile appeared on the face of the man named Baku. Very quickly, the smile disappeared again. "I heard you brought back a few strangers. What happened?"

"Those are just travelers from afar."

"Is it really that simple? I think it was disguised by those cunning fellows from Sur City. Have you forgotten that they've been staring at the Ashes Mountain Range for the past two years?" Baku spat out two balls of hot air from his nostrils. "Let me kill them."

"Don't act recklessly. They are also magicians, and their strength is not low." Cried Caesar.

"Magicians are not good things!" Baku said gloomily, "I will cut off their heads and use them to pay tribute to the heroes of their ancestors."

"Enough, Baku." Caesar shook his head, "They are not from Sur City. If they were, they would have attacked the stronghold long ago. We have enough enemies, so don't provoke anyone else."

Baku frowned, "Brave Caesar, when did you become so timid?"

"Because I have to consider not only the treasures of my ancestors, but also the safety of my clansmen. Baku, don't make enemies at will."

Baku snorted, but did not object. He slammed the door and left. Caesar shook his head and bowed to a skeleton. "Ancestor, wake Baku up. He's been blinded by anger. If this goes on, he'll get lost sooner or later."

Caesar raised his head and looked at the void/eye socket on the dense white bone for a moment before he sighed and stood up.

In the evening, the door of the wooden house was suddenly knocked open. Baku rushed in, his dark face flushed red, and his entire body smelled of alcohol. Alan looked at him without moving. Wilick took a few steps in Allen's direction. If this man attacked, he could intercept him at any time. Belmond quietly circled behind him with his hands behind his back and a pitch-black short blade had slid down his sleeve.

In the blink of an eye, Baku had already been surrounded.

Fortunately, he didn't make any misunderstandings. He just glanced at Alan and the others with his eyes and said in a low voice, "Caesar trusts you, but I don't trust you at all. You'd better not do anything strange, or Baku will tear your heads off."

Then the wind knocked on the door and left.

Alan and the others looked at each other. Caesar walked in and apparently bumped into Baku. "Baku has disturbed you. He is a good soldier and a loyal man. Two years ago, when the people of Sur attacked us, Baku lost his wife and son that night, so he was filled with anger. Please don't blame him."

Alan nodded and said, "We can understand."

"Then the party is about to begin. Follow me, guests."

The party was held in the open space of the stronghold. The Baymonds used dead wood to make a fire and stacked stones in a circle to prevent the fire from spreading to other places. The young and handsome Baimon women danced around the campfire. Their dance was like a sacrificial ceremony, and their movements carried a sense of solemnity and solemnity. Drums made of animal hide and horns made of animal bones played a desolate tone filled with primitive flavor in the mouths of men.

The beast that had been hunted at noon had already been roasted. The natives used stone knives to cut off the meat and placed it in palm-sized leaves, bringing it to Allen and the others' stone tables. Caesar picked up a stone bowl filled with Bymonds' own wine and shouted, "Let's toast a bowl of wine to our guests from afar."

Allen and the others followed the customs of the countryside, drinking and eating meat in large mouthfuls, feeling quite happy.

In his conversation with Caesar, Alan figured out that the mountain range they had landed on was called Ash. Ash means wealth in the language of the locals, while the Baymonds moved to this mountain range a long time ago. They call themselves the people of the mountains, or mountain people for short.

Caesar was not the only branch of the Baymonds. They had many branches in the Ash Mountains, more than ten tribes, and a total of 17 heads. They had lived in the mountains for generations and had rarely stepped out of the Ash Mountains. The Baymonds were tough and valiant, and neither the harsh environment nor the dangerous beasts allowed them to be extinct. But now, it was clear that they had encountered some troubles.

Trouble comes from Sur City.

It was a city more than a hundred kilometers away from the Ash Mountain Range. For some reason, the people of that city had entered the Ash Mountain Range frequently since two years ago and had clashed with the Baymonds.

In the past two years, more blood had flowed out of Baimeng than in the middle of a century!

"But we won't back down. If those damn Sur City people dare to attack us, I will pierce their hearts." Caesar raised his crystal spear and shouted, "A Bymond warrior can shed every drop of blood in order to defend his homeland!"

The surrounding natives raised their spears and shouted loudly, echoing Caesar's words.

The atmosphere of the party was pushed to a climax, and Baku was the only one who drank silently throughout the whole process. As the party was drawing to a close, gunshots suddenly sounded from outside the stronghold. However, the gunshot was very monotonous and crude, completely different from the menacing rifles that Allen's soldiers had set up.

Edward quietly wrote "Fire/Spear" on the stone table with his fingers stained with wine. Alan suddenly realized that it sounded similar to the sound of a flintlock fire/Spear. However, that kind of firearm could already be classified as an antique on Earth.

Following which, the horse hisses and the roars of the native warriors rose and fell one after another.

A soldier ran to Caesar with a spear and half knelt down. "It's the adventurers of Sur City. They're attacking!"

Caesar answered. Baku had already thrown the bowl and pointed at Ellen and the others with a roar, "Look, Caesar, I told you they were in caesar's group. These people are enemies. Let me kill them!"

"It's useless to say more. Why don't you give us a chance to prove ourselves and let us repel the adventurers for you?" Allen said calmly.

He looked at Caesar.

Caesar nodded, "Follow me."

The four of them followed the tribal leader to the exit of the stronghold. Edward whispered to Allen, "Leave a living person alive. It's useful."

There was a wooden building at the entrance of the stronghold. Standing on it, one could see the scene in the distance. Alan and the others went upstairs and stood behind Caesar. Under the darkness of the night, the flames were boundless. The Baymond warriors were fighting against five or six strangers. Those should be the so-called adventurers. Their attire was clearly different from Allen's. These men wore long robes, riding boots, and gloves.

One of them wore a half-body armor and danced vigorously with a steel beheading axe in his hand. One of them resisted the attacks of four or five native warriors, showing that he was the leader of the adventurers. The other two, the long sword and the double saber, stood on both sides of the leader, forming a small battle formation.

There were also two people behind him, one of whom was holding a long-barreled fire/gun in his hand. He was filling the gun with bullets, and the other raised his hand. Light streaks of exposed skin flashed across the air, forming a pattern on the back of his hand.. With a wave of his hand, he threw a fireball at the native warriors to share the pressure on the three of them.

Alan whispered, "Engraving!"

Edward nodded and said, "Keep that guy who knows how to carve."

"He may be the strongest of these people."

"That's right, but he is also the oldest." Edward chuckled. "Older people are more afraid of death than younger people."

Alan understood and looked at Belmond. The latter retreated and disappeared into the shadows.

At this time, the native warriors could no longer resist the cooperation of the other adventurers, and they were retreating step by step. Caesar glanced at Ellen. Ellen smiled and said, "Will you come or shall I come?"

William jumped down from the tower and answered with action. Edward also said, "I'm going down to play."

"Are you going to put him to sleep again?" Alan asked.

The Malitans laughed, "This time, do something else."

Alan was just about to touch his foundation, so he naturally had no objection. On the other side, Wilick had already joined the battlefield. As soon as he joined, the adventurer's offensive was immediately suppressed. All the lines on the armor lit up, activating the sequence of the armor. William had a faint tendency to suppress the three of them. The adventurers were constantly pushed back by Wilick, and the two companions immediately changed their targets when they saw him.

The gunner aimed the muzzle at Wilick, who didn't mind the gentle breeze blowing by. However, his neck turned cold. He subconsciously touched it, only to find a boiling liquid in his hand. Blood, Fire/The gunman's neck had a small wound at some point, but blood kept pouring out. Seeing this, the sealer beside him was instantly dumbfounded. Hearing his companion's strange cries, he could only restrain his mind. The seal on the back of his hand lit up, and he was about to throw a fireball to support his companion.

A pitch-black short knife gently stuck out from behind him and rested on his neck. Belmond emerged from the shadows like a devil and whispered in the adventurer's ear, "If you don't want to die, disperse your Origin Energy."

Without the support of the gunner and engraver, the first three adventurers were quickly defeated. Wilick attacked ruthlessly. The heavy artillery fist and the fierce attack were used alternately. Under the storm-like fist momentum, the adventurers on the left and right sides collapsed first. The leader was able to withstand a few punches and was struck in the chest by Welik. His armor immediately deformed and the man spat out blood, causing Welik's fist strength to tremble to death.
