Chapter 649 - I Will Return This a Thousandfold! (1)
Tang Beixuan suddenly felt that the time had slowed down. His head was hardly hit against the glass window next to him while Tang Moyu and Tang Wanyu lost their consciousness after the barrelling truck hit the side of the car, pushing it several meters away from where it originally stopped.
"Moyu Jie…" He muttered before his consciousness drifted away from him. He could only hope that his sister's bodyguards would be able to help them as soon as they catch up with them. The airbag inflated once they were hit, but he wasn't sure if his sisters were inflicted with injuries.
The rain continued to fall hard. Once the car following them reached the scene, Tang Moyu's bodyguards immediately called for an ambulance and informed Feng Tianyi at once, given the severity of the situation they were in.
One of them took a peek inside the car and saw that the Tang siblings were unconscious. Tang Moyu's forehead was smeared with blood. They knew then that they couldn't waste any more time and had to bring the three to the nearest hospital.
Feng Tianyi was currently at home, making his own dinner for the first time since forever. It had been a long time since he was left on his own, doing everything by himself. Although they had several servants in the Feng mansion, he preferred making their own meals whenever he had time.
"Tianyi, are you sure you don't want me to help?" Auntie Lu appeared in the kitchen, holding a laundry basket in her arms, which contained Little Star's clean clothes. She placed it down and took a seat near the kitchen counter, accompanying him.
Feng Tianyi shook his head and smiled at the old woman. Auntie Lu was the person who raised his wife. He didn't think Tang Moyu would become the person she was today if this old woman hadn't been patient in keeping her ground while her parents left her on her own. Because of that, he had high respect for Auntie Lu, treating her with the respect a son-in-law should give his mother-in-law.
"No, Auntie Lu. It's okay. I can manage on my own." He politely declined Auntie Lu's help. Thinking about it, aside from Li Meili, Auntie Lu was the other person who had been staying by his wife's side throughout the years.
If he had someone like Auntie Lu by his side growing up, perhaps he wouldn't become the ruthless man he was years ago. Perhaps he would have become a decent man who deserved to become Moyu's business partner, instead of his little brother.
"Auntie Lu, how was Moyu's father's relationship with her mother?" He asked curiously, wanting to know the old woman's view on Tang Moyu's parents. There were many things they didn't know about Yan Qiuyu and Tang Lixue. If they want to get to the bottom of Yan Qiuyu's death, they need to know the kind of person she was and the circ.u.mstances she and people around her were in.
The smile on Auntie Lu's face slightly faltered after hearing his question. She pondered for a moment before answering him.
"To be honest, it's obvious that they didn't like each other." She started. "When the Tang family took me in as Moyu's nanny, Tang Lixue was almost never around. It was very rare for us to see him home and when he was, he was always in a heated argument with his wife."
Auntie Lu could only take Moyu away, hoping that she wouldn't get pulled into their fight. There were rumors that Little Moyu wasn't Zhang Wuying's real daughter. She didn't know whether it was true or not, but she neither dared to cross the line nor ask anyone in the Tang family.
Feng Tianyi hummed and looked at the dish he was cooking over the stove. So Auntie Lu wasn't even aware that the girl she raised like her own child had a younger twin brother somewhere. She probably didn't have any idea who Yan Quiyu was.
He needed to know more about Yan Qiuyu and how she got involved with the Tang and the Zhang family at the same time. Why did Zhang Xianzhe save Tang Lingjun's life when his crazy sister wanted him dead?
Something about the information Zhang Jiren gave him made him confused. It seemed that Zhang Xianzhe and Yan Qiuyu had known each other on a personal level. The way Zhang Xianzhe spoke in his drunken state was like Moyu's mother owed him something.
"I could never understand why Madam treated Moyu that way, but even if the rumors about her were true, Moyu was nothing but an innocent child. What did she know about her parents' disagreements? Even though it was obvious that Master Tang cared about Moyu, it was also obvious that something was stopping him from reaching out to her, only content in looking at Moyu while she was sleeping when he thought no one was looking."
There were things inside the Tang Estate that even she couldn't understand. As a long-time servant of the Tang family, she didn't have any right to question her master's decisions and choices. She could only look after the young empress Tang Lixue had left for her to look after.
"Anyway, at least she has two adoptive siblings who truly cared about her." Auntie Lu sighed. "To be honest, I'm really glad that they got along well despite the kind of upbringing they had in the past. The three of them managed to see past the hardship of their lives and were able to change it for the better."
"Auntie Lu, aren't you planning to retire? I know Moyu said that you don't have a family of your own but you still have relatives, right?" Feng Tianyi asked.
Auntie Lu let out a laugh, her eyes turning into inverted crescents, making the wrinkles around her eyes more prominent.
"Moyu is my only family now. I promised her that I would always be by her side whatever happens. You cannot imagine how worried I was when she left the country with Li Meili. I want to follow them, but my health wouldn't allow me to take the long travels overseas." She said.
Feng Tianyi only smiled before lowering the heat of the stove, waiting for his steak to reach his preferred doneness. It was one of the things he envied about Tang Moyu. She was able to get along with her siblings while he and Feng Tianhua had always been at each other's throats.
"Ah, if only me and my half brother could go along well too…"
"But I think your bond with He Lianchen and Mister Song is also commendable too." Auntie Lu corrected him. "They are more like your brothers than Feng Tianhua ever was."
The devil laughed at that. Perhaps she was right. He and those two had known each other for a very long time and even when he fell down from his high horse, He Lianchen and Song Fengyan were part of the very few people who stayed with him.
"I guess you are right, Auntie Lu. I guess I'm stuck with those two forever."
Not that he minded at all. Despite those two being outrageous and ridiculous at times, He Lianchen and Song Fengyan were very trustworthy. He didn't think he could ask for better friends than those two.
Just as he thought that his night would continue to be peaceful, his phone rang loudly, taking his attention away. Feng Tianyi immediately answered it and the news that he received stunned him in place.
