FALLING IN LOVE WITH HIM - HER FIRST LOVE

Chapter 212 - He Always Knows

With her eyes still closed, Hera groaned while her hand blindly searched for her cell phone under the pillow. It kept ringing and forced her to open her eyes. "What in the hell happened? Who died so early in the morning?" she muttered while her eyelids opened slightly in a tiny crack. Hera found her phone on the nightstand.

Her lips twitched in a subconscious smile as she saw the name on the phone's screen. Her devil was calling, and Hera turned to her side and noticed that she was all alone in the bed. It was not even six in the morning, and Hera wanted to strangle her boyfriend for ruining her peaceful sleep.

"I hate you," she snapped into the phone as her greeting and heard an amused chuckle in reply.. "Why are you not in bed?" she queried, eyes roaming around the large room, searching for the culprit. "I'm in the gym," Hunter answered. "Get out of bed and get ready or you'll be late for school," he reminded her, much to her displeasure.

Hunter heard the shuffling and waited until Hera shoved the blanket away and set her feet on the floor. "I hate school," Hera whined into the phone. Her boyfriend slash her husband laughed again. "You hate everything in the morning," he stated in an unimpressed tone. Hera could imagine his face while he rolled his eyes.

'Why is he mean to me so early in the morning?'

Hera pouted and exhaled through her nose. "Fuck you, Lucifer," she snapped at him, and again he laughed at her adding more to her already annoyed mood. "That will consume much of our time, and you'll have to serve detention for being late to school. So I suggest you rethink about your wish," Hunter said, sounding too delighted.

Hera pulled the phone away from her ear to glare at the screen. "Then go fuck yourself, asshole," she screamed into the speaker and disconnected the call before he could retaliate with a nasty comeback. She inclined her head with a satisfied smile, proud of herself for being so quick.

Stretching her arms above her head, she looked at the double photo frame on the nightstand and the special birthday gift made her giggle for no reason at all. "Good morning, dear life. I wish it to be a good day," she mumbled to herself and sent a little prayer to God, thanking him for letting her survive another day.

Her feet dragged her legs, padding towards the bathroom.

An hour later, she walked out of the bathroom wrapped in a tiny towel, all cleaned and dripping wet. Standing in front of the dresser, she was towel-drying her hair while humming a random tune mindlessly. The door opened without so much of a knocking to alert the person inside before disrupting their privacy.

Rolling her eyes, Hera sighed in annoyance. She knew who could be so mannerless to barge in without knocking. She secured the towel around her body and held the one she used for drying her hair against her chest defensively, fingers gripping the soft cloth in tight fists. It wasn't that she didn't trust her boyfriend, nor was she shy.

Ever since she dreamt that nightmare where he had ripped the towel off her body, it stayed stored in her memory and kept playing in her mind whenever she stood in front of the mirror wearing nothing but a towel. So, her defensive stance was more of an impulsive act.

She had given it thought several times whether she should talk to him about it or not. She was afraid he would feel offended if she revealed it to him. Hera knew it wasn't fair on him if she kept walking on eggshells around him. It wasn't like he would do anything against her will, right? However, the scary sequence, the experience she went through, never stopped lurking here and there in her thoughts.

Pushing aside the uncertainty and self-consciousness, Hera forced her mind to move past the awkward hesitation. She focused her eyes on his gorgeous personality as Hunter walked in. Dressed only in indigo blue, mid-thigh shorts, his torso was naked, glistening with sweat while a white towel hung around his neck.

Hera tried to greet him with a smile, but it quickly faded as her eyes observed how his long legs ate up the distance between them, and before she knew it, he stood invading her personal space in the next second. Instinctively, her body pushed itself backwards, leaning more into the dresser in an attempt to put a respectable distance between their bodies.

She subconsciously dragged her feet back and lowered her gaze, watching his bare feet resting a mere inches away from hers. Taking a deep breath, she pulled her bottom lip between her teeth, assaulting it with a harsh bite.

Hunter cleared his throat, demanding her attention. Hera dared to lift her lashes and let her vision measure the length of his toned legs and firm, muscular thighs. Her forest green eyes brushed past the hard lines of his washboard abs and his defined hard chest. Hera finally peeped into his purple orbs, only to avert her eyes quickly.

The intensity with which his eyes stared into her soul made an involuntary shudder run through her system. Hunter leaned in, resting one of his hands on the mirror behind her, and Hera felt trapped. With his other hand, he cupped her cheek, thumb caressing the smooth skin. He pulled her chin down to free her lip trapped between her teeth and searched her eyes.

A single drop of water fell from her wet hair and slid down her cheek, making its way to her neck before disappearing into the towel covering the upper swell of her breasts. Hunter's eyes watched it with so much fascination it made Hera's cheeks burn, turning crimson red as she blushed. Hot breath brushed against her mouth through Hunter's parted lips.

"Since you sounded so disappointed over the phone because of my rejection, I've changed my mind, and I'm here to fulfil your wish, Goddess," Hunter said, voice no more than a husky whisper. His index finger followed the trace of the line the water droplet left behind. The second he touched the edge of the towel, Hera's eyes grew wide, and her breath caught in her throat.

She stiffened and squeezed her eyelids shut. Hunter's lips brushed against the pulsing point near the hollow of her neck in a wet kiss. A traitorous tear escaped her eyes, and she sucked in a sharp breath which caught Hunter's immediate attention. It was too late to wipe the tear because Hunter had already seen it. Their eyes met for a brief second, and Hera noticed the sudden change in his gaze.

He might have seen something in her eyes that compelled him to step back, and she released the breath she had been holding. Relief flooded through her mind and body.

'He knows. He always knows.'

With guilty eyes, Hera searched for any signs of anger or disappointment in his expression. The intensity his eyes held was gone, but he didn't seem upset. Instead, his gaze softened, and he dropped a soft peck on her forehead before pulling away.
