After disconnecting the call, Fu Yan placed the phone on the table before looking towards his ceiling.
"Am I being too strict with her? She has been working with no break for quite a while." he thought as he recalled the tiredness he noticed in Fei Hong's voice.
"All right, let's give her a vacation after this matter is handled." Fu Yan decided while standing up from the chair.
He decided to take a shower to freshen up a little when Qing suddenly sounded an alarm. The computer screen turned red and Qing's voice sounded in the room.
"Big Brother! We are under attack. Someone is trying to hack into our company server and when I stopped them, they turned to a distributed denial of service attack. The servers are being overloaded due to the number of requests. "
Fu Yan rubbed his finger on his forehead and then proceeded to type on the keyboard.
"Qing, follow my lead. Since this is the first time you are dealing with this kind of attack, I will teach you. Store everything in your database. Also, after this is done, start searching all kinds of hacking forums and gather data from there. Make a whole new database and whenever there is an attack on the servers, or someone tries to hack, give priority to this database. Reduce the restrictions to level 2. You have my permission." Fu Yan gave orders to Qing while typing on the keyboard and trying to divert the incoming traffic.
"Okay, Big Brother. Reducing the restriction to level 2. Please Authorize!" Qing's monotonous voice came amidst the typing noise.
"Okay, you have permission. Reduce the restrictions to level 2." Fu Yan confirmed without diverting his eyes from the screen.
Qing did not reply for a while after she got the confirmation. Fu Yan was not worried about her not responding, because he knew that she was adjusting her database and trying to adjust all systems to match the new restrictions.
After waiting for 4 minutes, Qing's voice sounded in the room:
"System adjusted to new settings, Big Brother! Should I start gathering the data now?"
Fu Yan nodded his head when he heard Qing's question and replied with a hurried tone.
"Yes, start gathering data from different forums now. Give priority to DDoS technology for now, and remember to compare all sorts of data before optimizing it and storing it on the server. Also, start working with me now and practice on these attackers."
When Fu Yan said this, server fans in the adjacent room started to spin wildly and the server load increased to 90%.
At first Fu Yan was furiously typing on the keyboard, and he alone was handling the whole situation and, while being attacked, he wrote a simple firewall that was able to filter the most malicious requests and accepts connections from known or verified users but after a while, the opponent was able to crack this and new traffic started to flood the company servers again. Due to the excessive amount of data coming into the servers, they were under maximum load and, if he did not shut them down, he might lose most of his servers due to their chips burning up.
Sweat started to appear on his forehead and his mind was performing calculations faster than the computer. He was writing new code, but the opponent was not ready to give him time to relax. They had suddenly doubled their attack power, and Fu Yan could only hold for another two to three minutes at this rate.
Just when he was thinking he was about to lose, Qing's voice sounded in the room.
"Big Brother! My database on DDoS is 60% complete and I have mastered most of the defense methods. The remaining 40% is about using DDoS attacks."
Fu Yan gave a smile full of relief and replied while looking at the screen:
"All right, you take over defense, but integrate the code that I wrote. This will help you while dealing with them."
Qing did not give a reply and took over the control. The moment she took the wheel, the situation started to stabilize. The way she filtered the incoming requests was much more advanced and only an AI of her caliber could do the same.
Fu Yan saw all this with a smile and nodded while looking at the screen.
"Qing is getting better and better with her hacking capabilities, but what she lacks the most is knowledge. She needs to improve her database because when it comes to attacking methods she has never seen before, she can't do anything." Fu Yan thought while looking at the screen where numerous lines of data were appearing and disappearing in seconds. After thinking for a while, Fu Yan thought of a feasible plan and decided to implement it after he finished dealing with the current situation.
After thinking, he shifted his attention towards the computer screen and then sat down on the chair. He tried to focus on what was being displayed but after wasting more than a minute and getting no results, he gave up.
"Qing! Don't just defend, locate the person behind all this too. Give me all the details you can get." He said while leaning back on the chair. He was not worried that they would be able to bypass Qing's defensive wall.
"Okay, Big Brother. Qing will do so." Qing gave a short reply before getting back to work.
After another hour passed, Qing controlled the whole situation and filtered almost all fake requests coming to the servers.
"Big Brother! I have gathered all the data on the attacker and stored it in my database," Qing's voice sounded in the room, disrupting Fu Yan's nap.
Fu Yan opened his drowsy eyes and then asked while placing a hand on his mouth to stop the yawn.
"What did you say? Repeat it please?"
"Big Brother! I have gathered all the data on the attacker and stored it in my database," Qing repeated the exact same words that she said before.
Fu Yan gave a nod and then ordered her to show the data. Qing followed and datasheets started to appear on the screen.
Fu Yan glanced at them and then, after a while sighed while mumbling:
"My guess was correct. Google. They should have waited for a while before doing this. If they do this now, even an ignorant person would be able to guess who attacked us tonight. Are they blinded by hatred? Anyway, I have a piece of evidence against them and will use it when the time comes." Fu thought and then ordered Qing to store all this data in a new category named "Google Evidence".
Back in Google's local headquarters, Chen Fan had a grim look on his face while he looked at the screen in front of him.
"Is this what you call a result? When I gave you this task, you were so confident; what happened to that confidence now? Did all of it just vanish into thin air?" Chen Fan roared while looking at the person in front of him, who was just standing there while lowering his head.
After a while, when his anger lessened and Chen Fan calmed down, he sighed and asked in a calm tone:
"So, what happened? You said before that it was a piece of cake, and now you are telling me that you failed? And it would be very hard to do this again in future? Explain this, and make sure to not leave anything out."
The man in front of him gave a sigh of relief and then opened his mouth.
"Sir, when we started, we had an obvious advantage, and they were barely able to stop us. My whole team is professional,we didn't even have to attack with our full might. We attacked with 6Tb/s of power, and they were only able to block 30% of our attacks. But then, after 14 minutes when we thought we had won, things changed. They started to defend like crazy and, no matter what packets we sent, all were rejected or blocked. At first, we thought they were blocking everything but, when a colleague sent a command through their game, it went through. So that means they were able to come up with a way to stop our attack within 15 minutes, and after that, no matter what method we used, we were still blocked." He paused here a little and then continued:
"It's as if they were learning at first and when they understood our methods, they stopped playing around."
Chen Fan sighed when he heard this and gestured to the man that he could go. After that, he stood up and started to pace around in the office. He was clear about the strength of this team and knew that even many tech giants with a huge amount of resources would find it hard to block their attack, but this new-born company was able to do just that.
"Just who are they?"
The man in question was preparing for his next journey, not even thinking about what happened a while ago. To him it was nothing but a child's play.

Anyhow, for those unfamiliar with a "packet," it is a standard size of about 1,500 bytes, and is what computers use to communicate over the internet. You can use a packet to send a payload (a virus, random data, etc.), internet protocols, and what not. For this purpose, it is being used to send data meant to overload the computers.[li data-annotation-id="ded496c4-9f89-193c-96b6-f91206f46bc8"]Editors Note -- (Alterious) For those not familiar with a Distributed Denial of Service attack (DDOS), essentially many many computers, ping a single network, game, service, or website, and stop their connection from the internet. Imagine... Walking through a door, thats your internet, and then a crowd all tries to get in, blocking you, the internet, from getting through the door, boom, a DDOS attack.
