Chapter 124: Raze's Exploration
A crowd had gathered around a new figure in the bazaar—a peddler who had unfurled his wares upon a worn mat; each scroll seemed to glow as if to attract each passer-by along the road.
The peddler's voice cut through the din…
"Step right up, brave Survivors! Behold the scrolls that can turn the tide of your fate!"
His hands danced over the scrolls laid out before him, each one inscribed with runes that pulsed with potential.
Raze edged closer, her curiosity piqued by the assortment of skills on display. MVLeMpYr-reader
The peddler only placed the name of the Survivor Skill, and there were no explanations whatsoever. However, it wasn't that important.
After all, just by learning the name of the skill, they could already tell what kind of ability they'd get once they used the scroll.
Anyway, the peddler continued to explain that the scrolls tied with green ribbons were Basic Survivor Skill Scrolls. The ones with blue ribbons were Intermediate Survivor Scrolls, and finally, the red ones were Advanced Survivor Skills.
This division of skills caught most of the Survivor's attention as they didn't know that there was a clear separation of skills. Well, they weren't too focused on such skills since many of them thought that the Survivor Skills were simply abilities that could be easily obtained or learned through survival.
They believed that they were all simple skills that Survival Experts could learn through practice.
However, after seeing the intermediate skills, they knew that they were completely wrong. Some of the skills here were something they would never had the ability to learn unless they had the scrolls that the man was selling!
"This is it! The scrolls are mine!"
"Awesome! This is what we need!"
"I think that the Grand Auction Hall has better Skill Scroll for sale, but this ain't bad."
"Right! These Skill Scrolls looked really good."
The crowd expressed their opinion as they saw the Survivor Skills being sold.
The basic skills were quite familiar to them, and some of them even have one or two ofthese skills already.
The only problem was the fact their skill levels were only at level 3 or 4 so the effects weren't too obvious in most cases.
Some of the Basic Survivor Skills were First Aid Skill to mend wounds, Lockpicking Skill to access forbidden places, Trap Disarming Skill to evade deadly surprises, and Elementary Crafting Skill to create tools and weapons from the ruins they've scavenged.
The intermediate skills, on the other hand, were more specialized. They were Survivors' abilities that could surely increase the level of survival against the zombies.
Some of them were Eagle's Eye Skill that enhanced perception, allowing one to spot threats and resources from afar. Urban Forager Skill was also boon in the concrete wilderness, revealing hidden caches of food and supplies. Marksmanship Skill could also turn a Survivor into a deadly sniper, while Swordsmanship Skill promised mastery over the blade.
Of course, there are also other specialized weapon mastery skills like Cane Mastery, Axe Mastery, Dagger Mastery, Spear Mastery Skills, and others that are being sold…
Anyway, Raze noticed that these intermediate skills also contained plenty of fighting skills, like Boxing, Taekwondo, Kickboxing, Muay Thai, and even Wu Shu. They were all quite interesting since many of them doesn't know such abilities and only survived till now thanks to the unique talent they received from the system and the fortunate areas where they started.
Nonetheless, despite the incredible set of intermediate Survivor Skills being sold, it was the two Advanced Level Survivor Skills that drew gasps from the crowd.
Furthermore, they were the only scrolls with a little description on them.
The first was a scroll marked with a flame encircled by a shield—Inferno Aegis.
[ Inferno Aegis Skill Scroll: A skill obtained from a rare Lava Zombie. It grants the Survivor the ability to summon a barrier of fire, incinerating weaker undead that dares to breach its perimeter. It also had unknown effects once the skill was learned. ]
[ The starting bid for this item must be 200 Points. ]
None of them complained about the steep price of the item. After all, the skill was already something that they could call a magical ability. Summoning a fire with your own hands was definitely a man's dream!
It was only worth 200 Zombie Cores! That was definitely not enough, considering the power that it could give them!
It must be at least 2,000 Points!
The second scroll bore the image of a storm cloud pierced by an arrow—Tempest's Precision.
[ Tempest's Precision Skill Scroll: A skill obtained from Electrocuted Zombie. It bestows upon the Survivor the power to harness electricity, granting unerring accuracy and speed. It also had unknown effects once the skill was learned. ]
[ The starting bid for this item must be 200 Points. ]
Raze's eyes lingered on the scrolls. The power they offered was undeniable, but so was the cost. Just seeing the crowd's reaction, she knew that these scrolls would be sold for more than 2 or even 3 thousand points.
As expected, as soon as the peddler allowed the others to bid, the war started.
Advanced skills were rare, and the bidding would certainly be fierce…
Anyway, she weighed her options, her Points, and the competition.
She decided not to bid on the two Advanced Skills…
Instead, she started bidding on Intermediate Skills, placing 200 Points on the Axe Mastery scroll. It was a bold move, but the skill aligned with her new weapon, the Master-Grade Ranger's Survival Axe!
For the other Survivor Skills that she might need in the future, Raze hesitated. Skills like Markmanship, Swordsmanship, and others seemed to be very useful but she had to save her points since she still had to check the Wooden Ring and Wooden Necklace… She had to have enough points to fight for them.
Of course, the peddler didn't stop speaking as he continued to invite everyone to start their bid.
'I can't stay here… I'll be back to you after an hour.' Raze thought.
As the peddler extolled the virtues of each scroll, Raze continued her exploration.
