Chapter 429 Discovery
'The gap was too high…' Shane mused to himself after realizing that some shelters only faced four or five High-Tier Zombies at their final horde. On the other hand, he had already faced a few of these High-Tier Zombies in the first horde!
He couldn't help but be surprised about this. Anyway, the system had probably identified their combat strength to be that low, so the Zombie Wave they had faced was also that easy. This may seem good since they could survive the Zombie Wave. However, the rewards and the amount of experience points they'd get were also relative to the difficulty they faced…
This means that the rewards they received were definitely not as enticing as the ones his clan received.
Anyway, after scrolling through the messages, Shane decided to reach out to Raze, the current leader at his main shelter, Springriver Manor.
Although he knew that the shelter was in good hands, he wanted to know if there were some unexpected results.
[ Shane: How's the situation there? ]
[ Raze: No casualties. The last Wave was four Armored Juggernaut Zombies. That was tough. Thankfully, we had Sir Shinja and Sir Chaloem. Everyone was too exhausted and depleted of Spirit Points at that time. They clutched it. ]
As Shane read the reply, he started imagining how the shelter blocked those four Armored Juggernauts. It was definitely not an easy feat. Raze didn't mention everything that had happened, but that was definitely an intense confrontation… Nonetheless, he was really thankful for those two recruits. If not for them, they would be in huge trouble.
[ Shane: That sounds dangerous. I'll send more Spirit Stones in the Clan Trade soon. You also try to get and stock many of them. With everyone getting more Survivor Skills, it will be a battle of Spirit Points reserves. ]
[ Raze: Spirit Stones? That's good to hear. Alright, Shane… We'll start repairing the walls now… If you have spare Power Cores, give it to us so our Barrier Generators can start working again. ]
[ Shane: Alright, let me send you some. ]
With that said, Shane opened the Clan Trade and provided the Power Cores they needed to at least activate their Barrier Generators so they could sleep peacefully even without the wall protecting their shelter.

A couple of days after the event, Ibrahim woke just before dawn, his stiff joints reminding him of the intense battles they'd faced during the recent Zombie Wave.
Although he was already fully recovered, it seemed as if his body still recalls the horrors of that day.
Anyway, despite the soreness and the memories of near brushes with death, he felt a deep sense of pride—a rare feeling in times like these.
Experience tales at empire
Rolling out of bed, he stretched, pulled on his boots, and made his way outside to join the early risers for breakfast.
The smell of hot, simple meat soup together with the faint scent of freshly baked bread, made his stomach grumble as he entered the makeshift mess hall.
Taking a seat among his fellow survivors, he dipped his bread into the soup and ate in silence, absorbing the calm of the morning. Since he was quite new, he was still not in a certain group of friends.
Anyway, the kitchen team worked with whatever ingredients they could scrounge up, but Ibrahim found himself grateful for any warm meal these days.
As he finished breakfast, Ibrahim noticed the camp buzzing with activity.
The repairs weren't just repairs anymore—they were reshaping the entire Silver Mine Camp. A new sturdy wall was under construction around the outer perimeter. Just by looking at it, he could tell that it was far larger than the previous one. The bottom half was built from solid concrete, forming a formidable base that would hold against the worst of the undead. The upper half, on the other hand, was a thick barrier of lumber with diagonal support that added a decently high stability to the wall and created layered defense that could hold firm under heavy attacks.
Aside from that, Ibrahim also noticed three additional Automated Turrets positioned along the perimeter. It means that there were now five Automated Turrets protecting this shelter!
Furthermore, he also saw six watchtowers rise above the walls. There were guards on duty already stationed in each one, making this place look really safe. The guards were mostly elves and they were scanning the distance for any signs of trouble.
Ibrahim admired the setup; it felt like Shane had considered this arrangement with the previous Zombie Wave they faced.
Shane had certainly combined their limited resources with strategic know-how. He could tell they weren't taking any chances after the third Zombie Wave.
'I hope my relatives and even my friends would get lucky enough to be recruited in this place.' Ibrahim thought to himself. Although this place was relatively new, it was already in a level that could ignore high-tier Zombies as long as they weren't a horde of them.
This place was definitely a fortress itself.
Anyway, Ibrahim also saw the hustle of carpenters and builders erecting structures that would soon become the new heart of their camp. There was a stable for their mounts, now containing a few hardy horses capable of outrunning most zombies.
'Wait… Where did these horses come from?' Ibrahim was surprised. Anyway, he would later realize that it had come from the Long Lodge's Shelter.
Aside from this, he also noticed that the barracks were being upgraded, ready to house their growing numbers and give soldiers a place to rest between patrols. The newly built training ground was already bustling, with recruits practicing under the guidance of a couple of Elves.
Aside from that, he also saw the trap-making workshop, filled with materials for crafting all manner of explosive, spiked, and snare traps.
There was also a covered water well that offered a secure and reliable water source, and several sturdy residences could finally be seen beside the rows of trailer trucks, which many had been using as makeshift homes.
The cramp trailer trucks would finally become more spacious.
'This shelter is getting really fixed fast.' Ibrahim muttered to himself as he recalled the situation of the shelter when he first arrived.n/ô/vel/b//in dot c//om
There were surely a lot of changes, and these changes were for the best!
Anyway, after walking around, he confirmed that the main building had also been reinforced and expanded to act as the command center.
Though the Zombie Wave had ended, the threat hadn't.
Because of this, Ibrahim was tasked to do a patrol, and of course, he had partner on this…
Soon, he caught sight of Tieria, his patrol partner for the day, standing by the gates.
He was deep in conversation with one of the watchtower guards. Ibrahim easily noticed his prosthetic right eye that gleamed from the sunlight. He actually thought that it looked ugly at first.
After all, he had seen decent prosthetics that looked like a real eye before.
However, after learning what it could do, he even had a thought of replacing his perfectly working eye to obtain such new abilities.
Now that he was looking at it once again, he felt that it had an otherworldly beauty to it…
Well, it had a specialized lens that could zoom in on distant objects and calculate distance and trajectory with incredible precision. Ibrahim heard that it also had something light, Night Vision and Zombie Detector Mode.
It was amazing…. Furthermore, it could also help with his aim. It could assist him in obtaining pinpoint accuracy, making her one of the deadliest shooters in the camp.
'What a cheat-like ability…' Ibrahim thought to himself.
"Morning, Ibrahim," Tieria greeted him as he waved at the watchtower guard who was now leaving… "Ready to clear the area?" Tieria asked as he turned to him.
Ibrahim gave him a nod. "Yes… Let's get rid of any stray zombies before they get too close. Shane mentioned that we should head in that rocky area…"
"That's right…"
The two then grabbed their gear—rifles, knives, and a few emergency flash grenades—and set off through the gate.
At first, their patrol route took them along the edge of the new wall, where they could appreciate its sturdiness up close.
Then, they started to get farther as they had to ensure that they eliminated Zombies even before getting their shelter sighted.
As they moved through the nearby forested area, they soon heard the presence of something in the surroundings.
They both looked at each other before nodding.
They then moved in silence, scanning for any signs of Zombies lurking nearby.
Tieria's prosthetic eye was soon triggered as it zoomed in on a shuffling figure about 50 meters away. "Crawler Zombie at ten o'clock," He whispered, raising her rifle.
"Let's take it quietly," Ibrahim replied, gripping his knife. He crept forward, staying low and using the trees for cover.
For some odd reason, the Crawler was too focused on the ground to notice him until he was right behind it.
With a swift move, Ibrahim plunged his knife into the base of its skull, dispatching it quickly.
Thud…
Ibrahim wasn't too excited about killing such a weak zombie, but he immediately felt excited when he discovered something on the ground.
What do you think?
