Chapter 434 Fusion of Spells
Shane read through the list as a sense of amazement settled over him…
'I already have too many skills on me… I really have to start fusing them.' Shane muttered to himself as he also had more skills from the loots he had on the Survivor Corpses and from the Skill Scrolls from the rewards he obtained after the Boss Raid Event.
He couldn't help but imagine what kind of spells he'd get from that.
Of course, before thinking of fusing them, it would be a pity if he didn't see how they worked…
He couldn't wait to try them out, especially now that the shelter had already somewhat stabilized, giving him the perfect opportunity to explore his new capabilities without the immediate threat of large-scale danger.
Furthermore, he planned on exploring that mysterious place that Tieria and Ibrahim found, so he might need these new skills.
Stepping out of his quarters and into the morning light, Shane walked through the camp, while thinking about the skills that required no immediate target.
'Let's try this first… It doesn't cost too much Spirit Points…' Shane muttered.
Then, he initiated Adrenal Burst as he felt a rush of energy and his muscles tensed followed by his reflexes instantly sharpening.
'It's quite similar to Adrenaline Surge, but this one costs a lot less and shorter…' Shane thought.
Then, he sprinted forward, covering about 50 meters in 2 seconds or so, leaving a gust behind him.
Considering his Agility, this was actually quite slow… However, if he went faster than that while the Adrenal Surge was active, it would injure his body instead, making it less desirable to be used.
Furthermore, the problem with this surge was the huge decrease in stamina. Thankfully, Shane had a lot of it, so it wouldn't affect him.
Even after the Skill disappeared, his breathing was steady… However, that would surely not be the same for the others.
After that, Shane activated Silent Strike and stalked around a group of workers repairing a Watchtower.
They seemed to be adding more support to it.
His steps had barely made a sound as he circled them unnoticed, confirming his silent approach.
'It works… probably because of their low Perception Stat. Mhmm… I should try it on someone with more than 50 Perception Points later.' He thought to himself.
Anyway, Shane decided to just go out of the camp since he would be able to really use them in combat.
Moving further out, he spotted a lone Walker Zombie wandering at the camp's edge. Deciding to test Vital Sense, he focused on the creature, and almost instantly, a faint outline appeared around key points in its skeletal frame and skull.
Just like what the description said, he could indeed see the weakness of his target. Furthermore, while the Skill was active, it granted him a guaranteed 50% Critical Damage… It was definitely a great ability with that inclusion. After all, even without this Skill, he already knew the weakness of the Zombies… What really mattered in this Skill was the guaranteed Critical Damage.
Guided by his enhanced perception, he silently approached and struck a clean blow to its temple with a branch he grabbed nearby, killing it off immediately.
Boom!
Its head just exploded from the strike, and the branch was also destroyed.
[ You have eliminated a Walker Zombie. ]
Shane looted it and got another of the usual items.
Shane then switched to try the Energy Wave… This time, he decided to take out one of his silver swords.
He gripped this sword tightly as he recalled the effects of the Skill.
[ Effect: Unleashes a sweeping energy-infused attack dealing 150% weapon damage to enemies in a 5-meter arc. Cooldown of 20 seconds. ]
This was a skill he learned in the Fairy Realm's Invasion, which was taught to him by the Ogres. It was a strange feeling using it right now…
Anyway, after channeling energy through the weapon, he swung his sword…
This motion unleashed a wind-like force… It was a slicing arc discharged outward, cleaving the nearby tree and leaving an indented mark on a nearby boulder.
'That was strong…' Shane muttered to himself. It felt that fighting against Zombies or even Vampires had become a lot easier. Furthermore, the Skill only used up 20 Spirit Points! He could do this thing for a long time before being exhausted!
'Well, that's the benefit of clearing two other Apocalypses.' Shane smirked at the thought.
The force of it had really left him impressed. He felt a surge of confidence about what he could achieve in the battles ahead.
Satisfied, Shane moved to the training ground, intending to try Machine Tamer and Pulse Hacking on nearby defense turrets or maybe the drones he recently obtained in the Reputation Stores.
Apparently, they now have 12 Automated Drones that could help them in their defense.
With Machine Tamer activated, he concentrated, and soon, even without Cloud's help, the drone was activated, aligning itself to follow his lead. Then, a slight pulse from Pulse Hacking disrupted its sensors temporarily, turning them off.
After running through the remaining skills, Shane finally released a breath.
He was surely excited learning about all of these skills…n/o/vel/b//in dot c//om
This time, Shane decided to finally start Fusing his Skills once again.
Shane then opened his Full Skill Tab… After all, there were too many of them already, and the system hid the others so it wouldn't be too difficult to see all the other details of his status panel.
Survivor Skills: Lockpicking, Hacker, Fast Swimmer, Mining, Alchemy, Aura of Protection, Horseback Riding, Lesser Beast Taming, Horizontal Slash, Enhanced Sense, Fast Regeneration, Five-Meter Jump, Titan's Roar, Underground Burrow, Armored Dash, Momentum Shift, Poison Resistance, Triple-Enhanced Vision, Adrenaline Surge, Vertical Slash, Double Thrust, Meditation, Mental Clarity, Language Mastery, Sword Mastery, Phantom Sprint, Nature's Guise, Vortex Spin, Quick Draw, Dust Kick, Fast Learner, Keen Eye, Sturdy Stance, Quick Patch, Basic Throw, Scent Mask, Tension Control, Resource Gatherer, Pulse Hacking, Vital Sense, Silent Strike, Ethereal Cloak, Blood Oath, Nano Restoration, Shield Piercer, Faerie Insight, Adrenal Burst, Arcane Veil, Phantom Recall, Energy Wave, Resilience Protocol.
Fused Skills: Survivalist, Crowd Manipulator, Phantasm Rush, Trap Mastery, Elemental Resistance, Heightened Awareness, Resources Handler, Shadow Hunt, Armament Expert, Brawler's Fury.
There were already a lot of them, so Shane decided to return to his place and start using his 7 Skill Fusion Talismans.
Shane sighed as he sat cross-legged in his room, contemplating the skills he would fuse.
Once the fusion was made, there was no turning back on it, so he didn't want to be hasty in his decisions. He considered some reasonable combinations but also some weird combinations that might be fruitful.
Anyway, after a moment of contemplation, he began the fusion process, focusing on skills with complementary effects to maximize their combined potential.
He took one of the Talisman and the system allowed him to select the Skills he wanted fuse…
[ Skill Fusion in progress. ]
[ Skill Fusion Successful. ]
[ You have obtained Predator's Edge Lv10 ]
[ Fusion of Silent Strike + Keen Eye + Scent Mask ]
[ Predator's Edge: Enhances the user's natural stealth capabilities, allowing them to move undetected with sharper focus and improved senses. Predator's Edge provides a slight advantage in detecting hidden enemies in low-light environments and masking personal scent, making the user harder to track by sight or smell.
Cost: 2 Spirit Points for 10 seconds ]
"That cheap?" Shane muttered as he realized that he could actually maintain this Skill for a long time.
Anyway, Shane continued as he fused several more Skills.
[ You have obtained Force Breaker Lv10 ]
[ Fusion of Shield Piercer + Vertical Slash + Momentum Shift ]
[ Force Breaker: A potent attack that lets the user shatter defenses with a single, powerful strike. Force Breaker grants the user increased momentum to pierce light and medium armor or shields, followed by a burst of speed to deliver additional strikes against exposed vulnerabilities.
Cost: 30 Spirit Points per cast ]
"Nice… This is good against Armored Zombies…" Shane nodded as he was satisfied with this result. He expected something similar to this, but seeing how cheap the cost was, made him really happy. After all, the three spells that were used to fuse the new Skills were a lot more expensive.
'Mhmm… I guess it's time to improve the Aura of Protection… It's no longer that effective.' Shane thought as he started once again. Enjoy more content from empire
It was another success and he swiftly checked the new Skill.
[ You have obtained Aura Sentinel Lv10 ]
[ Fusion of Aura of Protection + Vital Sense + Fast Regeneration ]
[ Aura Sentinel: Creates a protective aura around the user, accelerating natural regeneration while alerting them to threats within a 50-meter radius. Any hostile presence triggers a sensory alert.
Cost: 50 Spirit Points. ]
This decision to fuse his Fast Regeneration Skill also means that his new batch of Healing Tokens would change a lot…
'Ahh… Now that I think about it, Rylen and Aria should've made enough tokens already. I should visit them later.' Shane thought as he recalled the two kids he had recruited.
What do you think?
