Chapter 240 Training Ground (Part 1)

"But seriously? You're using the death element? Aren't you still an F-Rank? Why did you decide to start with such a rare element?" Galen said as he handed Raydon a black finger that had dried out and become rotten.

After accomplishing the task of bringing Raydon back to the family, they would normally reward him with an E-Rank inheritance key with the water element. However, after he told his father about his deal with Raydon and that he would give this key to him, they gave him a death element key instead of the water element key.

So Galen also thought that Raydon's element was Death. Since Death is a rare element, it would be much more difficult to control and master than ordinary elements, and he believed that because of this, it was not an element that would be appropriate for just a newly awakened item holder.

Typically, item holders enhance their knowledge and mastery by initially selecting more common elements and later expanding their repertoire to include rarer elements that can be combined with their chosen element. Galen's title was associated with the water element, and his parents' background also inclined him towards water-related skills. Nevertheless, in spite of these considerations, he made the decision to concentrate on and learn the second element, which was the ice element, only after he had reached the E-Rank.

In the end, elements were thought of as the substances and laws that make up the world, and the characteristics of each element were different from those of the other elements. Because the element they choose affects their skills and their bodies, they need to have an aptitude to this element, and if they want to become even stronger, they need to master their elements and learn how to control them in the most effective way possible.

'Is his title compatible with the death element, and does he have a high aptitude to this element? Is it possible that he is a genius? ' He reflected on that while watching Raydon's joyful reaction to receiving the inheritance key.

Galen speculated that Raydon's choice to focus on the death element was not driven by his own lack of knowledge, but rather influenced by the guidance of his high-ranking item holder master. Therefore, he came to the conclusion that if Raydon's master hadn't noticed Raydon's talent with the death element, the recommendation to specialize in that particular element wouldn't have been made.

'Sigh, he is already using a rare element, I should also focus more on my second element. ' Galen felt a tremendous weight suddenly resting on his shoulders after noticing his cousin's talent and deciding he should work harder.

While Galen was thinking about this, Raydon was staring intently at the system message that had recently appeared in front of him.

[Inheritance Dimension Key]

-Grade: Green

-Quality: N/A

-Skill: Participate

This key grants the user access to the Lich King's inheritance. Participation is limited to entities of E-Rank and lower only. The event is limited to a single participant at a time, and the key will vanish once the inheritance is successfully completed.

As Raydon read the item description, he couldn't help but notice the reference to the Lich King. It became evident to him that this inheritance was indeed closely tied to the death element. In addition to this, the fact that the key was shaped like the finger of a corpse provided further evidence of this assertion.

The inheritance descriptions do not explicitly state which element they are related to, which is unfortunate. However, item holders were able to figure out which element the inheritance was by paying attention to these two properties.

"Hey, would you like to come with me to the training ground?" Galen said when he saw Raydon smiling, still staring at the finger in his hand.

Because he still believed he was an F-Rank, he didn't think he would use the key now, and there was still one day left for the celebration, so it made him feel a little bit bad to see his cousin living all by himself in this enormous mansion.

Raydon pondered for a moment, gazing back at Galen. "Sure," he finally responded, accepting the invitation. He was indeed curious about the contents of the inheritance and had the urge to use it immediately. However, when Galen mentioned the training ground, Raydon thought it would be a good opportunity to postpone the inheritance and explore the family's training ground instead.

'I guess they can find me and deliver the item later. ' As he left the room, Raydon pondered.  After all, it was a blue-grade item, and he reasoned that he didn't need to wait in his room because they could locate him anywhere in the mansion when they prepared the item.

After following Galen for a while through a maze of winding corridors, Raydon eventually descended a flight of stairs that brought them to a massive cavernous space below ground.

"This place is even bigger than the mansion itself," Raydon remarked in surprise as he observed the surroundings.

The cavern deep underground was truly enormous, and its walls were constructed of polished white stones. Even though it was underground, it was brightly lit by an unidentified light source, making it appear almost as if it were daytime.

Raydon was taken aback by the scene as he took in the vastness of the underground area and observed how it appeared to stretch on forever. The area was brimming with different pieces of apparatus and training grounds for the item holders. Even the existence of cultivated fields suggested that unique resources suited to the needs of the item holders were being grown there.

''I guess it's your first time here, isn't it? '' Galen asked when he saw Raydon looking around curiously.

Even though he had previously participated in some trainings and learned some techniques, his family had never deemed it necessary to bring him here for training because they believed that he was in a fragile state both mentally and physically.

"So this is where item holders get their practice in, huh? Being a wealthy family is really something else. '' Raydon chuckled.
