Chapter 128: Chapter 128 – Voice-Activated Command
After doing that, he immediately vaulted over the open window and found himself on a ledge. He almost fell because he expected the footing would be vast, but thankfully, he managed to catch himself.
The light guide extended over to the nearby roof, which was separated from the ledge over 3 meters away. Normal people would have difficulty reaching the other side.
Thankfully, the game had prepared the solution for that.
[Activate your shoes' high jump ability with a keyword 'Shoes Jump']
"Oh, is it a voice-activated command?" Max raised his brows, intrigued by how the ability was activated. He thought he would need to press something to activate it, but it turned out to be more straightforward.
— The other methods are either harder or make it stealthier, and that's not fair for the police
— The voice-activation program is used so the police can hear what the thieves said and prepare accordingly
— It's to balance the game. The police's weapons are visible and have tape to shut thieves' mouths to stop them from activating their abilities.
— Yes
"I see."
The chat's explanation made sense. He grew curious about how the ability would affect him and how it would perform.
"Let's try it. Shoes Jump."
As soon as he said that, his white sneaker glowed and, when he realized it, he was already in the air. It took him by surprise, but it didn't take him long to adjust his body, and he landed perfectly on the roof of the other building, which was lower than the place he just robbed.
There was no impact whatsoever that existed in reality. Maybe it was also part of the ability to make the landing easier.
He looked around in a bit of confusion and looked at his legs. The glow around the sneakers had dimmed.
"What the… Why did I jump automatically when I activated the ability? What the hell is this deficit technology? I haven't moved my legs yet."
— Well, it's a voice-activated command
— lolol, your surprised look is so funny
— Holy, how can you land easily like that? You're not human!
— Many players who never watched a Midnight Heist's stream would fail on their first try. It's surprising he managed to do it
— What can I say, he's Breeze
— The 98% SR is shown here. His movement is insane!
"I know that it's a voice-activated command, but I thought it would allow me to jump whenever I want after I activate it." He explained. "Anyway, let's finish this tutorial soon. I just need to go to that hover car and run."
A hovercar in the distance had a glowing line over it, showing that it was his next goal. It was located right beside the stairs connected to the building he was on. He began to run toward it and entered the driver's seat.
Once he did that, he lost control of his character as it began to drive away from the crime scene. The police officers arrived just a few seconds after that, looked upset, and threw their guns to the ground.
Inside the hovercar, Max's character laughed evilly as he looked at the yield, a golden necklace. A black screen filled his screen with the words 'Success,' which appeared like fireworks in the middle.
When the black screen disappeared, he realized that he had returned to his seat in the bar earlier.
[Tutorial is finished! You can now join the match with other players. Enjoy the game!]
The game's announcement popped up in front of him.
"I guess that's the tutorial?"
— Easy
— That's just a breeze
— Nothing difficult
"That's right, it's too easy." He said, "I am not satisfied. I will enter the first matchmaking now. That was such an underwhelming tutorial. I thought an entire police squad would chase me, but they didn't even follow me once I got out of the window."
The tutorial was disappointing, but at least he knew how to activate the costume's ability and that it would immediately activate once he said the keyword.
Being a cop would be simpler; he just needed to find the thieves and cuff them. That was why there was no tutorial to become a cop. And while they had no ability, their guns and equipment would solve almost everything they needed to catch the enemies.
Before starting his first matchmaking, he gave his viewers a warning.
"I won't say anything if we ever meet, guys. But don't just target me and play seriously. And I know some of you guys know where I am in the Lobby, but please refrain from finding me. Ah, feel free to greet me if we meet, though. But, for now, let's have fun together in the game."
There was no need to stop them from joining the matchmaking or talk to him. He played a multiplayer game exactly to play with his viewers. But if there was someone who would actively target or bother him… Then, the story would be different.
— Yeah! Play fair
— Stream sniper is the worst. Being a fan is good, but play fair!
— Go go, Breeze! Steal the target and run from the cop!
— What if he becomes a cop? That would be hilarious
— Cop Breeze? He will catch the thieves in under a minute!
— Let's go matchmaking! I hope I am in the same room as him!
"Hahaha, pray to the god of RNG if you want to be in the same room as me. Alright, I will now press play!"
The screen in front of him, which showed Midnight Heist's menu, turned into a stopwatch. It began to count from one, increasing every second, as the word 'Finding Match' blinked slowly under it.
After a few seconds, it disappeared and was replaced with 'Match Found!'
[Map: Beach]
[Your role is as… a Thief!]
[Target: Sea Ring]
He was transported to the map after three consecutive screens from the game system appeared in front of him.
A gentle breeze hit his face, accompanied by the scent of the sea. Soft sensation of standing on top of the sand could be felt as he opened his eyes.
Looking around, he found three other people around him. They were all wearing the same outfits, the beginner ones. Including him, there was a girl and two boys. Just like him, they also looked at each other. And then…
"Oh my god! Is this real? I am one team with Breeze!" The girl with long black hair squealed excitedly as she covered her lower face with her hands. "Hyaa! I can't believe this! I bought it impulsively, but I can play with Breeze now!
I-It's nice to meet you, I am LovelyOtter!"
"Ah!"
Hearing the name, Max nodded slightly. He recognized the name. It was one of his first viewers who helped him to control the chat through her donation. He didn't expect LovelyOtter to be a girl, though.
— Damn Otter!
— She's so lucky! Vice-leader, you're unfair!
— How lucky! I want to play too!
The chat expressed their jealousy over LovelyOtter while the person in question looked at Breeze with a clouded gaze.
As for Max himself, he decided not to look at the chat when he was inside the matchmaking so he could concentrate on the game. He would only reply to them when he was in the waiting Lobby. That was why he didn't realize that LovelyOtter was called vice-leader by other female viewers.
"Nice to meet you. Good luck, and let's have fun."
"Yes!"
The other two boys knew that they were playing with a streamer. They also told Max their names, Potatohard125 and carmetwo.
It was everyone's first matchmaking, so no one knew what to do except to steal the target, Sea Ring, from the building they could see on top of the cliff, standing beautifully in front of the starry sky.
As much as they wanted to talk about a plan, they could only think of a rough one as they were waiting for the countdown to hit 0.
LovelyOtter really was excited and just accepted all the plans that Max proposed. The other two, either feeling pressured or not knowing what they needed to do, agreed with it too.
"Let's go!" Max commanded.
And when the countdown was over, they put on a pure white mask and followed him. He had become the thief leader in such a short time.
— This is so exciting!
— Beach map, huh? It's one of the easiest to escape
— Good luck, leader Breeze!
— Vice-Leader Otter, good luck!
