Chapter 163: Chapter 163 – Shooting Ad [2]
An hour had passed since Max was given the script.
Director Hugo was pacing around the shooting area, supervising the preparations made by the shooting team under him. The team was professional, so he only needed to check their work—lighting, sounds, cameras. Everything was in place and ready to go.
But there was one problem.
'A fucking streamer. Why don't they just hire an athlete or an actor, but a streamer?'
Almost all of them were half-assed stuff. Because of their affiliation and work, they thought everything was a joke, and only one in ten thousand did something seriously. Ads? They would do it within their capability and never tried. Acting? They were bad at it.
Jokesters were probably apt to describe them.
'At least this one is polite and can control his emotions. But if he makes a mistake or whines just a little bit… I will cut him off. No matter what they say, an athlete or professional actor is better. His video was good, but that probably took him many days to make.'
Just like Max, Director Hugo wanted to judge his skill first. His trust in streamers had gone since an incident in the distant past that made him famous for being short-tempered.
Sitting on his tall chair, the director waited for everyone to be ready. The second actor, a newbie from a certain agency his friend had, was ready on the spot. He had been briefed and given his script last night.
And just a few seconds later, Max appeared from the waiting room wearing the clothes prepared for the shooting. His thin makeup further enhanced his handsome features. The white clothes with the blue lining he wore seemed to fit perfectly to his body.
However, the star of this shoot, the new running shoes from NoFeet, hadn't been used yet. He still used a normal white sneaker that was released a year ago by the same brand.
Looking at his serious expression, Director Hugo nodded softly before focusing on his crew.
"Prepare for the shooting! We will do the first part and finish it before 9! Brian, get ready for your shoot with Breeze. Move right now!"
Max noticed the busy movement in the room and walked toward Director Hugo. The bearded man's serious face was a bit scary.
"Director, what should I do? Because I am a newbie, I will follow your instructions." He asked politely, trying to sound friendly.
"Go there and move. Get some warm-up or something. You remember the script?"
"I do." He nodded at the unfriendly question from the director. "I memorize them all."
"At least your head is useful, it seems. Don't mess up, hear me? We are short in time."
Max followed his instructions and motioned for Michael to wait for him on the side. He had found out about Director Hugo's personality from their brief chat.
'He's someone who can only be convinced with actions. Probably, some streamers or young actors have disappointed him in the past. But looking at the second actor, the former is most likely the case.'
Then, he needed to deliver just as he planned before.
"Hello, nice to meet you. I am Breeze, a streamer affiliated with Biozone Entertainment." He greeted the second actor, who wore similar clothes but the opposite color, and extended his hand.
The young actor smiled upon seeing him.
"Ah, it's nice to meet you. My name is Brian. Hahaha, I am affiliated with Rainbow Deer Agency and a tag game newbie athlete. Let's work hard together."
They shook hands with each other. Following that, Max chatted with Brian while waiting for the preparation to finish. He also did a little stretch so he wouldn't be injured when getting serious in the ad planning later.
After a while, the director called loudly.
"It's ready! The first scene, arriving at Tag House! Both actors, ready."
"I think that's our cue," Max said to Brian, who followed his stretching routine. The actor seemed to be kind and friendly.
"You're right. Hahaha, let's do our best. Also, should I go a bit slower in the scene? Even though I am a newbie, I participated in a tag game before."
"There is no need for that. Please give your best so we can get good footage. I believe I can manage to match your speed."
"If that's what you want, then sure," Brian answered with a smile.
Both of them were prepared in their locations. Many bulky cameras were pointed at them from many angles to make sure they captured perfect images.
Max was slightly nervous, but that was gone when he concentrated. For him, those cameras were non-existent. Only iron bars, ladders, scaffolding, and other obstacles were laid bare. This was his playground.
A person on the side gave a sign with a hologram screen. It counted down from 3. When it reached 0, Brian suddenly spoke.
"Come on! Let's go!"
The actor was like a different person, waving at Max with a smile. Remembering the script, he also smiled and stepped into the light.
"Wait for me!"
In this ad, the story was about two young men, one normal and one skilled in tag games. Both of them often played together, chasing after one another.
Brian acted as the friend who was pretty skilled in the tag game. And the first scene was about Max chasing after him.
Running toward the corner of the Tag House, Brian put up a mocking expression.
"Come and get me!"
At the provocative word, Max leaped forward. He did remember the script, and he was supposed to lose here. But his body moved freely. He jumped through the gaps of the iron bars and reached Brian easily.
The cameramen and Director Hugo, who were used to watching tag game, were pretty surprised. That move was so risky and dangerous.
However, their surprise went unnoticed by Max. He extended his hand and was about to catch Brian. At that moment…
"Cut!!"
Director Hugo came back to his senses and shouted.
Max immediately stopped and looked back. Brian, who was frozen in surprise and ducked instinctively, also looked at Director Hugo.
The bearded man pointed his hand to both of them.
"That's not in the script, idiots! Redo it! And you, Breeze. Don't move so fast before you wear the sponsored shoes. Hold yourself back a little bit!"
"Ah, yeah." Max scratched the back of his head, chuckling dryly, "My apologies, Director."
"Tsk! Go back to your position. We will start shooting the first scene again."
Turning to Brian, Max apologized in a low voice. The young actor smiled bitterly and said that he didn't mind.
Meanwhile, Director Hugo hid his mouth curled up slightly into a smile behind his hand.
'It seems like this streamer is not half bad. I will work him to the bones.'
He secretly made a bit of arrangement to the script and changed the ending. His hands moved pretty quickly. At first, he thought the streamer wouldn't be able to move as well as in the VR world. But he was wrong.
Even in IRL, the young man managed to make one of the hardest moves in the Tag Game without any problem. It looked so easy that Director Hugo thought he was a professional athlete. And that expression… He looked genuinely excited about chasing Brian.
'I can use the ending I have in mind then. Are my eyes now clouded?' He asked himself, but he soon shook his head. 'No, I don't think so. That young man, Breeze, is just one in the ten thousand.'
Closing the screen, he looked at the two young men in the distance. They were waiting for his signal.
"First scene, take 2. Start!"
