Greatest Streamer System

Chapter 423 – Head-hurting Quest

On a grand stage, decorated with many lights, two people dressed in a similar suit and one in a monochrome dress stood in the center while holding a microphone. A suspenseful music resounded, followed by a soft melody from a piano.

"Ladies and Gentlemen! Welcome to the cutest, charming, and most dazzling Diva's concert! Today, I, Peter Spencer, as White Lily's brother will be your MC. Accompanying me today, in my birthday concert, are…"

One of the men, with a handsome feature and tidy hair, exclaimed excitedly and pointed at his side.

"Ferin here! Hahaha, this is fun."

"Breeze here… Good morning… Is everyone having fun?"

"Stop!" Ferin suddenly shouted and stopped Max. "Where is your energy? Put some energy in your voice. Do you want this concert to feel like a graveyard, Breeze? You should do it like this. Like this!"

She tried to show how to do it better than his unenergetic response.

But Max couldn't care less. He sighed and looked at both Peter and Ferin.

"I know what to do and how to MC the concert, but… Are you guys for real? Ferin is fine, but Peter. Just do it normally. Please." He pleaded.

Would a normal MC introduce themselves as the singer's brother? No. They wouldn't.

In the first place, having an MC at the start of the concert is just to hype the audience up and let the singer have time to prepare. After the opening, they wouldn't appear again, so there was no need for an introduction.

'My head hurts… I just prepared a few lines to start the concert, but Peter thinks he needs to be a real MC like those of variety shows. And why should he say his birthday concert? It's Lily's first concert for god sake!'

Maybe having an MC is a mistake from the start. They should just leave and let Ferin do a prep talk alone. That would have a better effect. Her energy was contagious. The audience would be left excited for the concert.

"I need to make sure they know about it," Peter said in an almost certain voice, looking Max straight in the eyes.

As a response, Max and Ferin looked at him as if he was sick in the head.

"Are you serious?" The ever so casual Ferin asked in disbelief, "Peter, I know you are obsessed with your sister. But this is her stage. Don't make it weird, okay?"

"Weird? What part of my introduction is weird?"

'So that's the part he caught?' Max sighed once again. He would let Ferin deal with this one.

The model gave Peter an ear of what was considered weird and what he shouldn't do in another person's concert. Their job was just as a prelude, nothing more.

Max felt like giving up even though he had practiced this for a few days. He looked at Peter, who nodded in understanding.

"So no introduction aside from our name and that's it? We just talk about what the audience can expect and praise my little sister. Leave the latter part to me. You can handle the audience."

Satisfied with his job, Peter once again nodded. Ferin looked at Max and gave him a thumbs up.

'I guess that's better than before.' He nodded at Ferin and returned her gesture. She had done a good job.

Rather than stopping him from doing something, she redirected his interest to something that he liked. Praising Lily and recounting her achievements would be an easy job for Peter. If he was about to say something personal, both Max and Ferin could stop him anytime.

Moving on, they tried the new method and it was… good enough for amateurs like them.

Following the trio MC, Lily's rehearsal started. She used a microphone and tried to sing normally without putting any effort. Even so, her voice charmed the staff, except for those responsible for sound.

"Add more treble. Yes, it should be a bit higher. The bass is overpowering it. We should balance to bring out her voice more." Zaza-P busily instructed everyone so the sound came out perfect.

Many people answered him and ran around fixing everything. Max watched them all from the empty spectator seat and sighed.

For the last few days, he was sighing at pretty much a few times an hour. The reason for that was because of the new quest he received from the system.

<Quest:

- Making a Record

No newbie streamer has ever reached 50,000 viewers in the whole livestream! As the Greatest Streamer Candidate, achieve the impossible!

Progress: 25,721/50,000

Reward: A glimpse of the future

Deadline: 30th July

Penalty upon failure: A rumor about your family will be shared online and cause a crack in your relationship.>

"This is killing me."

A glimpse of the future? That kind of reward wasn't something Max wanted. But… The penalty was too much. The system's UI had also changed slightly after the last update. Maybe this was the real system? The rewards from before were all too sweet and now the real one showed itself.

"50 thousand viewers… I can't get that in a normal way. I should hold my event. That way I have a chance, but… The deadline. My head hurts."

If he failed, then he got the penalty. And if he succeeded, he got something that he didn't want to see. Besides, was the system so powerful that it could allow him to see the future?

As someone who lived in the present, Max wasn't someone who loved to see even a glimpse of the future. He was… scared. He feared the future. This came from the time when he was hospitalized. He didn't know whether he had time at all, so he feared the future.

'A crack in my relationship and the rumor of my unknown family… Should I just fail this quest? But which relationship will crack? After coming to this world, I made many. I am afraid it's the one with Lily. And if I am able to glimpse the future, what if the future isn't something that I want? That scares me more.'

A crack in the relationship could be mended. But the future? He didn't know whether he could even fix it.

"Fuck."

"Woah… Should I not be here?"

Someone answered Max's curse. He raised his head and saw a platinum-haired girl standing on the side, raising her hand.

"Ya! If you feel like shit and need someone to talk to, I can accompany you for a little. What do you say? I make good company, you know?"n/ô/vel/b//in dot c//om
