Chapter 45 Time To Play God
Gad leaned to the side to whisper his continuation to Loid.
"I had covered myself in my slime. It was repulsive enough to exclude me from the gory sight that day."
Hisha walked ahead slowly, picking in on their conversation with a smirk.
"That's disgusting!" Loid gagged and pegged his nose while shaking his head.
Not understanding what he meant, Gad took a sniff of himself and commented on the fact that he wasn't carrying the putrid smell.
Sssshff!
A rustle from the bushes had Hisha stop in his tracks.
Loid had managed to pull back Gad before he collided with Hisha in front of them.
"Woaaah..."
Immediately covering Gad's mouth with his hand, he too could feel a demeaning presence lurking in the shadows.
[Alert! Danger approaching!]
Hisha's senses were heightened after the warning. He had originally thought it was a lost animal that he could prey on, but after the warning, it finally registered to him the seriousness of the situation he finds himself in.
Slowly letting go of Gad's mouth, Loid rushed to his lord's side, taking a defensive stance and activating the glow in his eyes, as did the Sux that outlined his body.
Hisha wondered where Kritz was at the moment, he had been too far gone to be let off so easily.
Blub!
Blub!
Gad's attention was drawn to the bubbling stream behind. Taking a few steps back and closer to Hisha, he pointed in the direction.
"Something is in that stream." He alerted before clenching his hand in a fist and opening it once more.
Floating bubbles hovered above his palm.
Shooting the bubble in the direction, it dropped into the stream and with a snap of his fingers, the bubbles exploded with their acidic content.
"Ahhhh!!!"
The loud yell of pain only confirmed his suspicions–someone or something was lurking in the waters.
"At least they're dead, right?" Loid tried to make light of the situation.
Hisha let out a light chuckle at the attempt of the unidentified group sabotaging his hunt.
Loid and Gad looked at Hisha with adoration, internally excited about seeing him in action after such a long while since Kritz had been by his side.
"Lord Hisha..." Loid had begun but was stopped with the rise of Hisha's hand.
"Find Kritz, I have a feeling that gazelle was part of an elaborate plan to lure him away," Hisha explained and made brief eye contact with Gas and Loid.
[You're going to take down the threat, alone?]
HTC questioned out of curiosity, eager to know what its host had in mind.
'You'd know, so enough.' Hisha replied with a little grin and had his head lowered so his hair cast a shadow.
An eerie vibe seethed off Hisha as he made mental preparation for what he was to face.
"My lord we can't forsake our duties of guarding you with our life," Loid begged to fight alongside him.
"We can't?" Gad muttered timidly, knowing his limitations as a guard and not a soldier.
"Find Kritz, report back only when you've spotted him." He ordered.
Gad pulled on Loid to comply and begin searching for him while the trail was still fresh.
Whoosh!
Whoosh!
Sharpened tusks propelled with great force and speed in their direction.
Looking all around him, he froze time to observe all around him.
Making out the shadows of his attackers and the direction from which they came.
'3 at two o'clock, 5 at twelve o'clock, 4 at nine o'clock.' Hisha made a mental note with a smirk.
[What do you plan on doing, o mighty overlord?]
HTC mockingly joked at the expense of Hisha's mood.
'It's about time I played god.' Hisha had a twisted smirk.
Taking six steps forward, he reached out for one of the 17-inch long spiral and narrow tusks.
Turning around just one of the tusks, he gave a flick to its bottom, aligning it so it could lodge into the arm of one to keep a survivor for questioning.
Taking the same steps back, he deactivated his time manipulation ability.
[Ability: Pyrokinesis]
'Now burn!' His aura darkened as he watched the tusks directed at them burn which resonated with those who had hurled them in their direction.
All except one which had been torn through the trees and branches, hitting its target in the shoulder.
The sound of rustles in the bushes could be heard as the only survivor was knocked out unconscious.
Loid and Gad had their eyes widened as they watched tusks burst out in flames and several persons in the shadows light up as well.
Their screams were far gone after the flames had consumed them, leaving nothing but ashes in its wake.
They stiffly turned their heads toward Hisha in horror at the sight before them.
"Leave now!" He commanded once more as his body shook from the seething anger of his subordinate missing.
Loid and Gad bowed slightly before sprinting as fast as their legs could go in search of Kritz and far from the anger of Hisha after the attempt at ambushing them.
Taking long strides toward the sole survivor, he looked down at the one person he could find answers to.
[He deserves death like the rest]
In times like this, Hisha was more than glad to agree with HTC. There was no way he was going to tolerate a challenge and scheming plans against him and his rule.
The survivor had just barely opened his eyes when he was met with a glare from Hisha.
Picking him by the neck and raising him above so his legs dangled, Hisha wasted no time in breaking a rib on the survivor's side with his tight grip.
Krrk!
"Ahhh!" He yelped in pain and trembled in Hisha's grasp.
"Tell me, who put you up for this?" He hissed in irritation, needing to join the two he had sent in search of Kritz.
Thrashing in his grasp, the survivor gasped for breath, hopeful of a chance to escape once the backup arrived.
[Alert! Threat rapidly approaching]
Looking over his shoulder, Hisha could sense something rapidly approaching behind him.
