Chapter 38: Hunt (2)
Chapter 38: Hunt (2)
In the forest overflowing with monsters, a human was walking as if he was on a picnic.
It was an unbelievable sight but if one considered just the aura coming out of him, one would be convinced.
The human was tall and slim and he wore a cape over his shoulders and a hood over his head.
The destination of his picnic could be seen from the reflections in the blade hanging on his waist.
The blade didn't have a sheath to cover it up; the blade was hanging directly from his waist.
The blade was sharp so just a single wrong move would cut off the man's feet.
And the picnic...the beings reflected off of the blade's surface was a monster. To be exact, a monster pack was forming in front of the man.
If one will pick which side to choose, in regards to winning, one would probably pick the monster pack.
After all, the monster pack consists of the most dangerous monsters seen in the forest; the Fear Worms!
The Fear Worms are ridiculously huge and long, making a path similar to a snake's when they move. They were four meters tall; the width can't even be measured.
If those huge things formed a pack and moved together...the damage doesn't even need to be explained.
Moreover, they had a natural barrier along their skin, a thick acid that becomes their weapon.
However...the man who had a light air around him was just standing and the Fear Worms that would normally charge about were not moving.
No...the Fear Worms were moving but it just couldn't be seen with the naked eye. After all, the Fear Worms were shuddering in fear!
Seeing this, the man let out a sigh as he removed the hood from his face.
"I can't believe I have to do something like this..."
The man had an innocent face; well-structured jaws and nose, his lips and eyes were red. His hair was unkempt and it had the color of the night.
The only different thing would be that the man had a mark of a sword on his right palm; it was small but noticeable.
The man would definitely be expected to die at the hands of the Fear Worm but...
Suuuu.
When the man lashed out, several of the Fear Worms were destroyed. He didn't even move from his spot. It was a one-sided massacre.
And when in front of such a situation, the instincts of a monster would work. There's no way it'll just take a beating like that. That's why it would... run.
Swaaaaah.
"Kyoooo!!!"
The Fear Worms who survived desperately tried to survive as they ran about in all four directions.
Seeing that, the man quickly moved and chased after them. It was quite a strange scene considering that the man was laidback before.
"Che. I forgot to make sure they run east."
The man quickly caught up with them and making sure this time, he always appeared in directions that would make the Fear Worms go on the right path.
This happened until the sun was staring at him. Looking up at that sun, the man mumbled.
"I better go back..."
The man then disappeared after making a mess on the west of Raoz Forest, the place where the mountains were near.
****
"Dawn, it's probably time for us to wreak havoc around this place again. We have to clear this place before the unknown goblins come to us."
Dawn, Karkas, and the Elder were outside, with both of Karkas and the Elder standing behind Dawn diagonally from him.
They seemed to have noticed that the surroundings were becoming too uncontrolled. Well, they wouldn't be goblins if they couldn't do something as simple as that.
"I wanted to find that human first before we go out but...it's too bad. I don't want to fight on a board that has unknown factors."
"..."
The two of them didn't reply to Dawn's words. They simply listened to his words as vassals should and gave advice when he needed them.
Though Karkas was thinking about the other day when Dawn was in a state of confusion.
Karkas tried to give his advice to the worried Dawn but...
"King, what about dispatching a separate unit to try and find that human?"
"We don't have to. It will just unnecessarily create a rift in our forces."
Of course, the reason Karkas said that was because he thought that he had to resolve the worries of the king. But since the goblin himself told that it was alright, Karkas was satisfied in putting it later.
Shuuuu.
"Hmm?"
"King, there's something Didi told me to tell you."
Silence descended on them but it was disturbed by a goblin. It was Una who came here out of concern.
Una quickly bent on one knee and lowered his head as he waited for permission to speak.
"What is it?"
"Yes. It's about the monsters who were attacking us, Didi suspects that we might get pincered."
Dawn naturally knew that the south was an uncharted territory right now but...
"In the north too?"
"Yes. Too many monsters are appearing even though we are near in the village."
The benefits of living and having a village reside in the safety. Monsters with sufficient strength wouldn't carelessly attack the village, more so if the village has a strong goblin.
Of course, there were events when they were attacked but that was because the monster couldn't read the difference in strength between the village's chief and itself.
Hearing Didi's suggestion made Dawn decorate his face with a frown. Even in his retinue of goblins, Didi was a spectacular found of talent when it comes to battle. He was the second strongest in the village.
Even Karkas and the Elder had worried expressions on their faces. Didi's word about the monsters was most definitely correct. No, since it was him that took matters on his hands, just the fact that he made a suggestion told the sincerity of the situation.
Dawn stood up, having decided on what to do. He spoke with a low voice but strangely enough, it reverberated throughout the whole village.
"We hunt."
"Ohh!!"
After all, the cries of the goblins who weren't near them reached his ears...
****
A goblin hunt started.
A hunt for and by the goblins started.
Leading this hunt was the 'fake king' of the goblins, Dawn.
By his side is Karkas who were focusing on coordinating the goblins.
A mass force of over 150 goblins was moving and sweeping the forest's monsters.
Just because they were goblins doesn't mean they could be negligent about the matters on the battle.
"Goho! Goho! Kuru!"
A normal goblin was pointing to a direction for Karkas to know which direction he was talking about. Karkas was a Goblin Thinker and he could understand the vague words.
This understanding made him know who was talking to who even though they were loud and noisy.
Karkas looked at his king and Dawn readily nodded his head.
"Call Didi! Make that arrogant Bearus bow to the king!"
"Chweee!"
As soon as the goblin heard the order, an excited cry came out of his mouth as he ran.
Dawn looked at that goblin as he thought about how...useless he was.
---Am I gonna get my turn...
He knew that his men were getting stronger thanks to his influence over the Blessings of the Battlefield but he never expected that his goblins would take care of almost every monster they met.
Still, it was hard to meet a monster that has the capability to do a battle with him. The goblin's Blessings of the Battlefield was better than the strength that the monster's rank gave them.
He belatedly realized this fact but that meant that most monsters of the same rank wouldn't even hold a candle to him. He still doesn't know if the Blessings of the Battlefield was the same for the monster's ranks.
Boosh!
With a thundering sound came down a huge body of a Bearus that was beaten to death by Didi. His adjutant, Una, was as conspicuous as Didi so they were easy to see.
Dawn looked over them and saw that some have light injuries but those would heal. A goblin's body was their advantage. For better or for worse, they didn't have a casualty during the first fight.
The opponents they had were skeletons, apeman, orcs, and finally that Bearus. It took a lot of time since he didn't participate but considering their past conditions, it was a record-breaker.
His gaze moved on towards the forest, the forest that was a boring field for him but it turned out to be an exciting battleground. And then he laughed.
He now realized why he found it boring. He just didn't have an opponent. He thought that the forest was small that it wouldn't be able to give him one but...
---Humans, monsters...and goblins.
I'll hunt them down!
"March!"
