Chapter 225 Gregorio’s Army Retreats
Chapter 225 Gregorio’s Army Retreats
Two days later, the US delegates finally left the base.
Manuel Chavez stood outside the building and watched their helicopter fly overhead.
"They're finally leaving." Muttered his assistant.
In the last few days, Manuel Chavez received a report from Cedrick that some US agents were gathering information about their base. Manuel Chavez didn't know what the US was seeking, but he pretended that they didn't notice their actions. Arlan also told him to just let them be so he didn't act rashly.
Manuel Chavez turned his head towards Cedrick who was standing behind him. "Do you think they discovered anything, Commander Cedrick?" He asked in a low voice.
Cedrick adjusted his glasses and replied. "We have already hidden the Black Dragon Assault Helicopters and the battle tanks so they should have nothing to see here."
"Is that so?" Manuel Chavez furrowed his eyebrows. He had a feeling that the US agents had found something in the base.
Cedrick noticed the president's worried face, but he didn't say anything more. In truth, they had deliberately left some clues for the US agents according to Arlan's instructions. This was to make them think that Maharlika wasn't the weak country that they had always assumed.

Meanwhile, James had a gloomy look on his face as he contacted the US president. His task was to persuade the two researchers from Maharlika to go to the US, but the two stubborn fools rejected him without hesitation. Furthermore, the agents responsible for gathering information also discovered something shocking. It turns out that Maharlika has a large supply of advanced weaponry. This was completely different than what they originally believed. "Hello, Mr. President!" James greeted as soon as the call connected.
The US president nodded his head. "How's your task?" He asked with a calm look.
James shook his head and replied. "I tried to persuade the researchers, but they refused all my offers. I even offered them a high position and high salary, but they still rejected me."
The US president frowned upon hearing this. "It seems like they are loyal to their country, but it doesn't matter. We have more talented people than them so it's not a big deal. What about the investigations? Did you guys discover anything?" The researchers weren't that important. He only sent James to see if he could persuade them to switch sides.
James' expression suddenly turned serious as he spoke. "Our agents found something shocking in their base. I'll send you the images."
The US president opened the images sent by James. "This is…"
"Mr. President, we found these weapons in their secret storage. There were still more rooms that we hadn't infiltrated, but our agents retreated to avoid being caught. We also managed to get some of these weapons and after some preliminary tests, our experts found out that they are not just ordinary weapons. They could be compared to our best guns!"
The US president was shocked by his words. "You mean they are capable of producing highly advanced weapons that are on par with our own?" He was in disbelief. Maharlika wasn't a military powerhouse country. In fact, it was considered one of the weakest countries in the world.
James nodded his head solemnly. "It's hard to believe, but we have the evidence to prove it. Each gun has the mark of their local weapon manufacturing company, the Arms Corporation of Maharlika."
The US president leaned on his chair and rubbed his chin. "No wonder they didn't hesitate to put up those outdated guns in the trading platform. It turns out they have more powerful weapons in their arsenal."
"Indeed!" James nodded in agreement.
"Come back here and tell me the rest in person." The US president said before he ended the call.

At this moment, the first batch of survivors in Palawan finally arrived in Last City. When they got off the ship, dozens of soldiers and medical personnel came to welcome them.
The first batch of survivors was composed of elderly people, children, and the sick.
The medical personnel immediately inspected the sick people and brought them to the infirmary for treatment. As for the elderly and the children, they were brought to an isolation facility where they would be quarantined.
Gregorio's army who were responsible for rescuing these people were still in Palawan. Their mission was far from over. There were still many places that they had to visit. However, a huge portion of Palawan was already converted into a forest. The exponential growth of the forest didn't stop even after the repeated bombing of the province. More and more evolved creatures emerged from the forest and this made things more complicated for Gregorio's army.
"Commander, we can't go in any further. Our people have discovered a huge number of evolved creatures three miles from our location. One of which is this colossal creature." A soldier reported to Gregorio and showed him an image of a huge creature. It was an enlarged version of a praying mantis. It was way over a hundred meters in length and its sharp appendages looked extremely intimidating.
Gregorio frowned upon seeing the massive creature in the image. Even their weapons might not be able to do something against that beast. "Is there any word from the headquarters?" He asked.
The soldier shook his head. "The headquarters didn't give another mission."
Gregorio pondered for a moment before he let out a sigh. "Let's retreat." Forcing their way in would only result in casualties. Gregorio wasn't foolish enough to trade the lives of his men for the sake of his achievements. Besides, he had already done enough.
The soldier heaved a sigh of relief upon hearing this. "Yes, sir!"
"Inform the army to retreat!" Gregorio shouted over the radio. For some reason, he felt like a heavy burden was lifted off his back when he ordered this retreat. In the past few days, his army encountered numerous incidents and some of his men were even injured.
"Sir, what about the cleanup team? Do you want me to inform them about our retreat?" The soldier asked. The cleanup team wasn't directly under Gregorio's command. They were working separately so he had no control over them.
Gregorio thought for a moment before he nodded his head. "Inform them. They are also our comrades."
"Yes, sir!"
