Chapter 37: Temporary Goodbyes
Chapter 37: Temporary Goodbyes
While the school was figuring out what to do about the messed-up cameras and seeing just how Kaden and Sky pulled off such a feat, the principal seemed to have formed his hypothesis, but Kaden and Sky had no idea of this.
They were currently walking back to the school's front gates with the rest of their group as they had been dismissed for today since they also passed the exam. They were told to come back next Monday for their first day of school. Kaden had been surprised that they weren't starting the next day but he didn't complain. After all he went through he was very tired mentally and physically. Matter of fact the past few days he had experienced and done more than he had ever done in previous years which made him quite happy but still very tired.
"How did you guys end up 'dying' in the exam?" Kaden asked Ashly once they made it halfway towards the gate.
When Kaden said this the faces of Timmy, Ken, and Ashly had a slightly scared expression as they remembered it but Ken answered before Ashly could reply, "We had a Great Ape appear out of nowhere. At first we were doing quite well and even killed two more Rattlers but once that ape appeared we were totally destroyed. The first thing we did was try attacking the ape head-on but when we got in front of the ape and started fighting it always had an upper hand in the face-to-face action which led to the death of our Rattler." Ken said with a sad expression.
At this moment Ashly chimed in, "Not only did we lose the Rattler but once it died we all fell from a high height since we were on top of its head which made Timmy die because he landed on his head and then me and Ken injured from the fall. Once that happened there were no trees around and no hiding place in sight which made us easy kills for that beast." Ashly said still slightly annoyed still at the thought of how they died.
Kaden remembered how angry she seemed earlier and realized the reasoning behind that now.
Ashly turned to Emma as the group walked and had her own question to ask this time, "So how did you end up 'dying' despite them making it until the end?" Ashly asked her with interest.
Emma made a slightly unhappy face similar to the one Ashly showed as she thought about the way that she ended up being eliminated from the exam, "I saved Kaden so he could keep going. I knew he would have more impact than myself so it only seemed necessary." She said despite being obviously displeased that she was eliminated still.
Ashly was a little shocked at this situation as she thought that Emma would not be the type of person to do such a thing for someone but it seems that she was wrong. Everyone else was thinking along the same lines except for Ken who looked a little jealous that he got such special attention but he knew that he got Emma's time now due to him joining the 7.
After they talked about their experiences a little more and saying thanks to each other the group began splitting up at the front of the gate but there was someone already waiting there for one of their members.
"Hello Sky, I will be your transporter. Please follow me to the bus to await your transport to your new living space." A man with sunglasses said as he waited at the front gate for Sky.
Most of the people in their group had completely forgotten that Sky was indeed a criminal in the first place. They had considered her a normal student like them though a little too much into Kaden but that was nothing that they couldn't tolerate except for maybe Emma.
Sky had a sad look on her face as she was holding onto Kaden's arm once more. It had become a usual thing to both of them now which neither minded. At first Kaden thought it was a bit strange but now he was just enjoying the attention and company of Sky so he was a little sad as well seeing that she had to leave them now.
"Do they have you guys staying somewhere special?" Kaden asked as he turned his head down towards Sky.
Sky nodded her head meekly showing off how sad she was that she was leaving, "Yes, we are staying in a small dorm complex that has been assigned to us off-campus. That way they can house all of us in the same area and take us all to school and back at the same time." She said.
Normally she would have been furious that someone was trying to force her away from any moments with Kaden now that they can finally meet in person but she knew that if she made a big scene now they would send people to restrain her and then after that she would not be able to spend time with him anymore which was much worse than losing a few hours each day.
"I see, well I'm sorry to hear that but at least now we can spend time together. I never thought we would end up like this but I'm glad that you came when you did and now have many memories to make." Kaden said with a smile as she reluctantly let go of him as the man was beckoning for her to hurry up.
She smiled as well at his words and nodded her head, "I'm more than happy than you could ever know. See you soon!" She said happily and then began following the man away.
Kaden watched her walk away until he could no longer see her and she did the same as she kept peeking over her shoulder to glance at Kaden and then smiled when she realized he was still watching which he found to be quite cute.
"She's the best." He thought to himself as he walked out the school gate.
