Chapter 411 Entering The Eternal Jade City
411 Entering The Eternal Jade City
"There will surely be an Immortal God or two sent after me when they figure out I ran off with the loot of all four Dukes, the life of an Immortal General, and the Nine Black Qilin Horses," Azmodeus said, his eyes falling on the pitch-black reindeer riding beside him and Rudolph. "Though they may not seem like it, every single one of my reindeer has the potential to become an Immortal God. And as such, they are an invaluable asset to the Azureflask Empire if they plan on recovering after their fallout with the surrounding nations."
Clip, clop. Clip, clip.
The diamond horseshoes of the reindeer clacked against the slightly singed grass of a low-hanging mountain as Azmodeus traveled directly under the fighting of four Immortal Gods in the skies above. They were relatively safe on the ground floor, but it was better to be cautious than indifferent, so he skedaddled out of there far faster than he came in.
While making his way out of the blackened lands, he made sure to pick up any loot that had fallen from the heavens, planning to borrow it all until further notice. By the end of his hauling, he had filled up his entire storage rings full of loot, and even the right arm of a Grade 6 Immortal God, which would surely make for good pill material or selling equity. Either way, it would be put to good use, same with the three eyeballs and two legs that he found earlier.
Any part of an Immortal God ancestor was already worth a lot of money, and if they were cut off when the owner was most active, then the quality of the part would be worth far more. Yet, when it came to Azmodeus, he planned to use the parts in concocting high-rank pills.
Although he didn't mention it much, he had been keeping his various professions at maximum capacity since the very beginning. In fact, his Alchemy and Formation Rune Array Master Professions were already considered to be at the very peak of the Immortal God Rank, verging on a level rarely seen in all of the Eternal Jade Heavens Immortal Realm.
As Azmodeus relished in the feeling of acquiring more valuable loot, the Azureflask Empire's border had already been crossed. The intense Immortal God fighting had all but died, meaning less loot, but also the opportunity for far greater amounts of loot.
Right in front of him was a massive dipped bowl of topography, and at the far northern side of this bowl, in the middle height layer, was a city so large that even from hundreds of thousands of miles away, it looked unbelievable. Yet this was just the area where the high-level commonfolk resided. Instead, it was the giant floating purple palace in the sky that truly attracted Azmodeus. It was around half the size of the city, but just the fact that such a large thing could stay slowly bobbing up and down in the air was a miraculous thing all in and of itself. n/o/vel/b//in dot c//om
Together, these two areas made up the prime territory of the Eternal Jade Sect! Whereas the palace was the Eternal Palace, and was where the high-level members of the organization, as well as the two sect members, resided. However, if one looked past the numerous flying boats and immortals zipping through the paradise-like land, then they would see what looked like a thin line of brownish orange.
If one zoomed out into a bird's-eye view, then they would see that this thin line of orange actually extended far beyond the scopes of the Eternal Jade Sect. In fact, the orange stretched outward for so long that it appeared as if the entire world were 99% sand and 1% green.
"The beginning of the Lands Unknown," Azmodeus muttered in awe, his eyes shining. "If I can make it past this hurdle called the Eternal Jade Sect, then I will be able to enter the Lands Unknown and see just what the Immortal Funnel has to offer."
As he was getting a little bit ahead of himself, he had to calm himself down and focus on the present. "For now," said Azmodeus, "I need to make my way down this slope and travel another few hundred thousand miles, then figure out what I need to do in order to avoid the most suspicion when I traverse the secret passageways."
Although it might look like the Eternal Jade Sect was close, he was still another twenty or so minutes out, so he continued his trot…
Twenty minutes later.
"Halt!" an armored man shouted, his pose that of a strict watchman. "State your name and where you hail from! You are also to tell us what you plan to do in the Eternal Jade City — the jewel of the Eternal Jade Heavens Immortal Realm!"
Treating this as if it happened to him all the time, Azmodeus turned his tone cordial and concise. "My name is Amon, and I hail from the Waterbane Kingdom to the East," he said. "My only business here is to find a new place to settle down and put my skills to use, rather than leave them to rot in the barren land that used to be my hometown."
A hint of melancholy flashed past his reddened eyes as sorrow crept up his expression, to which the stern guard responded in kind. "I heard what happened to the Waterbane Kingdom. Our very own Immortal God, Hemsworth, fought to the death with a powerful Immortal God from an unknown region. What was originally just a war between two Empires turned into something where even outside powers may be at play—" suddenly realizing that he was disclosing things that shouldn't be disclosed, the Immortal King Realm Guard shook his head.
"Ai, I've said too much — too much, indeed." He waved his hand in front of him and moved out of the way. "Feel free to head on in and apply for temporary residency. This devastating war has taken a lot from many, and as such, the Hegemony of this world has decided to permit refuge as long as good behavior is shown."
Azmodeus wasn't one to deny an easy pass, so he cordially nodded his head before passing by the guard. "Thank you very much."
"No problem; just try not to get into too much trouble."
"Will do."
