Chapter 15: Which Side Do You Choose

"So you understand why we still struggle in this war with the humans and are hiding in different sectors on Earth," Nyx said as Hael gave repeated nods.

"Now that you know the reason behind the war, I want to ask you a very important question that changes everything..." Nyx said as she rose up from her sitting position and her dark eyes looked at Hael, the dark vortex in them slowly beginning to revolve.

It was a sign that Hael took to represent her shifting back to her beastly form.

"You just came to this world 5 hours ago, meaning you have no affiliation with the humans or the Eldritches. Which side do you wish to join in this war?" Nyx said as the pressure in the darkness massively increased, and Hael felt his spine shudder in his back, but with an equally serious expression, he gave his answer...

"I choose none!"

"WHAT!?" Nyx asked, shocked by the unexpected reply. She had been expecting him to choose the humans, probably because that was where he landed when he came to this world.

According to the way she purposefully narrated her tale, the humans were the ones currently with the upper hand in this war, while he might have joined the Eldritch forces because she was currently threatening to rip him apart.

But never did she expect him to have chosen none of both sides...

"I said I don't choose to join neither the human nor the Eldritch. I won't be directly involved in this war...." Hael declared as Nyx snorted coldly.

"That's bullshit..."

"No, it isn't. I came to a strange alien world, and you think I'll partake in some god-forsaken war that has nothing to do with me? You forgot I have a place I am coming from?" Hael asked as Nyx raised an eyebrow at him.

"Aetheria..."

"Correct. My plan right now is to find my way back to where I was coming from. So you both keep fighting your way and seeking to dominate each other. Once I find a way back, I'll be gone from this place immediately..."

"That's funny. You think we, the Eldritch, don't wish to return back to our world? We are fighting because we see no way back home. What you want to do will only be a fruitless endeavor.

Besides, you came here with nothing but your pants on. How will you get your hands on resources to find your way back? Resources that our entire Eldritch race, after working hard for ten years as slaves for the humans, couldn't get?

You'll only be a mere pawn in this war, used by those who are far stronger and would lie to you that they have what you are seeking for..." Nyx said as Hael simply looked at her with a listless expression.

"I actually don't really care which side you join. All I know is you saved my life, and now I just saved yours too by not ripping my claws through your throat right now and eliminating a potential threat for both races.

Besides, even though you have a very pure magic essence in your body, you're actually very weak.

Once the humans find out that a human among them can use magic, which is you? What do you think they will do? Praise you as a hero?

No!

They will rip you apart, just as they were secretly doing to us ten years ago, and try to uncover the source of your magic. So stay with the humans and live in fear of your magic being exposed forever, or abandon your magic and fuse with technology...

Only our Eldritch race will accept you for who you are. Besides, your strange magic can bring us back from the doors of death, which means you will be protected like a treasure if you come to us.

"I never met you, and you never met me. Goodbye, alien...." Nyx said and in the next second, she dispersed into dark shadows, rapidly moving back towards the exit where the group climbed in from...

"That changed pretty fast..." Hael mused to himself as he looked at where Nyx disappeared to, before suddenly, thick dark veins appeared all over Hael's eyes, as dark blood dripped down his eyes...

"What the hell is going..."

ROOOOOOOOOARRRR

An intensely powerful beastly roar that shook the entire cave boomed out from Hael's mouth as horrific green veins wriggling like snakes appeared all over his body...

ROOOOOOOOOOOOAR

Another beastly roar boomed out once more as those green veins rapidly changed into an intense dark color, and his blood flowed hundreds of times faster, releasing an unbelievable amount of heat into Hael's body, whose teeth already had cracks on them, due to how hard he was clenching them together...

PAIN!!! A SUDDEN HORRIFYING PAIN THAT MADE HIM WANT TO RIP OUT HIS HEART AND KILL HIMSELF!!!

BADDDUUUUMP

The ground beneath his feet gave way, as a powerful force undulated forth from his body, rippling outwards in a circular manner and crumbling apart the various stalagmites and stalactites that covered the cave...

Hael's hands moved towards his chest, trying to grab it, but his hands automatically smashed down on the ground as if they weighed a thousand pounds and once more...

His heart began pumping loudly within his chest, every muscle disintegrating all that was present around his surrounding...

Suddenly Hael felt the pitch-black darkness surrounding him suddenly illuminated by an astral blue light managing to pique Hael's curiosity even through the horrific pain, and then he focused and finally found the source of the light.

It was... it was his forehead!

Right now, on Hael's forehead, the nine petals flower ruin was now present on his forehead, and one of the nine petals was now undulating with powerful energy...

"SHIT! I just started undergoing my first awakening an opening my first gate now. But... But it is never this painful!!!" Hael said through clenched teeth, and in the next second....

BAAAAAAANG

It was like a sledgehammer was aimed at the back of his head as he immediately collapsed face-flat, and the light on his forehead rapidly disappearing...

The last thing he heard was...

"Hael, are you okay..."

"The mission has been completed, get him back to the spaceship, NOW!!!"
