Chapter 474: Chapter 480: Let Go of Those Crystals! (Part One)
In the end, even Sao Chicken couldn’t escape the clutches of Scumbag Cat and Yang Zhen, and was forced to help them dig a hole.
So now the team consisted of Chicken, Cat, and Yang Zhen… no, this should count as a team of four, including the Great Missing Sword. Ever since the Evil Shadow Black Glutton swallowed a few Heavenly Tribulation Origins, its intelligence had skyrocketed and it could even let out a silly ‘hehehe’ chuckle.
If anyone were to be fooled by this innocent sounding laughter and assume that the Evil Shadow Black Glutton was an honest and simpleminded creature, they would be gravely mistaken. This thing was full of nonsense, so much so that, at times, it even surprised the three of them.
This was truly a case of the student surpassing the master.
“Kid, at this rate, who knows when we’ll ever finish digging!” the Scumbag Cat said. After digging for a while, he was already unwilling to continue and began whining, “Have I gone mad? I’m actually playing in the mud with you. In the past, I could have hollowed out this entire mountain with a single slap. Why can’t we use our True Essence?”
Yang Zhen exchanged a glance with the Scumbag Cat and responded, “Why are you so hasty? Are you more anxious than the emperor himself? Don’t you think the Sao Saint understands the use of True Essence? If I used the Ksitigarbha Skill, wouldn’t it be even simpler? The Sao Saint would have burrowed in with a whoosh, so why dig at all?”
Upon hearing this, the Scumbag Cat’s interest was piqued and he asked curiously, “Yeah, why not? Your Ksitigarbha Skill lets you move through rocks and soil with ease. Couldn’t you just bring us along and burrow right in?”
Yang Zhen snickered, “You only think about getting rewards without making any effort. But is there such a thing as crystals falling from the sky in this world?”
“Oh, hell! If there really were crystals falling from the sky, that would be just swell. But what does that have to do with… who the hell just hit me on the head? Come out here right now! I’ll bust your balls for that!”
The Scumbag Cat was raging, his eyes furiously scanning the ground. When he suddenly noticed something odd about Yang Zhen’s expression, he shot him a quick, questioning look. “What’s with your face?”
Yang Zhen exchanged a glance with the Sao Chicken and Evil Shadow Black Glutton, quickly lunged forward, picked up the object that had landed on the Scumbag Cat, and cried out in surprise, “Damn, it’s a crystal, a purple crystal at that. Did this just fall out of the sky?”
“What, what?” The Scumbag Cat moved closer and said, “Hey, kid, that crystal fell from my stash. I just noticed that one was missing from my storage ring.”
Yang Zhen ignored the gold-digging Scumbag Cat, looked up and said to himself in surprise, “Oh boy, jackpot!”
Faster than you could think, the Evil Shadow Black Glutton slid back inside the Great Missing Sword and guided it skyward, starting to dig at the overhead rock and stone.
Yang Zhen looked on in astonishment as his Great Missing Sword hovered in mid-air. He was taken aback, but although the Evil Shadow Black Glutton was able to control the Great Missing Sword temporarily, it couldn’t release any True Essence power. It was like watching a simple iron long sword digging overhead with a sharp clanging sound. Such a sight made him feel as though the Great Missing Sword had become a living entity, capable of fighting on its own.
It wasn’t long before the pesky Evil Shadow Black Glutton dug out another chunk of the sought-after purple crystal.
Purple crystal, a treasure even more valuable than regular crystals, was a translucent stone tinged with purple. Despite its small size, one piece contained energy several magnitudes greater than thousands of regular crystals. Therefore, it was considered a very rare cultivation material.
In the Amazing Female Warrior suits belonging to Hua Youyue and Han Yan’er respectively, each suit was embedded with a purple crystal. Those were some of Yang Zhen’s last treasures. Who would have thought that they would find two fist-sized purple crystals in such a desolate and barren place?
With his eyes popping out of his head and almost drooling, the Scumbag Cat exclaimed, “Damn, we’ve struck it rich! This place is actually a purple crystal mine!”
With that, following the odd-shaped stones around the perimeter, the Scumbag Cat climbed up and joined the Great Missing Sword in digging. Soon after, Sao Chicken also joined them, his eyes glowing with anticipation.
The two of them, Scumbag Cat and Sao Chicken, might not have been imbued with any True Essence energy, but they were physically very strong. They could almost shatter rocks with a single swipe of their claws.
For the moment, they had remembered what Yang Zhen had said about not being able to use True Essence, and so they swung their paws with careless abandon. As long as they could dig out some purple crystals, that was all that mattered.
Yang Zhen watched them blankly for a while before the realization hit him: these three rogues had actually become rich! He let out a yell, “Bastards, all those crystals are mine. Hands off those purple crystals, make way for the Sao Saint!”
The three of them shuddered and the speed of their digging increased tenfold.
With a loud shout, Yang Zhen ran up to them and, head first, dove into the crowd busily digging for crystals.
…
Not far from the combination of True Chicken and Cat Sword, on a mountain peak amongst the ruins, almost all the human practitioners had gathered here.
In front of them, there was an odd structure, seemingly an altar, emitting a radiant glow. It looked like it was made from transparent crystal bones that shone brightly even amidst the ruins, radiating an alluring aura.
This was a building that seemed extraordinary at first glance. In just a moment, everyone was excited.
The wave of terror that pierced the sky and earth emerged from this location. Obviously, this place had numerous connections with the Sealed Land’s array eye.
Outside the crowd, at another mountain peak, a creature named Qinglin was lying on the ground, fixated on the human practitioners next to the altar. He occasionally emitted a strange laugh, and wasn’t too long before a sneaky figure approached him, squatting beside Qinglin, and slapped him on the shoulder.
Thwack!
With a crisp sound, Qinglin tensed up and jumped up, ready to run, but trembling all over, he turned back, glared at Hongqiu, and muttered, “Damn it, did you want to scare me to death?”
Clapping his chest and taking a deep breath, Hongqiu had turned pale from being startled by Qinglin. He quickly covered Qinglin’s mouth, whispering, “Shhh, be quiet, there are Mahayana Phase practitioners over there, don’t let them discover us!”
Looking upset, Qinglin flicked off Hongqiu’s hand and said, “Why are you here? Did you notify the tribe?”
Hongqiu, looking interested in the human practitioners, nodded and said with a sly smile, “I did, the tribe uncle said that you did the right thing. There are too many human practitioners. We must eliminate some of them. But, if they can open that prohibition, it would be even better!”
A hint of smugness crossed Qinglin’s face as he asked, “Where’s Bai Qian? Why hasn’t she come?”
“Bai Qian?” Hongqiu paused. “Isn’t she with you?”
“Who… never mind, let’s not bother about her. You stay here and don’t move. This place is too dangerous. If there is any movement, immediately notify the tribe. Even if we don’t want anything from that prohibition, we must make it through the Sealed Land!”
Hongqiu nodded, hesitated for a moment, then asked, “What… what’s in this place?”
Qinglin glared at him, full of rage: “Who am I supposed to ask if not you? Can’t you be more observant?”
Thrum!
A wave, similar to a fetal breath, suddenly passed by, and everyone, including Qinglin and Hongqiu, changed color.
“Not good!”
Hongqiu exclaimed, hastily laying flat on the ground. He took a deep breath and swiftly buried his head into the ground.
Qinglin grunted, stumbled back a few steps, and with a horrified expression, looked at the multitude of human practitioners.
Thud!
Amid this wave fluctuation, the first human practitioner fell unexpectedly, followed by the second, then the third.
Thud, thud, a series of practitioners fell, and all the remaining practitioners were terrified, glancing at each other in horror. Someone yelled, “Not good!”
Boom!
The entire altar exploded with a violent wave.
