Chapter 1020 A question that answers
[Rein's POV: ]
"Good luck."
"You too."
Nodding at each other with confidence and a positive look, we entered the gate that transported us to our test zones.
"Hmmm…"
And it wasn't a group testing zone but an individual one like the one we had on the first day so, this was good.
At the very least this was something I can look forward to since, as the previous tests, most of the contents of this test should also be theory based.
'I was getting lucky for the past few papers with most of the questions. They were pretty doable, and since many of them were also theory based, thanks to my eyes, I could somehow read the answers of those theory questions right above the question screen.
I don't know how it happened, I don't even know how it was possible, but regardless of 'how' it might be happening, I was getting the answers or at least a reference to the answers so I was in a better position than I might have been without the eyes.
[The test will begin in 3 minutes. Please be prepared.]
"Oho? Giving me time to prepare myself? How considerate."
The test area for me this time was a simple looking empty room with a wooden floor, a calm atmosphere, and a good enough environment.
It wasn't anything fancy, but there was a bed here, as well as a few drawers and shelves around me. There were also a few unique looking things here but that wasn't important for now.
"What kind of test will it be?"
Thinking about it, there should be some kind of practical questions included in this test since it's about magic engineering and since Uncle El might have helped with the creation of this paper, there should also be some unique kind of questions that would confuse me.
'Plus the nature of this field makes it a much more diverse application voice so, hopefully I will have some theory questions as well.'n/o/vel/b//in dot c//om
The timer was ticking down slowly, which was a new thing for me since most of the tests before this one had started as soon as we entered the test are or when we flipped a paper that was presented to us.
But this small gap was a new thing.
Perhaps… it might be some kind of tactic they are using as well? Perhaps?
[The test will now begin.]
A blue magical screen appeared before me and I blinked at the screen, knowing well how it was going to show some unique question right off the bet.
However, I did not think the question would be like this…
[Create something that represents all the machine and technological understanding you have gained in your time in the academy until now. Additionally, answer certain questions that will be asked during your creation process.]
[2:57:51]
The timer that started did not count the first three minutes that I had received as a prep time… I should have guessed that much.
"Hmph."
It wasn't me who asked for that time, they gave it to me without any choice. But, anyway…
"Creating something out of all the knowledge I have gained. Hmmm. Hmmmmmmm. This is going to be tough."
I sat down on the bed after looking under the bed and finishing a toolbox that contained a few useful tools.
Then I checked the other shelves and drawers for whatever they might have and found a few useful materials like stones, metal chunks, and even a couple of parts that will be useful later on.
I had access to my storage space and storage items, so that will be helpful as well. Lastly, there were a few doors attached to this room so I opened them, and surely, there was a material processing room behind each of these doors.
'There is a forge, there's a room with a high tech laser cutter, and there is a room filled with heavy tools.'
Ultimately, I have pretty much everything I might have needed in case I was going to create anything representing more than eight years of my time in this academy. This wasn't going to be a simple creation process since it's up to me what I want to create, and since they didn't ask what I need to create either, I have freedom to make anything I want.
'This means that the answer that I will give will depend on the creation process and the final product.'
They might have to judge it from various perspectives, but what I have to do is simple.
"Let's get started then."
I have to make something that will represent my learning in all this time. And since this is about magic engineering, I know I cannot make something that would be more of an art piece than a test answer.
'This is a magic engineering paper so I have to make sure I make something that's related to this subject.'
I could go out of my topic and make something that would look pretty and showcase my entire life's experience, but what they have asked me to do is pretty specific.
So, I at least know what they want from me.
"A question that answers…"
This question wasn't asking me what I was supposed to be but telling me directly what it wanted from me.
It was also written in a simple language. Unlike many questions that I have faced before in the other tests, this is pretty unambiguous and straightforward.
"Branwen."
-Oooooooong.
[{ Yes, master. }]
"Help me with a few things, please."
I didn't know what I was going to make yet, but whatever I make will need some parts and some tools so first, I asked Branwen to gather those tools and parts as I sat down on the ground with a large piece of paper and a pen.
"It should encompass everything I have learned so even if it's not exactly a practical machine, as long as it does something, it should qualify as acceptable."
It wouldn't really matter if it's not highly complex or does not represent the complex things that I've learned since the question specifically asked me to create something representing what 'I' have learned.
And, whatever I have learned is the most simplified version of everything that has been taught to us.
'That's simply how I learn. By breaking things down in their simplest form.'
And, if I can represent that technique in this thing as well, I'll have a better chance of showing my 'learning' until now.
It wouldn't be an easy thing. There will be difficulties with the application itself since being with my dear darling has taught me quite a bit in these last few months.
Especially after Lakmer, he got a little too serious with his tech stuff and started going crazy after things that were simply beyond my understanding at the beginning.
There was a bunch of things that I learned after that by observing him and from his forceful teaching sessions.
And one of those things, though not in its complete state, was the Interpolation of Large data into the smallest possible vessels.
'The base idea for my creation this time would be that: creating something small that contains something much greater than its limited size.'
It would be similar to creating spatially expanded items but unlike those storage devices, this was going to be a complete tech— a small scale tech that had most of its working parts inside of it in a spatial area.
"Alright."
To create this, I won't be needing spatial magic itself. The technique that produces this effect, as we have learned in some of the classes, will utilise the stringuler Manablock technology.
'I won't be using the basic #334251 HBD formula that uncle El used in Elio's birthday's gift hunt, but a more complex version that hasn't been taught to us yet.'
There are many things that we have learned in the classes and there are many things that we will learn in second and third years.
But, many of those things are something we already know and understand, so adding them here won't really cause any problems.
Besides, the question that was asked of me was simply to create something that represents everything that I have learned after coming to the academy in the context of magic engineering.
It wouldn't be an easy thing at all, but I can make it work.
"Since we know the answer to the question already, we simply have to make what will represent the answer."
For that, I will use the Stringular Manablocks as base with the Micro interpolation method.
With it, I'll use some unique power sources (Mana crystal) that I have on me, and create a power supply as well as a reserve.
Since I want to make something that represents my learning until now, we cannot forget a 'screen' that will represent most of those things and the creation of that screen will require a graphic generation unit as well as a brain that will run the input protocols that will run these things.
"Making such a complex thing will be difficult in given time and it would have been impossible had I not had the other two rooms filled with high tech machines, but with their help, I think we will do it."
It will take time and I might have to be in the zone to finish it, but we will do it. It's not going to be some highly complex tech or anything and since I have Branwen here, things should go smoothly.
'At least, I hope they do go smoothly.'
What do you think?
