Chapter 201 - Hoping That She Was Mistaken
At Yu's Residence, Country D
Luo greeted Uncle Damiel at the door as soon as he arrived inside their house since Noah invited him for lunch. Gavin already informed him about the check-up with the psychiatrist. Luo insisted that they invite Damiel since she wanted to observe a few things.
Gavin was skeptical, and he had every reason to be suspicious based on the footage he had seen. Uncle Damiel wanted a certain memory erased from Gavin's memory because he wanted to hide something. But it was still unclear in the video. They could find out about it in the next session, however, they had to make sure Rui could prepare Gavin in advance to counter it.
Gavin must first consult with his own psychiatrist at the palace about that particular event, which may take some time.
"It's been a while, uncle. Gavin left in a rush and he told me to look after you while he is gone or else he would bug me nonstop," Noah informed. Gavin did ask him to look after uncle Damiel because he was still Gavin's father who showed him nothing but genuine love.
Damiel smiled and replied, "Yeah. I wonder though, why did they leave in such a rush? I'm getting worried, Noah. Gavin only said that he and Brione have something important in that country and he will explain everything to me later…"
"Hmmm, how about let's eat first, uncle Damiel? The table is ready. We can talk about it later. Gavin did mention something to us and I think it's about that…" Luo interrupted with a smile as she pulled uncle Damiel towards the dining area.
Luo spied on Uncle Damiel so much over lunch that Noah had to nudge his wife to keep her from staring at Uncle Damiel. Luo crumpled her face because she knew what she was doing. Despite the fact that she was not suspicious enough, Noah was not like her, who was used to investigating people while she was with them.
While she was analyzing everything last night, something came into her mind.
"By the way, congratulations to both of you. Brione mentioned that you are expecting your second baby…"
"Yes, uncle. I'm hoping this time it's a girl. That being said, any gender will do," Luo told with a smile.
"Hmm, hopefully, it's a girl this time. By the way, what did Gavin mention?" Daniel asked Luo.
"Oh, it's about his identity. He mentioned that he is a bit uncomfortable in updating you about his real identity since he already found out about his biological parents," Luo informed. It was what Gavin asked them, to inform uncle Damiel of the truth about his identity.
Gavin said that there was no point hiding it since Duncan was already aware of it for sure. If his father, Damiel, had a connection with the man, then it only means that he was aware of it as well.
Besides, Gavin was coming out already since soon he would be known as the new King of country B.
"He found out about his real parents?" Uncle Damiel asked, wide-eyed.
Luo nodded while she studied his every expression rather carefully.
"Gavin turned out to be the son of a King, uncle. He is a member of the royal family in country B," Luo explained briefly.
"Oh, God…" Daniel burst.
"Finally, he found out about his real family…" he added, his shoulders dropped. He then continued with a low voice, "Is he coming back to them? Is this why Gavin is unable to explain why he is rushing towards that country? Will he stay there for good?"
Noah sighed. He could feel how downcasted and downhearted uncle Damiel was. He still could not believe that someone like him had a connection with Duncan. He was a witness to uncle Damiel's sincerity as a father to Gavin. Surely he was someone who would not harm Gavin. However, why would he want Gavin to forget about what happened on that day when they last saw each other?
All of them were dying to find out as to what it was about, but he doubted Gavin would have enough time to visit his doctor since his schedule would surely become hectic due to the coronation and duties he would soon face as King.
"We are not sure yet of his plans, uncle, but he needs to go there since he has a duty as a new Prince… His father wanted to introduce him to his people. Gavin is willing to embrace his real identity…" Noah explained.
"I should be happy for my son that he finally found his real family but… I can't help it, I'm worried. I fear that Gavin might leave me. When he was gone for a year, I felt like I lost half of my life. I love my son that the thought of losing him is just so unbearable," Damiel gloomily expressed.
"Gavin will not do that to you, uncle Damiel. Of all people, you know him better. Gavin loves you too as his father and I'm sure that him embracing his new identity doesn't mean that he will cut ties with you, uncle. It's just him gaining an additional family in his life…" Luo explained.
Damiel sighed and whispered, "Yeah Gavin is a very good man. I'm really proud of how he grew up to be a good person. I know I'm just being paranoid. I'm sure my son will not abandon me like what I am fearing."
"That's right, uncle. Gavin loves you. Besides, he already recalled some of his time with you. He will definitely not abandon you." Noah said, reassuring Damiel that Gavin would not leave him for good.
The lunch went well and Luo prepared some teal for the two men. She looked at the utensils Uncle Damiel used then sealed it all in a secure plastic bag. Although it would be difficult to collect Duncan's sample, she still wanted to check on something.
She noticed something but she was hoping that she was mistaken…
