Legacy of the Dark Sage

Chapter 1212 Escalate

"You—! What are you doing? Are you rebelling against Lady Estrid?"

Someone from Estrid's side shouted as the mages brought by Marigold prevented them from destroying the Void Sphere.

Instead of answering, Marigold's side took out potions and threw them toward the sphere. The bottle shattered upon contact with the sphere's surface, and the content spilled all over it. Following this, the cracked surface started to mend, surprising not only the other side's mages but also Kyran.

'How...?'

Wait.

Kyran was suddenly reminded of his conversation with Euan about how he developed his Potion magic. Cyneah also created a similar concept with her Alchemy while staying in Somuli. However, she focused mainly on enhancing her control over the Soul energies from the dead so she could feed them to the Macabre Glacier's sentient.

Putting these two thoughts together, it was not wrong to think that Cyneah asked Euan to teach her about his Potion magic so she could combine it with her Alchemy concept. And the result of her study was the potions Marigold and her people were using.

Currently, only a few people in Kyran's circle understand the actual workings of his Void Domain. Most assumed his domain prevented anyone caught in its range from using magic because of the Void's nature of nothingness. This was technically correct because the Void domain stops the circulation of magic energy within its area of effect.

To be honest, Kyran was also affected by this. However, he could counter-void the domain's effect because of the Void's other nature— creation from nothingness. Because of this, he could cut himself free from Estrid's tails using his magic. It was also because of this that he managed to summon the Void Sphere that imprisoned Estrid, Reynard, and the two other mages.

However, if one were smart enough to scrutinize Kyran's domain, one would realize that his domain did not completely remove the existence of magic energy. If it did, then even the magic energy reserves that mages had in their bodies would have been drained out of them. When that happens, then forget about not being able to use magic.

With their magic energy removed, they would have already suffered from an energy drain and died.

Considering this, one could counter his domain by using magic attacks or items that do not require one to activate by circulating magic energy. One good example of this was potions.

Potions were made out of ingredients full of magic energies. A mage only needed to drink them for it to take effect. While manually circulating the potions in their body allowed them to absorb the potion's effect faster, even without doing so, they would have been able to absorb the potion just fine.

In some cases, one could fully absorb the potion's efficacy if they circulated it properly within their body, but that would only be the case with support-type potions.

In any case, Cyneah seemed to have understood how Kyran's Void Domain worked and used it when she gave Marigold those potions.

To clarify the situation, Kyran still did not know the Crepuscule Clan's situation nor Marigold's true identity. What he knew— or, to be accurate— recognized was the potions that Marigold and her people threw.

Kyran knew they were Cyneah's potions simply because he had watched her concoct potions and pills so many times that he could recognize them just by the scent they emitted or the color they had.

But putting aside all other things, Kyran appreciated how Cyneah managed to read far ahead of the situation and even gave Marigold and her side potions that could help him. She could have just asked them to help him. However, she gave them potions that could give them an advantage while fighting in an environment that did not allow them to circulate magic energy.

Considering these, Kyran more or less that Cyneah deemed Marigold and her side trustworthy enough. Thus, even without knowing their clan's current situation or Marigold's true identity, he already guessed the truth and was grateful for their timely arrival.

"Leave the rest of them to us, sir Null, and please focus on her," Marigold continued, ignoring the curses and reprimands of the mages and combat mages under Estrid's side thrown at her and her people.

Before Kyran could reply, he heard a still voice that seemed to speak from deep within his soul and not in his mind.

[Mistress Sisi and the rest of your lady companions are safe. Someone I trust has escorted them to the escape route you have told them.]

Kyran looked at Marigold, who returned his gaze with a smile of relief. Even without the young fox saying anything, he could sense that she was relieved that her voice had reached him.

In the end, Kyran gave a short nod of thanks and ignored the combat mages, who started to move toward him again. He aimed a hand at the Void Sphere and, gritting his teeth, waved his hand to transfer it inside his Void World.

His action would not have resulted in any backlash. However, there were four mages inside the Void Sphere that far exceeded the level that he could handle at his current state. He might be able to endure it well if there were only four Sovereigns or even if there were one or two High Sovereigns.

But the thing was, one was an Overlord, and a powerful one at that, while two were peak Sovereigns, and another an entry High Sovereign.

Even while imprisoned, their magic influence was too overwhelming for Kyran. Not to mention, Estrid was still trying to break free. Thus, the moment he transported the sphere into his Void World, he felt his insides churn and spat out a mouthful of blood.

"Oi! Halfling! You are seriously—! GAAAH! You are truly a handful, new master!" True Void complained and supported Kyran as he struggled to escape from the combat mages that swarmed him.

"Give me free rein, Halfling," True Void told Kyran. "I'll handle our escape—."

BOOOM!

Before their situation could even take a turn for the better, another explosion outside occurred, rattling the whole plane.

At the moment, the commotion was limited in the inner city. However, residents from the outer city could hear the explosion, and the safety protocols were already underway, with Marigold's side spearheading the evacuation.

But the impact was far too powerful when the last explosion occurred. They even sensed that a portion of the plane had been destroyed.

Just as everyone in the plane wondered what caused that explosion, a magic pressure exploded from above, threatening to crash anything in its path. Everyone was immediately forced to the ground, with some of the tall buildings getting destroyed, leaving only a floor barely intact.

Inside the Inner City.

Deus and Ruin also suffered from the pressure. They were both forced to the ground; if not for their active defensive magic, they would have been forced to kneel.n/o/vel/b//in dot c//om

"Y-Your Majesty!" Deus called, recognizing immediately whom the pressure belonged to.

Ruin's eyes widened after hearing Deus. But he recovered almost immediately and directed his attention to the mansion.

"Tsk," he clicked his tongue after confirming that Kyran was still there. But then he furrowed his brows because he could no longer sense Estrid.

"Argh! Damn it!" he raged as he exerted his own magic pressure and rushed toward the mansion.

"Where do you think you're going?" Deus shouted after seeing Ruin making his way to the mansion. He exerted his magic pressure as well and went after Ruin. Extending his hands to his sides, he was about to summon some of his automatons.

Unfortunately, the pressure that pressed down on the plane from above was so intense that the magic array he summoned shattered before an automaton could even come out of it.

Deus could not help but grit his teeth. He was the one who informed The Emperor that he discovered the Void Master's trace in the Crespuscule Auction House. Thus, he expected The Emperor to go there as soon as possible. However, Deus had still underestimated The Emperor's obsession with the Void Master. As far as Deus was concerned, The Emperor was several million miles away from where he was.

He should not have been able to come in over a few minutes after receiving Deus's report.

But it happened, and Deus wondered how The Emperor managed to travel that distance in such a short amount of time.

'No... it is possible,' he thought bitterly, recalling that The Emperor possessed a relic that allowed him to travel from one point to another instantly.

Because Deus got distracted, Ruin managed to gain some distance and succeeded in entering the mansion. To his surprise, everyone inside was still able to move and fight each other.

'Wait... each other?' Ruin frowned at the scene that greeted him. The number of mages in the mansion increased before he knew it, but instead of fighting Kyran, they were fighting against each other. In the end, he ignored them and went to look for Kyran.
