Chapter 10 Monkey Lord
Liu Yong had eagerly awaited to leave the antique shop and finally granted his wish. He could no longer contain his intense excitement as he stepped out of the store.
"Oh my god!"
"A total of 6.68 million"
"It feels like a dream. I could have never imagined there would be so much money, especially from something as unexpected as a snapping turtle."
Despite the relatively high prices of houses in Huahai City, they are still within reach for many buyers. Nevertheless, Liu Yong's current plan is to prioritize purchasing a car before considering a house.
The absence of a car can cause inconveniences, but having one can make a significant difference. Additionally, the snapping turtle finds something valuable in the future and can be easily transported in the car rather than carry it around in a backpack while roaming the streets.
Liu Yong promptly acted upon his decision and headed straight to Huahai City's largest automobile market to purchase a **** G. He spent over one million yuan to acquire the car without hesitation.
As he drove away, Liu Yong thought that the driving experience of a car worth over one million yuan was indeed remarkable.
While in college, Liu Yong took and passed the C1 driver's license test. He was also able to earn thousands of dollars through participating in work-study programs.
Liu Yong hails from a rural area where his parents are still alive. Like many families in the countryside, they are not wealthy.
Currently, Liu Yong has a younger sister who is a freshman at Huahai University.
According to others, Liu Yong's younger sister is considered more promising than him. She has excelled academically since childhood and is known for her obedience and good judgment. She even gained admission to the prestigious 985 Huahai University last year.
Considering his parents and younger sister, Liu Yong contemplated sending some money back home, especially since the family faces financial challenges. At present, his father primarily works on construction sites in the county.
The thought of his father still working on construction sites in his fifties made Liu Yong feel emotional, causing his heart to stir and his eyes to almost fill with tears.
Liu Yong's thoughts were interrupted by a phone call, which caught him off guard. He had been driving moments before, and his mind was somewhat preoccupied.
"Yong, let's grab some skewers at our usual spot. I'll be waiting for you,"
As darkness began to fall and the streetlights flickered on, it became the busiest time for supper stalls.
Knowing fully well where they usually hang out, Liu Yong responded directly, saying, "I'll be there in about half an hour, so please wait for me."
After hanging up the phone, Liu Yong focused his attention on driving.
Hu Shijun arrived at the barbecue stall before Liu Yong and secured a seat for them. He ordered six bottles of cold beer and then checked the time, realizing it had almost been half an hour since their phone conversation. He assumed that Liu Yong should be arriving soon.
After a few more minutes, Hu Shijun felt that it was nearly time for Liu Yong to arrive. He gestured to the vendor and shouted,
"Boss, please grill a handful of squid, chicken feet, pork belly, as well as a dozen oysters."
When he finished ordering, he glanced at his phone to check the time and was about to send a message on WeChat. However, his attention got suddenly diverted by the sight of a brand new, oversized "G" that had caught his eye.
It wasn't just him who was drawn to it, as many other diners also found themselves staring at the impressive "G" with curiosity and envy. With its sleek design and eye-catching display, the "G" seemed to embody a sense of modernity and sophistication that was hard to resist. As he gazed at it, he couldn't help but wonder what it might represent or what message it was trying to convey.
"This car is fun!"
"A rich man's car worth more than one million yuan, awesome!"
"If he's so wealthy, why doesn't he try eating barbecue at a food stall?"
He wondered aloud, feeling a bit skeptical. He couldn't help but wonder why someone having so much money would choose to eat at a humble food stall rather than at a high-end restaurant with a more upscale atmosphere.
"What do you think, don't rich people eat barbecue?"
Parked on the side of the road, right next to the bustling barbecue stall, was a rugged off-road vehicle that caught the attention of many onlookers. As they passed, they couldn't help but glance over with a hint of envy, taking in the vehicle's muscular frame and all-terrain tires.
The car stopped with its door swung open, revealing the figure of Liu Yong stepping onto the pavement. Liu Yong's arrival drew the attention of those nearby, who recognized him as a prominent figure in the community.
As he emerged from the car, Liu Yong greeted those around him with a smile, confident demeanor, and refined appearance befitting his status.
More than everybody out there, his friend Hu Shijun looked shocked.
He seriously suspected that there was something wrong with his eyes. After a daze, he rubbed them vigorously.
Liu Yong came over, sat down, and said,
"Why you don't know me anymore, look at me like this."
Hu Shijun, who had never stuttered before, stuttered for the first time, speaking awkwardly,
"Yong...Brother Yong, is that your car?"
He had intended to ask whose car it was, but upon closer inspection, he realized the car was brand new, with no license plates attached. The pristine condition made it not a car that someone would lend out, especially considering the risk of damage or wear and tear.
Liu Yong said:
"Yes, I just bought my car this afternoon, and I came here as soon as I left the 4S store."
"What!"
" It is your car?"
Hu Shijun said,
"Brother Yong, are you Monkey Lord? You can do magic tricks. Did you conjure up this car?"
Liu Yong couldn't help but notice the expression on Hu Shijun's face and his reaction to the news, but he didn't seem to mind. He smiled slightly, recognizing that it was likely a lot to process. Liu knew Hu Shijun needed time to digest the information and understand it.
Liu Yong had always been good at reading people and understanding their needs, and he knew it was best to give Hu Shijun space to process the news in his way. Liu respected his friend's emotional state and didn't want to overwhelm him with too much information at once.
As he watched Hu Shijun try to absorb the news, Liu Yong remained calm and patient, willing to give his friend the time and support he needed to make sense of the situation.
"How long is this?"
"The contrast is too great!"
Hu Shijun didn't react for a while.
After several seconds, he asked again: "Is this your car?"
Liu Yong replied affirmatively: "Yes, it is my car. I just bought it this afternoon."
"Brother Yong, I don't understand where your money comes from."
"Haha, if I said I made a fortune today, would you believe it?"
"I don't believe it." Hu Shijun shook his head and said, "I believe you robbed the bank even more."
The food came up soon, and Liu Yong quickly changed the subject, "Well, the food here is good. Let us start eating!"
After speaking, he picked up a skewer of grilled squid and ate it with big mouthfuls. Hu Shijun also opened a bottle of cold beer and poured two full glasses.
As they sat together, enjoying their kebabs and beer, Liu Yong and Hu Shijun fell into an easy rhythm of conversation, with worries and concerns temporarily forgotten.
Hu Shijun said: "Brother Yong, you are the third in our class to buy a car, and you are still a big G with more than one million yuan. You are awesome!"
"Do you want to take a photo and send it to the class group to make everyone envious?"
Liu Yong smiled and shook his head, "Forget it, let's keep a low profile."
Hu Shijun could sense that Liu Yong had not convinced by his argument, and he realized that there was little he could do to change his friend's mind. Reluctantly, he gave up, knowing that it was not worth getting into an argument over. Despite his disappointment, he respected Liu Yong's decision and didn't want to push the issue further.
Not long after, Liu talked about Hu Shijun's job, "Junzi, how is your job?"
Hu Shijun said: "It's still the same, lukewarm, can't make a fortune, and can't starve to death."
"I see." Liu Yong thought for a while and said, "I remember you opened an online store back then in college. How about we continue to open an online store?"
Hu Shijun said: "If we open an online store, what will we sell?"
Liu Yong had already thought, "How about we open an online store to sell silver dollars and Yuan Datou?"
Indeed, quite a few online stores sell Yuan Datou, and the selling price of each Yuan Datou is so high, ranging from a thousand to a few hundred.
And selling to antique shops is only a few hundred, and there is a price difference, as long as selling one or two a day is much better than going to work.
Liu Yong still has more than 200 Yuan Datou, where he can open an online store and start selling it.
Hu Shijun was surprised!
"Open an online store and sell Yuan Datou!!"
"But where did Yuan Datou come from?"
He looked at Liu Yong and said it.
Liu Yong smiled proudly,
"The supply of goods is not a problem, I still have more than two hundred Yuan Datou, which is enough for you to sell for a while."
"Whoa"
"More than two hundred Yuan Datou!"
Hu Shijun was stunned by the number that Liu Yong had just quoted him, and it took him a while to process the information.
He got taken aback that he found himself muttering under his breath,
"Is Brother Yong Sun Wukong? Why are there so many Yuan Datou all of a sudden?"
He couldn't quite believe that Liu Yong had accumulated so much wealth in such a short period, and the implications of this fact were still sinking in. As he tried to wrap his head around the situation, he couldn't help but feel a sense of awe and admiration for his friend, who had achieved so much in so little time.
"More than two hundred yuan. How much is this?"
Noticing Hu Shijun's surprise, Liu Yong said:
"Don't worry, there is no problem with the origin of each piece of Yuan Datou. You can sell it online with confidence."
Liu Yong was intentionally vague about the source of the silver dollars, only offering the assurance of the acquirement of silvers through legitimate means.
He knew that going into too much detail would only complicate matters and raise unnecessary questions and that it was better to keep things simple.
Fortunately, Hu Shijun didn't ask any further questions.
