Library of Heaven’s Path 2: Eternal Destiny

Book 2: Chapter 120: Farewell

Vol 2 Chapter 120 Farewell

Silence fell over the surroundings once more.

The sheer power and terror of the Longevity Supreme had been witnessed by all. Everyone aspired to become his disciple, especially Yan Sanshisan, whose longing was nearly tangible, spilling from his eyes...

Yet reality delivered him a devastating blow. Not only him, but none of the Heaven’s Fate insights comprehended by the others were deemed suitable. And yet, a mere chicken managed to outshine them all… How did it feel like everything connected to Zhang Xuan ended up being so absurdly outlandish?

All eyes turned toward Zhang Xuan, only to see him pause briefly before resuming his expressionless demeanor. It was as if the idea of his chicken comprehending such a Heaven’s Fate was completely ordinary to him...

How could he stay so calm?!

In stark contrast to the others' reactions, the Longevity Supreme's vision darkened, and he nearly burst into tears on the spot.

He had just mocked Zhou Cang, only to find that the one inheriting his Heaven’s Fate was "not even as good as a horse"...

“Cluck-cluck-dah~ Cluck your sister!”

Feeling stifled and overwhelmed, he looked up just in time to see Yan Sanshisan, as though making a critical decision. With a firm bite of his lip, Yan cupped his fists and knelt on one knee. “Greetings, Teacher…”

“???”

The Longevity Supreme was stunned.

Yan Sanshisan, full of righteous conviction, declared, “Teacher, you just said that if your Heaven’s Fate was inherited by a horse or another animal, you’d rather accept me as a disciple than accept it…”

“…”

The Longevity Supreme’s eyelid twitched.

I didn't think much of you before, but now I see your delusions are quite impressive…

“Get lost! Who said I wouldn’t accept it?”

With a swift kick, he sent Yan Sanshisan flying. Forcing down his embarrassment, the Longevity Supreme called out, “Chicken! Come here!”

The Little Chick tilted its head to glance at its owner. Only after Zhang Xuan gave a slight nod did it flap its wings and flutter over.

The Longevity Supreme gently stroked it, instantly sensing a warm, identical power flowing from within the chicken, soothing and comforting.

There was no need to guess—it was indeed the Heaven’s Fate of Life and Death!

After waiting so many years, unable to find anyone capable of inheriting it, it had been comprehended by a chicken…n/ô/vel/b//jn dot c//om

“What’s your name?” asked the Longevity Supreme.

“Cluck-cluck-dah!” The Little Chick nodded.

Zhang Xuan translated, “Its name is Huang Sisi.”

“???” The Longevity Supreme looked utterly confused.

Zhang Xuan scratched his head, a bit embarrassed. “Apologies, Sisi is my beast pet…”

“Beast pet?” The Longevity Supreme’s vision darkened even further.

Frustrated but unable to say much, he could only nod reluctantly. “I wish to take it as my disciple and have it inherit my legacy. You… don’t mind, do you?”

“Of course not!” Zhang Xuan shook his head repeatedly.

Having someone of such stature mentor the Little Chick was undoubtedly better than teaching it himself.

“Good…” The Longevity Supreme heaved a sigh of relief. Not wanting the others to focus on him any longer, he turned and instructed, “I’ve made my choice; now it’s your turn to pick.”

“Yes!”

The group following him finally stepped forward. Only then did Zhang Xuan notice that these individuals, though unassuming in appearance, were all experts on par with Miao Hengsheng.

As they entered, the room’s atmosphere seemed to solidify.

Yan Sanshisan's eyes lit up with hope once again…

With so many present, surely he had a chance!

Half an hour later.

Sitting in a corner, tears streamed down his face uncontrollably.

He had thought himself unrivaled in talent, that these experts would surely notice him and accept him as their disciple. But in the end, he had merely served as a palette for comparison…

Liu Yang, Yuan Tao, Lu Chong, Wei Ruyan, Zhang Jiuxiao, Kong Shiyao, Shan Xiaotian, and Bai Ruanqing—all were chosen as disciples, welcomed as inheritors…

And he could only watch as his hopes crumbled inch by inch.

“Now that everyone has found their inheritor… this matter is concluded. Let’s go!”

The Longevity Supreme had grown familiar with the Little Chick by this point. Realizing it wasn’t just an ordinary chicken, he finally relaxed, satisfaction growing in his gaze.

“Yes!”

Zhou Cang and the others nodded simultaneously.

Having searched for a successor for ten years, not even pausing to eat the Seven-Segment Bug they’d been hunting, their arduous task had finally come to an end.

Dong, dong, dong!

At that moment, the great bell above rang out feebly once more.

Shi Yunjing, already numb, looked up and saw two figures walking toward them.

They were two elderly men, hair and beards snowy white, their presences restrained. They seemed more like ordinary janitors sent to clean the Destiny Hall than imposing figures.

“May I ask who you’re looking for, Seniors…”

Although he couldn’t sense their strength, Shi Yunjing dared not act rudely. Before he could finish, the once arrogant Longevity Supreme strode forward, his haughty demeanor replaced by nervous humility. Bowing deeply, he greeted, “Greetings, Source Hall Master, and Temporal Saint!”

“Source Hall Master?”

Shi Yunjing trembled violently.

He didn’t know who the Temporal Saint was, but there was only one Source Hall Master in existence—the Head of the Destiny Hall!

He’s… he’s actually here?

“Hmm.”

The Source Hall Master nodded. Before anyone could react, Shi Yunjing felt his mind go blank. In an instant, he completely forgot what he’d just heard. Looking again at the elderly figure, he was filled with confusion. “Who… is that?”

The Source Hall Master had erased all memory of him in an instant.

Even Zhang Xuan was briefly disoriented. However, the Library of Heaven’s Path quivered faintly, clearing his mind swiftly.

Of course, he didn’t show any sign of this, pretending he too had forgotten everything.

“Is the Source Hall Master here to seek an inheritor?” the Longevity Supreme asked tentatively.

“Yes.”

The Source Hall Master nodded.

“May I ask who it is?” The Longevity Supreme was curious.

The Destiny Hall oversaw countless exceptional talents. Why would someone of this caliber come here, bypassing so many geniuses? Was he like me? Also looking for a chicken?

“It’s her.”

The Source Hall Master smiled faintly, his gaze falling on Luo Ruoxi. “Are you willing to become my disciple?”

The Longevity Supreme still needed a glowing circle to determine who could inherit the Heaven’s Fate. The Source Hall Master, however, required no such thing. As the Head of the Destiny Hall, he had seen countless Heaven’s Fates and could discern the inheritor of the Supreme Profundity of Heaven’s Fate at a glance.

“I…”

Luo Ruoxi hesitated briefly before nodding. “I am willing.”

At the same time, the Temporal Saint turned to Luo Qiqi. “Would you like to leave with me?”

Luo Qiqi nodded as well. “I am willing.”

“Since everything is settled, let’s go.”

The Source Hall Master glanced at the Temporal Saint, then at Luo Ruoxi and Luo Qiqi, and smiled. With a single hand, he tore open the fabric of space before them.

Just as he was about to step through, Luo Ruoxi suddenly retreated a step. “Senior, please wait. May I say farewell to my husband first?”

At that moment, Luo Qiqi also cupped her fists respectfully toward the Temporal Saint. “I would also like to bid farewell to my husband!”
