Lord Zhang Fei

Chapter 3

Chapter 3: Reincarnation [I]

Zhang Fei didn’t know how long had passed since he lost consciousness. He realized it might just be a short time, or a rather long time had gone by. As he was wondering, his chaotic awareness suddenly sensed a strange but powerful aura. He felt as if there was a force-field around him, squeezing his body to death.

It was as if he was about to suffocate to death.

“This is agonizing. Where am I? Am I dead? Is this heaven or hell?” Zhang Fei asked himself in apprehension. He tried to open his eyes in order to check his surroundings, but couldn’t open them.

Instictly, he took a deep breath, trying to calm his mind, but found that he couldn’t breathe at all. Wei was shocked and began to struggle in panic, but his hands and feet seemed to be bound by something. They couldn’t stretch out in anyway.

While struggling, Zhang Fei vaguely heard the voices of women screaming. The voices sounded so close, yet so far. He couldn’t help but be shocked. “Damn it. Is this really hell? What kind of sin did I do to have to suffer like this?”

But then, he thought, since he was dead, he shouldn’t be suffocated to death again, should he?

As soon as his mind suddenly calmed, Zhang Fei gradually gave up the struggle. He looked for the direction of the vaguely screaming voice of the woman closer to him, and subconsciously squeezed forward, towards it.

The fierce wind seemed to blow everything in this world. The rolled-up sand and dust made the originally clear sky of this world to appear dim in an instant. The blazing spirit star shining on the earth turned into a huge silver disk behind the dust. And beside it, was a black disk as thick as a heaven’s pillar, formed by the obsidian black star.

A lonely small tribe on the edge of the forest was struggling in the wind at this time. Such a small tribe with only dozens of dwellers was the most common and lowest-ranking existence on the Wuzhen Spirits Continent.

At this moment, in this small clan, a strong and handsome man was pacing around anxiously, the brows of his resolute face were knitted together in concern.

“Matriarch, hold on, the baby will be out soon.” The midwife’s encouragement came from the inner chamber of the man where a woman lay in childbirth’s labour.

This tribe was known as the Cloudfall Tribe, and this man who was anxiously waiting was the patriarch of the Ironwood tribe, Zhang Mu Tuo. Hearing the voice of the midwife, Mu Tuo finally stopped pacing as the time had finally come. His wife was about to give birth? Mu Tuo’s banging heart finally found peace.

But at this moment, a panic shout suddenly came from outside the hut. “Patriarch, it’s not good! Come out and have a look!”

Mu Tuo’s heart jerked in panic. After a moment of hesitation, he walked out of the hut. Although the wanton wind was no longer as violent as before, Mu Tuo was surprised to find that the originally yellow sky had turned into a dark night.

More so, the silver-gold star that should have appeared all night was now being overshadowed by endless darkness which occupied the entire sky.

And behind the Sacred obsidian star, the huge blazing spirit star could only reveal a circle of silver edges under the obscuration of the Sacred obsidian star, as if putting a silver coat on the Wuzhen obsidian star. The two stars were bound for collision, one way or another.

A few seconds later, when the Wuzhen star and the blazing spirit star collided, an enormous world-splitting thunder suddenly rumbled and exploded in the sky.

All the tribesmen suddenly knelt on the ground in shock, kowtowing to the sky in a worship.

“The supreme Jade Emperor, please take back your endless anger and forgive your loyal people.” A wrinkled old woman took the lead in shouting, her body covered in magical items.

Mu Tuo had seen this kind of situation only once in his entire life, and he couldn’t help but furrow his brows, watching the surrounding movement vigilantly.

The people of the tribe were all kneeling on the ground at this time, begging for heaven’s forgiveness together with the unique tongue of the tribe. Mu Tuo chanted words and kept chanting unintelligible spells. Accompanied by the constantly exploding sky thunder, the atmosphere was strangely worrisome.

The sky exploded for a full quarter of an hour. At the beginning, it was more frequent. Slowly, the interval between the explosion of the sky thunder became longer and longer, but louder and louder! Later, it only exploded once in every miinute or two.

Fortunately, the sky thunder only occurred in mid-air and didn’t come closer to the ground. Otherwise, let alone Mu Tuo’s small tribe, tribes that were several times larger would be wiped out in a single moment.

In the interval following the sky’s thunderous explosion, a loud cry of a baby suddenly came from the inner chamber of the hut. Then the midwife’s voice rang out. “She has given birth to a son!”

Mu Tuo looked at the hut in surprise after hearing this. But the change hadn’t passed yet, and the spiritual lady was still chanting the blessing spell. Mu Tuo, who was anxious to see his long-awaited son, made two strides, but quickly controlled the warning impulse in his heart and stopped. It was always better to remainì alert to changes in the surroundings.

All of a sudden, there was a gigantic thunderbolt in the sky. An unprecedented huge sky-thunder exploded. Immediately afterwards, a stream of blue-white light fell from the sky, towards the roof of Mu Tuo’s hut and disappeared inside.

Mu Tuo and the others were scared witless to the ground by this development. After regaining himself, he jumped up, screaming in a rush to his hut.

“Da Xia! Da Xia!” Mu Tuo prayed in his heart. He was fearful that the mother and son in the hut would be hit by the aftermath of the lightning.

“So noisy.” Wei was trying his best to move his body forward, when suddenly there were bursts of explosions in his head. “Is it New Year? Who is firing this gun? Is this also popular in hell? Yes, it had to be. It’s Chinese New Year. Is the New Year’s life in hell the same as in the world? Or am I not totally dead yet?”

Zhang Fei tried to move his body forward. He thought that as long as he could break free, he would see what was going on. If he wasn’t dead, maybe he could find Da Meng and San Shun, and together they would have a good drink at night.

“Wishful! By the way, where are they?” As he gradually recovered his consciousness, Wei suddenly thought of the explosion at the fuel station, of the fierce bodies flying in the air, of Sanshun and Dameng, and of Boss Wang they had been chasing for a long time.

“Am I being crushed in Vale after the explosion? What are these sticky things around? Blood, or is it grease?” He continued to wonder if Da Meng and San Shun were still alive, and if so, where they would be.

Wei tried to shout a few times, but couldn’t open his mouth. He couldn’t help feeling anxious and being squeezed to the front.

After squirming for a while, his body suddenly felt lighten. It was as if he had escaped from a crowded space, but was immediately dragged by something. A pair of hands. He was turned upside down on his head while being lifted with his legs.

Wei immediately stretched out his hands, trying to grab something. With his mouth open, he spit out a burst of liquid. Immediately, he coughed violently, and found that he could finally open his mouth.

Wei couldn’t help himself from greedily taking a breath of fresh air. He tried hard to open his eyes, but his face was sticky, and couldn’t open his eyes. There was another vague voice in his ears, but Wei couldn’t hear it clearly.

Zhang Fei felt a little bit of tiredness in his body, so he gave up struggling. He let his body be moved around, and it seemed that someone was helping him clean up the filth on it. Wei had always been taking a shower when he was older, and he was rarely touched by others. So, he couldn’t help but feel a little embarrassed when he was passed around.

He had to try and open his eyes to see who was helping him. He didn’t know how long it took, but Wei only felt that his eyes could finally open a bit. Through this gap, Wei could only see a grey surroundings. He could not see anything clearly, but he could still see something moving.

Again, there was a vague voice in his ears, but he still couldn’t hear what or who it was.

“Is it Da Meng? Is it San Shun? Are they all alive?” Wei wanted to shout, but there seemed to be something stuck in his throat, and he couldn’t make his voice heard. He only made some babbling sounds.

After struggling for a while, Wei suddenly realized that his eyes were finally opened. He couldn’t help opening his hands, and shaking them before his eyes. He could see clearly now. He couldn’t help being overjoyed, and then tried to grab the shadow in front of him.

Then, the voice in his ears became clearer and clearer. It was true that someone was talking, but Wei couldn’t understand a word of it. He wondered if it was a foreign rescue team there to save him.
