Chapter 146: Gatling Buddha
“The developers are incredible!” Shu Yichao sniffled on the city walls. “They made even an iron-blooded guy like me tear up.”
“Oi, grandson! What are you doing?” Miazova descended on the city wall. It noticed the tears flowing down Shu Yichao’s cheeks and mocked, “Aww, is our cute widdle grandson cwying? Do you want me to give you a big huggy wuggy?”
“Scram!” Shu Yichao flicked his middle finger at Miazova. “Son, are you itching for a beating? Tsk!”
Silence loomed for a few seconds as Miazova eyed the bittersweet reunions happening below.
“I’ll concede that you’re better than I thought. I’d have never considered reaching out to the Anxi military ghosts…”
“Are you finally seeing daddy’s greatness?” Shu Yichao replied nonchalantly as he surveyed his newly-conquered city.
Miazova rolled his eyes before continuing on, “You should get it now, right? You shouldn’t charge blindly into the enemy ranks next time. You might be strong, but it’ll be all for shit if you can’t even breach the enemy’s defense.
“As the commander and a mage, you should be content with sitting on the back lines! If you really want to kill some enemies, you can start learning some spells instead.”
It would be much safer if Shu Yichao bombarded the enemies from a safe distance away.
“Nonsense!” Shu Yichao glared at Miazova like a cat whose tail was stepped on. “A man should confront his enemies face-on! Not even dogs will learn magic!”“…” Miazova stared at Shu Yichao.
I’ve never seen him reacting so strongly before.
Moments later, it asked, “Did you struggle to learn magic?”
Shu Yichao’s face turned crimson. Veins popped out from his temples, and he angrily retorted, “How can you besmirch me like that? I wouldn’t struggle with mere magic! It’s just that I haven’t rolled a suitable one yet…”
Miazova got it.
“I was just asking. Didn’t expect to hit the bullseye. But…”
It was baffled by how Shu Yichao had learned such powerful necromancy, only to struggle with ordinary spells. “…it really doesn’t make sense at all.”
Shu Yichao’s vein popped.
He went on a tirade ranting about all sorts of nonsense, like ‘my luck is under’ and that ‘RNGesus will be on my side very soon’. Miazova rolled on the ground, laughing nonstop.
Then…
“Hm? Mission reward?”
Shu Yichao’s eyes lit up. A speck of light radiating incredible brightness appeared in his hand.
“What is this?”
“Woah hoh! Here comes my divine artifact!” Shu Yichao was overjoyed.
This mod has a ridiculous drop rate. I have already eliminated several key targets, but I haven’t gotten anything useful yet. Finally, I’m going to get my hands on a divine artifact!
Just as Shu Yichao was about to forge a divine artifact, something suddenly came to his mind.
“My luck has been shitty here so far…”
He thought about what had happened thus far.
He drew a talent—it boosted his army’s morale.
He obtained a divine artifact—it was a morale boosting artifact.
He learned a spell—it was a fucking army morale boosting spell!
It was one thing if he was playing other races, but he was leading an army of undead right now! That made morale a completely useless concept to him!
“Argh!” Shu Yichao clutched his hair.
If I use the Heart of Sentimentality right now, will I get some trashy Morale +1 item?
After some thought, Shu Yichao turned to Miazova.
“Why are you looking at me?” Miazova was bewildered.
“My son, how’s your luck?”
“My luck?” Miazova pondered about it before laughing in self-derision. “If it’s just me, I guess it’s still pretty decent. I have been sneaking from place to place, but I haven’t been caught so far.”
In a way, it was incredible how a weaker demon like him hadn’t been caught sneaking from world to world. If there was a Goddess of Luck, she must have been granting him additional luck as compensation…
“Great!” Shu Yichao’s eyes lit up. “Here, help me forge a divine artifact.”
Miazova’s face warped in shock the moment it received the Heart of Sentimentality.
This fellow… what in the world did he just give me?!
Holy smokes! This is an item that allows one to safely gather the world’s essence and forge it into something else! In all the worlds I have been to, such items are the most valuable of all!
As different worlds follow different laws, more often than not, the items that are brought over can’t be used at all.
But this item allows one to immediately obtain a treasure that can be used in the current world! Needless to say, it’s a priceless treasure!
If I can get something similar as compensation for my summoning, it would be so worth it!
For an instant, Miazova felt the urge to rip space open and flee with the Heart of Sentimentality.
It was like a golden brick had been entrusted in the hands of an ignorant child. His conscience as a demon would ache if it didn’t steal this treasure!
But… looking at Shu Yichao’s glowing, expectant eyes, Miazova couldn’t bring itself to do it.
Tsk. No wonder I keep getting mocked by my brethren. I’m really a failure.
Miazova quietly sighed before tossing the Heart of Sentimentality into the sky.
Weng!
A light breeze swept across the surroundings, then a light pillar suddenly pierced through the clouds, bathing the world in its radiance.
Shoosh!
Shoosh shoosh shoosh!
Black lotuses drifted toward the light pillar, creating a divine yet eerie sight.
“…What’s that?” Abbot Palkyi was shocked to see the light pillar and the black lotuses dancing gracefully around it. “Did a powerful artifact appear? Wait… black lotuses? Is this the true meaning behind Buddha’s revelation?”
The black lotuses were sucked into the light pillar, and the light pillar dispersed to reveal a massive black lotus floating in mid-air.
“It’s a black lotus!” Shule’s residents exclaimed.
“Is a Buddha going to descend to the mortal world?”
The black lotus suddenly contracted before suddenly whizzing down into the city.
Pah!
An item fell into Miazova’s hand, and it inspected the item. It was a faintly-glowing, black-silver crown shaped like a black lotus.
Shu Yichao leaned over and asked, “What did you get?”
Miazova looked at Shu Yichao’s long hair, which the latter had not tied up to this day.
“Grandson, stay still.”
“Hm?”
Miazova first took out a comb from its bag to tidy up Shu Yichao’s hair before putting it in place with the black lotus crown. Then, it took two steps back to admire its work.
“Perfect.”
He looks like a graceful young master.
Miazova swore that even the prettiest incubus from hell couldn’t hold a candle to Shu Yichao.
Tak tak tak!
Hurried footsteps could be heard.
Shu Yichao and Miazova turned their heads over, and they saw a monk rushing over with a few other leaders of the rebel army.
Abbot Palkyi’s eyes widened when he saw Shu Yichao’s crown.
“I see, I see,” he murmured under his breath. Then, he respectfully spoke out loud, “May I ask who is the great Buddha who has descended to our mortal world? Or if anyone has received the revelation of the Black Lotus Buddha?”
The skeleton army. The blooming of the black lotus. The ability to reverse Yin-Yang and defy death… This isn’t the means of a mortal. Which Buddha is represented by a black lotus?
Somehow I don’t have any impression of that.
“What Buddha?” Shu Yichao asked. “As a Maxim, I only believe in the Gatling Buddha.”
“Ah?” Abbot Palkyi was stunned.
“As the saying goes…” Shu Yichao swayed his head as if reciting some great revelation.
“Revere and worship the Gatling Buddha, immerse yourself in uranium bullets with your six senses. 360 rounds a second, cleanse the world with great mercy.”
With that, Shu Yichao hopped away with his modao, leaving a bunch of dumbfounded people in his wake.
