CHAPTER 327
Jade nodded her head frantically like a child, waiting to receive her present.
He chuckled at how happy she was and brushed her hair off her face. Xander’s eyes washed over her face and head, admiring her lovely silver-coloured hair.
Why she had that colour till date, he could not understand it. At first, he felt she had dyed her hair, but having met her now and seen her true self, he knew she had not.
Frost’s mother and daughter pair both have the same silverfish hair colour.
“What is it?” Jade questioned after some time of allowing him to appreciate her hair.
“Nothing,” Xander responded calmly and brought his eyes back to hers. “You just look lovely. Your hair is unique and so are you too.”
“Thank you.”
.....
“You do not need to thank me. I am simply stating the truth, naughty Jade.”
Both of them smiled as they moved their heads closer, inching for a kiss.
And when their lips met, it was divine, still, it felt calm and lovely as though they had met for the first time and shared a blissful kiss.
“Come on then, let’s go inform the others,” Xander said with his face full of smiles.
“Sure. I know everyone would be glad.”
They knew just how much this news would lighten the day for everyone. It was the long-awaited union after all.
Together they headed downstairs to meet the others where the barbecue activity was going on.
The chilly night air brushed against Jade’s skin as they made their way across the field to meet the others where they sat, drank and discussed.
While everyone waited for the fish, meat and chicken being grilled to get cooked, most took their bites from the already fried chicken presented before them.
“Hey Marlon,” Minerva called out to him with a wave.
“Yes?”
“Come on, let’s plan a game while we all wait,” she invited him.
“Sure.”
“Ohhh, I love the sound of a game,” Astoria mouthed with a bite of chicken in her mouth.
“Eat first Astoria. Do not talk while you eat,” Aramis scolded her.
“Let her be, Aramis. She has earned it all. Besides, I love the sound of a game. Perhaps some truth or dares can be given,” Asia chimed in.
“With you baby, I’ll play any game,” he chuckled and hooked a finger underneath her chin as he tilted her head up and placed a soft kiss on her lips.
“And if it isn’t the love birds finally deciding to grace us with their presence,” Jay announced, successfully pulling everyone’s attention to the incoming couple.
With their fingers intertwined, Jade and Xander closed the gap between them and the others.
“Aww, her face is full of smiles,” Jenny noted as she twisted her lips in a knowing manner.
Macy and Asia were the first to turn their heads in Jade’s direction to see what had their friend all smiling.
At once Asia could guess why. It was obvious they may have made up with each other and were no longer quarrelling.
However, they failed to take note of the ring on Jade’s finger.
“You guys have made up?” Jay questioned and twisted his lips as he narrowed his eyes to them. “Spill the truth already.”
“No. Not just that,” Astoria voiced.
Immediately the words fell out of her lips, and several heads turned in her direction, hoping she would spill the juicy details and not leave them hanging.
To their surprise, Xander turned Jade’s face to meet his and pressed his lips to hers, kissing her openly.
Several sounds erupted from all around them, including gasps and claps at their make-up kiss.
However, Astoria’s eyes gleamed in the dark as she watched both lovers flex out their love for all to see.
“Umm, Astoria is there anything more or this is it?” Minerva questioned when she saw the thrilled smile on the latter’s face.
“Huh?”
“I asked if there is anything more as regards the news,” Minerva repeated.
“Ohh. Yes, but I think she is going to spill anyways.”
She kept her gaze on the duo who still shared a passionate kiss, ignoring a confused Minerva.
Suddenly Jade and Xander broke off their kiss and while still staring at each other, they lifted their hands, with Xander holding onto Jade’s left hand with his right hand he showed off the ring.
“Aaaaahhhhh!”
“Oh my God!”
“Yes!”
“Whoaaa!!”
“Aaahhhhh he did it!!!!”
The ladies around them erupted in a heartfelt cry and laughter at the surprising news.
This was way better than simply stating he proposed to her.
Seeing it in person squeals continued to flow at every corner all around Jade and Xander.
It was a moment to remember as the guys joined in as well.
Jay was the first to blow the alarm amongst the guys as he flung the drink in his hand and yelled out in glee.
Following suit, Aramis and Marlon joined in, before Sky while Jade and Xander laughed at how everyone jubilated with them.
“Hahaha, calm down guys,” Jade yelled but got her voice drowned out by theirs.
“Hahhaaa, let them be, love. It is their time to shine with us,” he said between laughs.
Her eyes held her joy in them as she watched the people she had grown to love and call her family, rejoicing genuinely with her.
Soon her eyes watered and she could no longer hold herself back and let the tears stain her cheeks and face.
The one family she thought would be here for her on the day on which she was proposed to, ended up not being here.
But life did not abandon her and gave her something good and almost better.
Instantly, Xander sensed her pain and pulled her into his embrace. “Love.”
“I’m so sorry,” Jade apologized. I do not mean to cry to ruin this moment.”
“I know, I know, love. You never meant it.”
“I miss them and wished they were here too.” She turned in his arms quickly, burying her face in his chest.
She did not want the others to see her cry in this joyous moment and ruin their fun.
Unfortunately, she forgot they were dragons and emotions could be smelt with ease. Soon enough everyone stopped their screams and had sad looks on their faces as they watched Xander pet the love of his life.
“I love them,” Astoria confessed in a low tone but was sure the others heard her.
“Me too,” Asia voiced.
“Jade,” Macy called out in a consoling tone. “Don’t cry, darling.”
“True. It may have been hard but you and Xander worked out, didn’t you?” Minerva chimed in, hoping to console her too.
“It is okay guys, she just misses her parents,” Xander explained and pressed his lips on her head.
“And I know they would have been proud to witness this joyous moment, Jade as I am to have watched you grow to this stage.”
Hearing his all too familiar voice, Jade drew in her nostrils and moved from Xander’s hug to see him.
Right now, he was the closest thing she had to having a parent and irrespective of her past, she would always treasure him.
“Arctic.”
Xander released her, allowing her to meet Arctic as she ran straight into his embrace.
“I miss them,” Jade confessed in between tears.
