Malevolent Warlock: Sin Of Eternity

Chapter 74 Schemes

74  Schemes

Inside of the main house

It looked like a massive hall supported by numerous pillars, and the floors were tiled exquisitely. The grandeur of the hall was magnificent.

"Peri, long time no see"

"How's the business going?"

"If you ever need any help, remember we are family"

While Peri made her way to the front of the hall, several members of the kentow family. They littered the hall like ants, all flattering Peri, they didn't even know that she was coming. But as soon as they heard of her arrival, they all got prepared and made their way to the main hall.

This eagerness it seemed like they were up to no good.

"All bow, the family head, the honorable Father Thane has arrived" a few minutes later, the captain of then kentow family guard announced. Following which, a fairly short man with gray robes stepped out from a corner of the building and proceeded to a chair at the helm of the hall.

Seeing him take his seat, the members of the kentow family turned their attention to him. This was the family head of the kentow family. Thane kentow.

"My sister-in-law has graced us with a meeting. Today, I am very happy. Let there be a feast!!" The short man started slow, before erupting into a gleeful cheer.

If Leon didn't know any better, he would think that the old fool was actually happy to see Peri doing well.

"Keep a close distance, and your eyes should remain wide open" Leon said causally before walking off in the direction of a home bar table.

He was going to have a drink.

,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

Soon enough, tables were set all over the hall, food, and drinks were soon made available….the atmosphere slowly turned festive.

"Hey, you're from the faceless mercenary company, right?"

While Leon was busy having some wine from the bar, a young man approached. He spoke with confidence, but couldn't hide the intrigue in his voice.

Right now, there was a small compartment open in where Leon's mouth was supposed to be on the faceless mask. This compartment was created so faceless mercenary company members could eat on duty.

Of course, it was rared seen in use, so the young man was curious.

"Yes" Leon replied the young man.

"Wow, I've heard about you guys. Staying in the shadows doing the work the rest of the world couldn't stomach, honestly you guys are my heroes" the young man beside the Leon flattered. To which Leon responded with a simple nod.

"I'm called Larth, Larth kentow." The young man stretched his hand forward to shake Leon.

"Hmm, I'm Badur" Leon shook his hand back.

(Oh? Peak of level 1?)

Upon contact, Leon was able to feel the magic pulsing through the veins of the young man. He was strong, stronger than every single person in this room from the kentow. That is with the exemption of the family head of the kentow family.

The family head was also at the peak of level 1.

"Haha, that's such a strange name, but it's catchy. What does it mean?" The young man called Larth inquired. But he was replied with a causal shrug.

"Ai, it must be really hard, working for miss Peri, can't even keep focus huh?" Larth nudged Leon playfully.

Occasionally, Leon would look back at Peri's figure in the distance. Of course, this didn't mean a thing to Leon, but what the young man was insinuating meant a lot.

It seemed like lighthearted teasing, but what he was insinuating was laced with a poisonous thread. If Leon agreed to this Characterization of Peri at any point in time, they could use it to cause trouble for Peri.

One of the prerequisites for inheriting property from one's husband in eldoria was that the person remains loyal to her dead husband. Any accusations of adultery or anything of the sort was largely frowned upon.

"I don't know what you're talking about. I'm extremely focused" Leon shook his head slowly and said.

He wasn't too bothered by their schemes, he was able to easily pinpoint all these little pitfalls and avoid them.

"You must be joking!!" At the same time as when Leon was discarding Larth's statement, Peris voice sounded from the front table where herself, the family head and several elders were seated.

"Oh, it has started already" Leon turned around and got off from the chair he was seated on. "Excuse me, duty calls"

Leon said before signalling Carlson to ready himself for whatever was going to happen.

"No, I'm not jesting at all. We are family, and we need to work together, isn't that normal?" One of the Elders of the family proclaimed. He had suggested Peri take in a descendant of the family to train on how to do the family business.

This was insinuating two things, first that the "business" was still theirs. Second, that she was to hand over her knowledge and business to some random descendant of their family.

"Hmp!! We are leaving, I need to pay respects to my husband's grave" Peri didn't even bother giving their silly ideas an audience. She dropped her napkin on the table, turned around to walk off. Mid-way, Carlson met her and led her down the hall.

"You can't just leave like that" finally, the family head spoke, and just then the guards around the room locked the doors.

Hearing the obnoxious voice of the family head, Peri turned and looked over at him with annoyance in her face. She never liked this guy, he was always so pompous and now because he was the family head he wanted to flex his muscles.

"Why don't we do this another way?" The family head said causally. Though he was angry in his heart, he maintained his composure. He expected Peri to refuse.

"What do you mean?" Peri raised her eyebrow. She knew that coming here was bound to bring trouble, yet she was obligated by family law to appear. She could only hope that Leon could handle the fallout.

"It's simple, let's have a match. The best way to settle any dispute. The strongest will win. Of course, we won't be too much. If you lose, you only have to take Larth with you to act as your business partner/ assistant" the family head said these world with a lot of easy as if it were only natural.

But Peri knew this wasn't natural…the kentow family of old might have been able to say such things, but the family had fallen.

Even the family head was only at peak of level 1 at the moment. Who would think that such a weak family would demand they settle things with a battle?

"What do you say" the family head asked with a sly smile on his face?

"As you wish" After a brief few seconds of contemplating, Peri nodded. She didn't show it, but she was extremely confident of their chances.

She had an Aquaway noble as her guard, three faceless mercenaries, of which one was a level 3 mage. There was no way in hell they could lose.

"Okay, bring him in" the family head, upon getting Peri's agreement, broke into a big smile. Her overconfidence would be her undoing.

A few minutes later, a chained up lady was brought to the center of the hall facing directly towards Peri and her group.

Immediately, the tables and chairs were moved, with the atmosphere of the hall becoming more tense.

"Ether" Leon, who was still at the side, noticed the new arrival and almost immediately got excited. This person had Ether in her eyes. This meant only one thing.

She was a warlock and one at level 2 at that

Ever since the encounter with the Warlock in the undercity, Leon had become obsessed with level 2 Warlocks. He needed to study their path of evolution to understand how he would move forward in his.

But unfortunately, it seemed like in the whole of Duan city, there were no warlocks of level 2. He just couldn't find them. He was even planning to go down to the undercity after this Mission to find some, but luck was on his side.

There was one right here.

"You can take her, right?" Peri turned to Arian and asked. To which Arian replied with a simple nod.

A level 3 mage versus a level 2 warlock. She could win this battle in a few seconds and it wouldn't be a surprise.

However, she didn't account for what Leon would say next.

"Will you agree to a two on one?, One peak level 1 and the other beginner level 1" Leon's voice resounded.

Immediately, everyone turned to look at his figure. Hid first few words shocked them. But the next few reduced the tension.

However, it still didn't make sense. Why would they bring out two a level 1 mages? n/ô/vel/b//in dot c//om

Was it possible that they didn't have a single level 2 mage with them?
