Chapter 187: Double Booster (4)
Chapter 187. Double Booster (4)
In the city of Yamakan, the place of livelihood for many true demons, there were all sorts of well established convenient facilities which were designed to serve the visitors of Naraka.
Unlimited quantities of supplies of rarity and outstanding materials, which could not be found anywhere outside of Naraka, were sold in abundance at locations like the weapons stores, general merchandising buildings, and the true demons did not hesitate to invest their money in getting them in order to ascertain greater powers.
Hence, every convenient facility in the City of Yamakan was always crowded and busy with the true demons.
However, there was one place which was especially crowded compared to all the other convenient facilities.
The statue of the demon god.
It was the facility which was synonymous to being the reason for Naraka’s existence since it was the place where the true demons could exchange all of their achievements into demon energy, thus helping them to be reborn as more powerful demons.
As a result, the vicinity of the statue was always overcrowded with the true demons who wanted to exchange their achievements into demon energy, and there were endless rough bickering as the ones at the front of the line were always rushed by those who were behind them.
However, when one of them placed the palm of his hand on the statue, all the demons in the vicinity could not help, but immediately stay silent with awed expressions on their faces.
Booooowooong.
There came crimson colored laser light which shone overwhelmingly onto the true demon who made the contact with a slightly trembling hand.
That beam of light was so powerful and spiteful that it almost made one to mistake it for splashing of blood in crimson flashes of light.
There was certain level of difference in its condition from other so many true demons which have gone past the statue.
Having witnessed it, the other demons looked at him with envy, and hatred filled stares.
The fact that such strong energy flowed out of the statue only meant that the achievement quantity which was collected by him was beyond anyone’s imagination and that meant….
‘It means that that bastard knew of a better hunting ground as opposed to the other true demons. And he is also strong enough to stay at the top of the pecking order as he competed with other demons.’
He must have been fairly well known in Naraka that the bastard’s name was being murmured from all over the place.
Intrigued, Vulcan decided to examine the demon’s capabilities in greater detail.
[True demon Powell]
[1436Lv]
[Characteristics: Evil, Overly showboating, Conceited]
[Potential: Maximum]
* True demon and the demon king of Purlu Dimension.
* He is enjoying the attention being received from the other, nearby true demons.
‘Perverted bastard. Still, he is certainly strong though.’
As new hunting ground has not been opened for the last 30,000 years, it was difficult for an ordinary monster to reach beyond the 1,350 level even if they were on the best hunting ground in Naraka.
Despite that fact, if he was a being with a level of mid 1,400 then the bastard must have certainly been making a name for himself, even here.
Of course, that wasn’t such a great point of importance to Vulcan.
What was more pressing for him was to quickly exchange his achievements into experience, and visit the book stores with the newly received money.
As a result, rather than paying any attention to Powell, the true demon, when the whole place suddenly became quiet, he pushed away the other true demons in the vicinity, and moved up to the front of the line in a blink of an eye.
Seeing this as they came back to their senses, the true demons which used to be at the front gave disgusted looks and spewed out rough talks at Vulcan, but Vulcan was so used to being the target of such vulgarity that it did not even bother him, at all.
Vulcan nonchalantly placed the palm of his hand on to the statue, and the other true demons’ attention was all focused on Vulcan, once again.
However, the ambience with which they looked at him, now, was much different than the earlier moment.
The look in their eyes when they were staring at Powell, just a moment ago, was the one of indescribable envy and desire. However, this time around, they were looking at Vulcan with malice and mockery.
Yet, that seemed to have been expected.
It was because Vulcan’s turn immediately followed Powell, the true demon, who was so powerful that other than a handful of true demons, there weren’t any rightful adversaries.
However, the next one that audaciously came forth was the one of no name, unknown vagabond that no one even knew where he came from, so it was appropriate and expected that Vulcan would be treated with disdain.
On top of that, Vulcan’s current appearance was also very messy and unsightly.
Although he has transformed into a demon king level demon by using the ‘disguise’ skill, he came as not having any proper equipment from the other true demons’ perspective, so they began to openly mock Vulcan.
“Kk, he places his hand on the statue right after Powell, he certainly does not know his place. How much humiliation has he prepared to take.”
“If you are a weakling then just behave as one and should go about the business without attracting any other’s attention, since it’s sure that he will only take a miserably tiny bit of demon energy, kkkkk.”
The crowd of demons who enjoyed belittling others to begin with was showing rather sharp responses to such a little incident.
And, that was also true for Powell who has received demon energy from the statue, just a moment ago.
‘Where did this vagabond bastard come from and dare doing this….’
Powell was born with extreme taste for boasting.
The thing that he most enjoyed as a hobby was to enjoy the envy and hatred filled attention from those lowly beings than him.
He enjoyed the acute sense of thrill that comes from gently trampling on the pride of those other true demons as he looked down, from high above, on those who were filled with conceit.
To feel that sense of enchantment, Powell has been collecting achievements as he competed with other true demons through hunting for the past 30 years and more.
However, that such moment was interrupted by some bastard who Powell didn’t even know where he came from.
With fire in his eyes, Powell looked at him as he ground his teeth.
Had they been in a demon world, he would have instantaneously crushed him to death, but this was Naraka where fights could not take place between the true demons.
Ultimately, all that he could do at this time was to watch and mock as much as he could at the bastard who was bound to collect only a tiny bit of demon energy.
‘Well, no. Even after that….I will follow him to the hunting grounds that he would visit and obstruct him. So, the bastard would never be able to catch even a single monster, for sure.’
Powell, the true demon, was promising a childish revenge in his mind.
And, there were also many other true demons which were looking at Vulcan with not too much difference in their biased stares.
However, without even paying any attention to them, Vulcan quietly waited for his achievements to be exchanged into experience.
And, a moment later.
Every true demon in the area could not help, but cry out in consternation as there came out strong laser of light that they have ever seen, as of yet.
On top of that, even the color was not ordinary.
Unlike the crimson colored light that appeared when ordinary true demons would exchange achievements for demon energy, or the blood colored light which appeared when much more quantity of achievements were exchanged, the color of light was a laser of black light as if it was the demon energy, itself.
Those who witnessed it murmured to themselves, one by one.
“What the crazy thing!”
“Not even a blood color…. But black light!”
“Such phenomena might be possible, after 100 years of collecting it, even for the strongest ones f them….!”
“What the heck? I’ve never heard of such a bastard like that one existed!”
It was so shocking that they could not even form a sense of jealousy.
They could not close their mouths as they watched so much abundance of black laser of light spewing out of the statue for a very long time.
The astonishing thing did not stop with that.
The two horns, which were on top of Vulcan’s head, were growing prominently much bigger as the time went.
The true demons lost their minds and just stared at him as they were witnessing a mysterious phenomenon of compressed growth process which equated into over one hundred years of normal growth time.
Powell was no different.
As big as he could possibly open his mouth, Powell looked at Vulcan, growing stronger.
With the expression of not being able to understand what was happening, he thought quickly.
However, no matter how many times he regurgitated his memory, he could not find any trace of the one who exhibited such a phenomenon, even among all the powerful true demons he knew.
‘But then how….In order to collect that much achievements, he has to be strong as he can be, but he also had to spend over 150 years at an A-level hunting ground which ordinary true demons weren’t aware of…. However, I have never heard of anyone like him having been in all the places that I know. Then…. A new dungeon, perhaps?’
Closing his mouth, Powell observed Vulcan with sharpened eyes.
After growing confident on his new belief, Powell decided to study the new face that has appeared like a comet, for a while.
Of course, it wasn’t just Powell who had such a thought.
Every true demon which was in the vicinity was all hungry for a new hunting ground.
Everyone covetously stared at Vulcan who was standing before the statue, and thought that they would watch his every move.
However, Vulcan seemed to be oblivious to all such attention.
Unlike slowly raising his own specification by 1 level at a time until now, Vulcan was taking in incredible amount of experience in an instant, at the moment.
He kept hearing series of notification sounds, repeating to inform him that his level was rising.
[You have made a contact with the statue of the demon god.]
[Every achievement gathered up to now is transforming in to experience.]
[Level Up!]
[According to the quest, Naraka’s money will be paid.]
[Level Up!]
[According to the quest, Naraka’s money will be paid.]
[Level Up!]
[According to the quest, Naraka’s money will be paid.]
…………….
[Level Up!]
[According to the quest, Naraka’s money will be paid.]
Without any pause, there came the system notification sounds.
However, appearing to be unable to recognize that, Vulcan was focused on the physical transformation that was quickly taking place.
Although there have been incidences at which time he acutely grew master type proficiency through understanding, he has never experienced such expedited physical growth, like this before.
In ordinary times, the growth in the physical body has been so small that the changes could have only been observed through internal coordination efforts.
Yet, such a process which made it grow wider, more rigid within less than 1 minute of time has brought incredible level of pleasure to Vulcan.
“Hahahahahaha!”
It was so pleasurable that Vulcan exploded in laughter without knowing it.
His tough, aggressive, and confident laughter shocked the true demons that they began to feel oppressed, and when they realized that, they puckered.
They were already feeling very jealous as they witnessed incredible growth right before their eyes, but as Vulcan appeared to be provoking them, they felt even more disgusted.
Of course, Vulcan did not care much for their responses, at all.
Well, it was more like he did not have any moment to divide his attention to such a matter.
After exchanging all the achievement into experience at the statue of the demon god, he sighed loudly and checked his status window.
[God Vulcan (Disguised as a demon king)]
[1527 Lv]
[Physical level: 1384 Lv]
[Deity level: 143 Lv (Capability is limited at the present time)]
Vulcan smiled as brightly as possible after verifying that his physical level has been increased by 47.
He made a fist by raising his right hand.
He felt it much stronger than before and also felt the magic power like a rising dragon.
He has been unable to execute his movements which came from his understanding in perfect fashion because his stat was deficient.
However, now that he has reached 1,384, or near 1,400 level.
He no longer had any reason to hold such concerns.
‘Ah, should check how much money I was paid.’
After momentarily forgetting about the quest due to the incredible amount of experience, Vulcan opened the inventory window and checked the amount of Naraka’s money which fell into his possession.
The amount was slightly over his expectation.
Feeling happy about it, Vulcan was laughing like a fool, but he subtly hardened his expression after realizing all the attention which he was getting from the other true demons.
Although not sure exactly, he thought that they truly had murderous expressions as they did not have good opinions of him.
Vulcan quickly analyzed a few true demons’ emotional conditions by scanning them, and he learned why they were having bad feelings toward him.
‘Nitpicking little bastards…. I worked hard, hunting, to earn these achievements, what is your discontent.’
Of course, he could not deny the big help he received from the system. Nonetheless, Vulcan thought that it wasn’t fair to be seen under such a light from them, as they have contributed nothing to Vulcan’s growth.
‘Phew. Lucky that true demons cannot fight each other in Naraka. For crying out loud, they look as if they could kill someone by just leering at others.’
Not paying any attention to their hatred, maliciousness, and murderous intentions, Vulcan met their eyes without changing his expression.
After sustaining that uncomfortable state of silence for 1 minute of time, he slowly moved, and many true demons followed him behind as they believed that Vulcan was heading towards the hidden dungeon.
After learning that through the scanning ability, Vulcan let out a small laughter and moved at much slower pace, and the true demons, too, matched his slower pace while they followed.
Finally, Vulcan came to a stop at the front of a building.
However, the place was completely different from what the true demons had anticipated.
One of them then murmured as if he could not believe what he was seeing on the building’s signage.
“Bookstore? Really…..”
