Chapter 36 - I Am Acting Stubborn?
I feel so great after speaking with Catherine, this is why I always call her each time I feel like I am losing it.
Jasmine thought as she turned and stare at the gifts lying beside her.
"Even though Lizzy might not like my gift, I am sure Alfred will love my wedding anniversary gift for him," Jasmine mumbled smiling.
Realising that she got to the restaurant a bit earlier, she patiently waited for her sister. Even when she did not arrive ten minutes later she continues to wait for her.
"I wonder why they haven't arrived yet," Jasmine said checking her golden wristwatch. She raised her gaze to check the entrance when she realises that fifteen minutes had passed. She heaved a sigh of relief when she saw a lady wearing a fitted blue skirt and a white shirt entered the restaurant.
"She is here, I wonder if Alfred is parking the car," Jasmine said as she called a waitress and place her orders before her sister could reach her.
"What took you so long Sis? You and Alfred made me wait for a long time," Jasmine complained after her sister reached her table.
"I was caught up in traffic," Elizabeth said not apologising for her lateness. When Jasmine did not probe the matter further she sat on a chair facing Jasmine. After Jasmine informed her that she had placed her orders, Elizabeth also did likewise.
"What about Alfred, why isn't he here? He needs to be here for me to say my wishes," Jasmine said staring at the entrance to see whether she could get a glimpse of the person she was talking about.
"Something came up so he can't make it and Jasmine why do you keep calling him Alfred, I thought you always referred to him as brother-in-law so what happens to that?" Elizabeth asked, her tone showed that he did not like the way Jasmine addressed her husband by his name.
"He said he did not like the title and he also said the way I addressed him was old fashioned and that I should address him by his name. I did not see anything wrong in doing that so I obliged," Jasmine said in a carefree tone.
"And why didn't he come when he promised he will? I was really looking forward to seeing..," the waitress sudden presence interrupted her. She continued talking after the waitress had left.
"Anyways whether or not he is here, I say happy anniversary. May the both of you continue to have a blissful marriage and don't forget to give birth to my little niece this year," Jasmine said as she passed all the gifts she brought to her sister.
"Thank you," Elizabeth said as she collected the gift. Jasmine failed to read her feelings at the moment through her expression. She started eating afterwards.
"Jasmine, I heard that you kicked a fuss when father asked you to work in the family's company. Why didn't you agree immediately? How many times are you going to let him ask you the same thing over and over again? Why are you still acting so stubborn like in the past?" Elizabeth asked as she continued eating her meal in a very elegant manner.
"I am acting stubborn?" Jasmine asked as she stopped eating.
"Working in the family's company, is that what you want me to do?" Jasmine who knows that her sisters request about her working in the family's company wasn't sincere asked staring at her indifferent expression.
Elizabeth who seems to be engrossed in the meal in front of her abruptly halted when she heard Jasmine's question.
"It has never been about what we want but it has always about what mum and dad want so stop disobeying dad and just do what he wants," Elizabeth said sternly as she continues eating.
"You know my strong personality, I am the type who always loves winning, I don't want to go against you besides I am satisfied....,"
"Do I look like I am scared of you? Stop trying to act like you own the world just because you have won some achievements for yourself in the business world during these five years," Elizabeth said coldly before she continues eating.
Look at her acting so proud? I am sure that the mere thought of me working in the company with her scares her a lot but is only pretending to be cool about it. This is the part of her I hate the most. I see why she and daddy get along well.
Jasmine thought as she gritted her teeth to control her temper.
"Sis, let's just focus on eating or we are gonna ruin this awesome mood if we continue talking about dad and the company," Jasmine said before she resumes eating.
Since childhood, she and her sisters were neither friends their relationship was always been neutral. As long as none provokes or challenge the other then they were cool. Her sister was always a good example of an ideal daughter. She was smart and gentle like a dove. Because of her demure attitude, her parents always dotes on her. Unlike the eldest daughter, the second daughter was also gentle but her gentleness could not be compared with that of her elder sister. She was equally smart but nobody notices that except one person.
The second daughter sheds off every form of gentleness at the age of eighteen while the first daughter continues to be the ideal daughter.
Jasmine blocked the thoughts of the past and continue eating. After they finished eating they both headed out of the restaurant.
"Jasmine, LHS contract is the biggest game contracts that always come up once in five years. With your strength alone you think you can beat about one hundred game company in the country to get the contract?" Elizabeth asked when they had reached their cars.
