Chapter 52: Chapter 52: Waiting to Become Famous
Lin Junyi was taken aback, then smiled bitterly, “Xu Yang, to be honest, not so great. I’ve been thinking lately about switching to a different type of content. I feel like outdoor live streaming isn’t quite cutting it. It was novel at first, and I had a fair number of viewers, but it seems very difficult to take it to the next level.”
Xu Yang said, “Junyi, I’ve watched your live streams and short videos and have some thoughts of my own. I’m not sure if you’d like to hear them.”
Lin Junyi was intrigued, “Let’s hear it.”
Xu Yang said, “I think when you do outdoor live streaming, you lack your own unique flair. Compared to other hosts, it’s all pretty similar. But I feel that food-related content would suit you much better.”
Lin Junyi was startled, “A food vlogger?”
Xu Yang nodded, “Yes. We’ve eaten together a few times, and many of the things you say during meals are quite amusing, including your comments on the food as well as your views on the environment and service. You say it all in such a humorous and witty way that it’s very entertaining. I have no doubt that you would make an excellent food exploration live streamer.”
Zhao Yuxin chimed in, “Junyi, I also think you would be more suitable as a food vlogger than an outdoor live streamer. Playing and having fun outside doesn’t really fit you. Eating and drinking suit you better.”
Lin Junyi’s eyes lit up, “I’ve only recently begun entertaining this idea and haven’t planned it out yet. Since both of you are suggesting this, I’ll give it a try.”
Xu Yang said, “Junyi, then you should come and sign with my company tomorrow. I’ll have someone help you shoot an exploration video to start with short clips, and once you get the hang of it, you can move on to live streaming.”
Lin Junyi nodded, “No problem.”
With the matter settled, all three were happy.
Xu Yang got Lin Junyi to sign up, and Lin Junyi found a new direction.
If it hadn’t been for Xu Yang’s conversation, Lin Junyi might not have made such a decisive decision, and might have continued to hesitate, keeping his live streaming and short videos lukewarm in the outdoor entertainment niche.
Xu Yang said, “I’ll send you the company’s address. Let’s meet at the office tomorrow morning at nine.”
Lin Junyi replied, “No problem.”
…
The next day.
Xu Yang and Lin Junyi met at the company.
Xu Yang introduced Lin Junyi to Xiao Dongsheng and asked Xiao to arrange for Lin to sign the contract.
Just over half an hour later, they finished the signing.
Xu Yang then had Xiao Dongsheng organize the shooting team.
By almost eleven, Xu Yang and Lin Junyi, along with the team, went to a restaurant to shoot the video.
The restaurant had already been contacted, and the shooting team was prepared.
After shooting the scene once, Xu Yang felt unsatisfied, “Junyi, you’re trying too hard. Just do what you usually do when you go to a restaurant.”
Lin Junyi watched the video and also noticed the issue, nodding, “Let’s do it again.”
The restaurant staff were fully cooperative and served the tea and dishes again.
After more than half an hour, they finished reshooting.
Xu Yang nodded with satisfaction, “This time it’s good. It’s very natural and not forced. After editing, this video is sure to attract quite a bit of attention.”
This was exactly what the system had said. When Lin Junyi transformed into a food vlogger, the first video he shot was in this restaurant, which was pretty much the same.
After release, it enjoyed a small burst of popularity.
After that, it was unstoppable, eventually turning him into a superstar on the internet.
Lin Junyi laughed, “Then I’ll take your word for it as a good omen.”
He had been live streaming and making short videos for quite some time without stirring up much of a splash.
This made him doubt himself, which, for someone like him, was worse than losing money.
What he needed now was a chance to prove himself.
It was just a small issue with the location.
After the shooting was finished, everyone returned to the company.
Xu Yang then instructed the editor to arrange the editing immediately.
They edited according to his requirements.
An hour later, the editor had completed the editing.
Xu Yang had Lin Junyi post it on Douyin.
Xu Yang said, “Junyi, now we just wait for the audience’s reaction. Get ready to become famous.”
Lin Junyi laughed heartily, “I am looking forward to it.”
He was very satisfied with the video they had shot.
Firstly, as a food and drink broadcaster, he felt no burden at all, quite happy, and completely stress-free.
Unlike being an entertainment broadcaster, which always felt like a lot of pressure, every live broadcast and video shoot felt like completing a task assigned by others.
It’s just that it wasn’t something he truly wanted to do from the bottom of his heart; he just felt he could not give up halfway and had to keep going, which made him very uncomfortable.
Being a food and drink broadcaster, there were none of these issues; he felt extremely happy, as if he were doing something he had always wanted to do and enjoyed doing.
…
In the evening.
Zhao Yulu and Chen Guanglei were dining together.
Zhao Yulu looked somewhat upset, “Chen Guanglei, you kept assuring me that investing in Blackstone Tech would be profitable, even more than triple the return, but look at us now, not only are we not making money, we’re about to lose everything!”
It had been over half a month since she bought Blackstone Tech stocks, and the price had risen by twenty percent.
That was a significant increase.
It made Zhao Yulu very happy, and she was quite grateful to Chen Guanglei.
But today, after Blackstone Tech unveiled new technology and had already hit the daily price increase limit.
However, a tech mogul revealed that Blackstone Tech’s new technology wasn’t actually new, but “old wine in new bottles”; it was merely adding a few insignificant new features to the existing product.
Moreover, the money that Blackstone Tech should have invested in R&D was reported to have been used by the chairman to buy antique collectibles.
As the news broke, there was an uproar.
The stock price of Blackstone Tech dropped rapidly, and within fifteen minutes, it went from hitting the daily price increase limit to hitting the daily price drop limit.
The fifteen-minute candlestick chart was terrifying.
Blackstone Tech was suspended from trading by the stock exchange, and after the market closed in the afternoon, Blackstone Tech and the stock exchange jointly released an investigation report that confirmed the accusations made by the tech mogul.
Instantly, all shareholders who had bought Blackstone Tech stocks panicked.
Under these circumstances, today’s limit-down was likely just the beginning of the downturn, and it would be difficult to sell the stocks later on.
Without the luck of an ancestral tomb emitting green smoke, they’d probably be unable to sell at all.
It was even possible that Blackstone Tech could be delisted, and their investments would surely be washed away.
Naturally, Zhao Yulu no longer showed Chen Guanglei a pleasant face.
After all, she had borrowed money to invest in Blackstone Tech’s stocks based on Chen Guanglei’s advice.
Although it was ultimately her own decision, now that she had lost money, she wasn’t concerned with these details.
If it weren’t for still needing Chen Guanglei’s father’s help to have the Southwest Business Association’s special investment fund entrusted to the bank, she would have already turned against Chen Guanglei, demanding that he compensate her for the losses.
