Chapter 236 Gold Kingdom Treasury
Alex sat in a room holding a contact badge that shined with a soft glow emanating from it, and moments later, a voice came from it.
"Adventurer, Have you acquired the [Archmage Goldfridus] legacy?" Darius asked, his voice caring no interest.
"Yes, I have indeed acquired the legacy, and currently, I am waiting for you in the Tranquil Crown Hotel," Alex replied.
"I will be there shortly," Darius replied after a few moments of silence, his voice being a bit shaken.
Alex didn't have to wait for long, and in less than a minute, the room door was swung open, and a man with long, flowing golden hair entered.
"Show me the Legacy," Darius demanded, his voice being cold and his aura of a fifth Rank warrior let loose, making the air in the room hard to breathe.
Alex placed the grimoire, Ataraxia, on the table, and seeing it breathing grimoire with a unique aura, Prince Darius' stood stunned, his eyes filled with both disbelief and excitement.
After a few moments, Darius regained his composure and reached out hesitantly, his hands shaking as he picked up the grimoire.
The moment Darius picked the grimoire, it pulsed with a unique energy, instantly making the whole room pulse with mana, like recognizing his heritage.
Darius' expression changed from disbelief to amazement, his breath hitched, his hands trembling, and his eyes widened with awe as he gazed upon the grimoire.
"It's real," Darius whispered, his voice filled with a mixture of disbelief and overwhelming emotion. "The legacy of great Ancestor, after all these centuries... it's finally within our grasp."
Tears welled up in Darius's eyes as he carefully cradled the grimoire, unable to tear his gaze away from its radiant beauty. In that instant, a rush of memories flooded his mind, stories of his ancestors' tireless quest to find this legacy, tales he had listened to since childhood.
Alex understood the importance of Archmage Goldfridus's legacy for Darius, so he kept silent and let the man take his time to collect his emotions and thoughts.
"Thank you, Mr. Hidden One. You have not only delivered me my Ancestor's legacy but a piece of my clan history and identity, and for that, You have my eternal gratitude," Darius said, his voice cracking with emotion.
Darius wiped away his tears, a smile breaking through the emotions that overwhelmed him as he took his seat before Alex.
"Now, let us discuss your reward, so ask me anything you desire, and I shall do my utmost to fulfill your request," Darius said, returning to his calm and dignified demeanor, the weight of the moment still evident in his voice.
"I want three items of my choosing from the Royal treasury, The first being the Law Core of the Ignis Phoenix, the second being the dark unknown heart, and as for the third item, I will tell you about it in treasury," Alex said, his voice steady and resolute.
Darius raised an eyebrow, a bit shaken by the bold request knowing the Law Core of the Ignis Phoenix was of a kind item, with it alone being a priceless treasure, and on top of that, Alex wanted an unknown material and one more item of his choice from the treasury.
Darius hesitated for a moment, knowing that Alex would choose the most valuable item available in the treasury, but after thinking about what he had given him in return, he smiled.
"I agree to your request," Darius said as he stood up.
Alex's eyes shined with delight as he expected to either not receive the third item or get some restriction placed on what he could take, knowing the Gold Kingdom royal treasury held the kingdom's vast wealth and most of its valuable treasures.
Alex left the hotel with Darius, and after a few minutes, he went through a portal guarded by elite knights accompanied by Lady Fianna, a trusted aid of the prince, and arrived before the towering golden gates of the Royal treasury of the Gold Kingdom.
Alex stood in silence, waiting for Darius to arrive, and a few minutes later, food steps echoed from behind him, announcing the imminent arrival of Prince Darius and the King himself.
'King Corvin Gold, The Man with one of the greatest minds in the field of business on the human continent, will be found dead sitting on his throne like a shriveled-up corpse a bit over a year from now,' Alex thought, looking at the man dressed in golden gilded robes beside Darius.
The King had a tall and imposing figure with a majestic aura and had long, flowing golden hair tinged with silver, complementing his chiseled face and piercing blue eyes that reflected both intelligence and kindness.
King Corvin exuded a blend of shrewdness and charisma, characteristics that had undoubtedly contributed to his success in the world of commerce.
'You are in the presence of the King,' Lady Fianna whispered, seeing Alex still standing tall even though the king was only a few feet away from him.
Alex had no intention of bowing down, so he opened his inventory to take out Honorary Archduke Badge given to him by the human Emperor to do what he wanted and not hurt the pride of King Corvin.
"Fianna, we can't treat our benefactor with petty tradition, especially this young man who has granted the greatest wish of the Gold clan," King Corvin said with a warm smile as he approached Alex, extending his hand in greeting.
"Your Majesty, Thanks for your kindness," Alex said respectfully, meeting the King's outstretched hand with a firm handshake.
"You have brought back a precious piece of my kingdom's lineage, and for that, I am forever grateful," The King continued, his voice carrying an air of authority blended with genuine appreciation.
King Corvin then walked toward the towering door and placed his hands on it, and slowly the golden door started to twist and turn as a massive portal started to manifest on it.
King Corvin entered the portal, followed by Alex, Prince Darius, and Lady Fianna into the grand chamber of the royal treasury.
The room seemed to stretch hundreds of meters in each direction, its sheer size enough to leave anyone feeling tiny and insignificant.
The ceilings soared high above, adorned with intricate golden carvings and sparkling gemstones that cast a mesmerizing dance of light upon the walls. The air was thick with the scent of rich mana, a palpable aura that spoke of the powerful artifacts resting within.
The treasury was a testament to the wealth and prosperity of the Gold Kingdom, and its contents showcased the kingdom's long and illustrious history.
The room was lined with rows upon rows of golden pillars, each one adorned with precious gems, and these pillars supported the weight of the vast domed ceiling.
While Alex looked around the chamber filled with untold riches, King Corvin vanished from beside him, appearing a moment later with two transparent crystal boxes floating before him.
"The two items you wanted, and as for the third item, you can take your time looking for it, and the most valuable items are placed in the center, and this badge will allow you to access the central area," King Corvin said, as he handed a golden badge in the form of a roaring lion.
Alex accepted the badge and, with it, the two glass containers, one having a floating piece of pitch-black rock which, with a quick appraisal, he confirmed to be the fourth numbered heart of the Beast Monarch.
Alex moved on to the second container with a small marble the size of his fist that appeared like a radiant ethereal gemstone, shimmering with fiery red and golden brilliance hues reminiscent of the Phoenix's fiery essence.
'Now, this is a damm good treasure,' Alex thought, looking at the information of the Phoenix core.
