Chapter 127 Efficiency
Tang Qiaolian was left gasping when she heard Lei Zhen manage to earn a gold coin.
And as much as she refused to believe he could earn that amount in such a few days, she could only accept it when the words came from him.
"Sigh, I see…" Tang Qiaolian said dejectedly.
'I knew I should have invited him to my guild earlier.' She thought to herself.
Given that Lei Zhen spent a gold coin to create a guild of his own, it would be rude for her to ask if he wanted to join her guild instead.
That would be a waste of a gold coin and she wasn't that shameless to ask Lei Zhen to throw his money away like that.
Of course, Lei Zhen understood her dejected sigh but pretended to not know about it.
'Sorry, Qiaolian, but you helped me a lot already. I can't afford to owe you anymore. Otherwise, even my next ten lifetimes wouldn't be enough to pay you back.' Lei Zhen exclaimed inwardly.
After chatting casually for the next few minutes, Lei Zhen ended the call.
And the timing was just perfect because Gerald came knocking in on his office.
"Chancellor, this is Gerald, the head of the scouting army," Gerald announced his identity.
Despite being the head of the scouting army, there were two elite guards outside guarding the office of Lei Zhen.
Thus, he was very cautious about how he knocked on the door in case he might offend the two elite guards glaring at him at the moment.
The two elite guards assigned to protect Lei Zhen were high-level and the most combat capable. This was to showcase the importance of Lei Zhen and to warn others to not mess around.
"Come in," Lei Zhen resumed his original authoritative voice compared to his casualness with Tang Qiaolian.
Gerald opened the door slowly and showed a respectful expression at Lei Zhen.
"Greetings Chancellor, my soldiers have already scouted 20 kilometers around the location you have stated." He reported.
"Oh? It hasn't even been 2 days yet your soldiers were already done scouting with the location." Lei Zhen was astonished, clearly not expecting their fast efficiency at work.
"We dare not relax when it's the order of the Chancellor."
"Heh, you are very good at flattering, but it's working." Lei Zhen chuckled softly. "Anyway, so what has the scout obtained in their investigation?"
Gerald laid down a pile of documents and revealed a map as well on the table. The map was labeled with numerous symbols such as the terrain, monsters, and bases.
It was surprisingly detailed that even Lei Zhen was shocked by some of the information.
There were places that he had explored with Griselda and Tie Longkun, but they didn't realize there was a hidden pathway and another monster habitat other than the Lizardark.
"Other than this, have you got the main key point?" Lei Zhen asked. All of this information is nice, but the crux of this was still the black mage.
Without any intel on the black mage and where he was hiding, the scouting would be pointless.
Meanwhile, Gerald flashed an evil smirk as he pulled out a document.
And right in front of Lei Zhen's eyes, he started chanting something as the document unraveled itself.
"Chancellor, I wouldn't be reporting back if we don't have the main key point of this mission. This information was inlaid with multiple securities and only I have access to open it, preventing anyone else from reading it." Gerald said, reassuring that no one else could read what the content was inside.
"Hahaha, well done Gerald. You've truly lived up to your title and ethic." Lei Zhen praised sincerely.
To add more security to the confidential information itself. That was not something other people could think of doing so given their confidence and ego.
pαndα`noνɐ1--сoМ And as soon as Lei Zhen began reading the document, his smile hidden by the mask was getting wider and wider.
It was like he had just obtained the Wikipedia or walkthrough guide on the black mage.
Although Lei Zhen didn't know how they managed to obtain such detailed information regarding the black mage, one thing for sure was that the mission to capture the black mage had just become so much easier.
Standing up, Lei Zhen fixed his collar for a moment and asked, "Gerald, would you want to come with me to a meeting?"
Instantly, Gerald's face brightened up as he nodded vigorously.
"It would be my pleasure to accompany the Chancellor."
"Good, because you're going to meet with Princess Kate, so make sure your attire is at its best."
This was the reward and the greatest reward possible that Gerald could ever ask for.
A meeting with Princess Kate at this current stage was no different than being the pillar for the next heir.
After all, it was practically known to every citizen in Yors Castle that Princess Kate would become the next queen.
"I will not disappoint you, Chancellor." Gerald went on one knee and said solemnly, similar to those knights that pledged their honor and loyalty to the king or queen.
Lei Zhen nodded his head.
"I'm sure you wouldn't disappoint me, Gerald. Alright, go and dress in something suitable." He then said, dismissing Gerald for the time being.
Gerald didn't bother saying anything else as his facial expression explained everything already. Without hesitation, he left the office in a hurry, clearly rushing home to find suitable clothes to meet Princess Kate.
Shaking his head, Lei Zhen wanted to laugh aloud at how eager and enthusiastic Gerald was acting.
If he were to find out that what he did was highly sought after by the players in Magnolia, then he might not be as excited as now.
'Gerald… another great chess piece and a valuable one at that.' Lei Zhen thought.
Taking off his mask, Lei Zhen made sure to copy all of the documents on the table and shared them with Griselda, who had just gotten online.
At the same time, he prepared himself to meet with Kate. 'Let's see how this future queen has improved so far.'
