Chapter 64 Blood Contract
Being repeatedly told that her soldiers' death and how she almost died was related to one of her elder brothers pained her deeply.
She might act cold, but she still treated them as her siblings.
And never once did she express her intention of joining the fight for the throne.
Yet, none of that matter and her silence was still treated as a threat from her own blood-related brothers.
How could that not pain her heart dearly?
Alas, her sudden outburst meant nothing to Chris as he continued his persuasion.
"By this time, you should have already realized that other than becoming the next Queen, the Yors Castle would go downhill." Chris calmly said.
He knew that Kate had long understood this matter which is why she had overreacted.
For someone that only had loyalty to Yors Castle and its prosperity, announcing her fight to the throne would be deemed as power-hungry.
No matter her justification, the moment she announced her will to fight for the throne, there was no turning back. It was either she lived or died by her elder brothers' hand.
That was the fate of a royalty.
Even the king of Yors Castle, Francis Norton could not stop this deadly ascension war.
At this point, Chris stopped talking and calmly waited for Kate to cool down.
He had done enough already and if she still refused to step up, then it'll be pointless to convince her further.
The only reason why he wanted to cooperate with Kate was because of her righteousness and love for the citizens.
Befriending such a person would only serve him the greatest benefits and profits compared to the other two princes who are blinded by greed only.
Greed is not a sin, but turning vicious and cold-blooded for greed is a sin.
To befriend such beings is an insult to his integrity and dignity as a merchant.
After thinking for some time, Kate sighed and her face turned solemn. "How are you planning to cooperate with me?"
Chris smiled slightly when he heard that question. It meant that she had finally made a decision that could change the fate of millions.
"I can supply you with military weapons." Chris lowered his voice and said calmly.
"My merchandise in this carriage is just a disguise for my true agenda. I can supply you armory and weapons capable of sustaining an army of at least 10,000 soldiers with the highest quality possible."
A look of astonishment could be seen on Kate's face when she heard what Chris could offer her.
Armory and weapons of the highest quality that are capable of sustaining at least 10,000 soldiers. With just this alone, she could be said to have won at least 50 percent of the ascension war.
"Are you being serious or trying to deceive me right now?" Kate didn't let this cloud her judgment as she remained calm.
"This is the blood contract." Chris casually took out a brownish-looking paper and smiled.
"I doubt I'll need to explain what a blood contract does, right?"
Kate nodded her head.
A blood contract was the most trustworthy agreement paper to sign. After all, reneging a blood contract would result in instant death.
pαndα,noνɐ1,сoМ No one can escape from the term of the blood contract, and even if they try to utilize some loophole to go against the term, the blood contract will still activate and kill the person.
As the two signed the blood contract, Lei Zhen, who was patiently interacting with Gizzle and Mizzle, felt relaxed for some reason.
Now that the curse of his experience points and skills being crippled was revealed to be the Ferold's Ring hidden inside his mana core, everything was finally solved.
He was no longer in the dark of what his problem was and how it happened. It was similar to having a heavy stone being lifted off someone's back.
'Once we reached Yors Castle, I'm going to have this Ferold's Ring extracted as soon as possible and return it back to the king.' Lei Zhen thought.
Whether the Ferold's Ring is some legendary item or not, he doesn't care no more. This was more of a cursed item than a blessing item.
While he was thinking of returning his status to normal, Gizzle and Mizzle suddenly halt their movement, causing the carriage to nearly fall off the side.
"What's going on?" Chris was the first one to come out of the carriage and asked about the situation.
As for Kate, she had already equipped her sword and was ready for combat.
After getting ambushed and losing all of her soldiers, she was not going to let anyone else have an opportunity to take her life again.
Her kindness was taken advantage of and it was a very harsh lesson that she had learned. There would be no more mercy, even if the enemies were sent by her elder brothers.
Just when everyone was ready for combat, a white-shining armored knight appeared from the shadows.
The white-shining armored knight seemed to be delighted when he spotted Kate Norton on the carriage. He ran forward just a bit and knelt one knee to the ground.
"Commander Scott paid his respect to Princess Kate Norton and apologized for his delayed aid to rescue." The white-shining armored knight introduced himself as Scott and apologized to Kate.
And after Scott publicly apologized, more soldiers that were hidden in the back came forward and followed Scott's action as they knelt in one knee and apologized to Kate.
Kate breathed a soft sigh when she recognized the armor that Scott was wearing belonged to the imperial guards. Her vigilance subsided and believed it was her father that commanded the imperial guard to search for her.
After all, she had been missing for some days and didn't send a message back to her father.
'Father must have been worried about me and had Scott come to check on me.' She retrieved her sword and jumped down from the carriage.
"You may all rise-"
Just when Kate was about to tell them to rise up, Lei Zhen hopped down from the driver's seat and cast [Decaying Poison] immediately.
