Modern Weapon Summoning System

Chapter 37 - Uzi For Cole

Cole and Del were back in the house. Cole was back experimenting in the makeshift lab while waiting for Del to give him his weaponry or his gun. Del was sitting down on the couch in the living room while deciding what kind of weapons that Cole should have.

Combat style-wise, Cole was a close-range combatant even though he was able to use a magical spell. Giving Cole a bolt-action rifle wouldn't be practical, especially with his tendency to charge to the enemy.

Del was thinking to give him either a submachine gun or a shotgun. Both have their own pros and cons. The submachine gun had better range and better rate of fire, that was for sure, but the shotgun had much more damage and ammo variation. It was confusing.

"Pidma, do you have any advice for me?" Del asked.

[Give Cole a submachine gun]

"Why?"

[With a shotgun rate of fire and ammo capacity, I have zero doubt that he will eventually use it like a baseball bat instead of reloading it]

"I see, what's the option that you have?" Del asked.

"Just give him an Uzi and be done with it," Del asked.

[Sure. Remaining Balance: 37562.5$]

An Uzi submachine gun appeared on the couch. It seemed that Pidma no longer used the metal box, Del wondered. The metal box was still in the inn, Del hadn't moved the metal box from the room yet, but he perhaps would pick it up sooner or later.

Del picked up the Uzi from the couch. The Uzi only had one magazine, Del should have ordered more magazines. Well, it was enough for now. Del only needed to teach Cole how to use it anyway.

Del mumbled, "How to even use this darn gun?" Del didn't feel familiar enough with that submachine gun. The only time he shot modern guns such as an AR-15 style rifle or an AK style rifle back on Earth was a long time ago when his father was still alive. Uzi just felt unfamiliar to him, just like the rest of the other guns.

[Need help?]

"Yup," Del said.

[To remove the magazine, press the button on the bottom of the grip. The safety lever on the side and the charging handle are on top of the gun. You know the rest, I think]

Del pressed the lever on the bottom of the gun. There was indeed a lever and the empty magazine came out of the rifle. He checked on the empty magazine. There was no bullet inside of it. Del sighed, the bullet wasn't included after all.

"Yo, I also need a bullet for this, well, also magazines and tactical rig for Cole to be honest," Del said.

"I want to buy five 30-round magazines for him alongside with 180 rounds of HEAP-T ammunition and a tactical rig," Del said.

There was a reason why Del wanted to buy the most expensive ammunition. Del doubted that standard 9x19 ammo would be effective against the threat of that world. For example, even .45 ACP AP couldn't penetrate Wolfie's skin.

[Alright. Remaining Balance: 35382.5$]

Five 9x19mm magazines appeared on the couch alongside a box of bullets and a tactical rig. Del put the bullet from the box and into the magazine one by one. Loading 180 rounds of ammunition with only two hands wasn't an easy feat, but Del wouldn't want to buy a speed loader to save money.

After a while, Del finished loading the bullets into the Uzi one by one. It was a long task, he should have told Cole to do it, but on second thought, Cole didn't even know how a magazine worked.

"Hmm, I wonder what is so special about this ammunition?" Del looked at the bullet inside of the magazine. It was tipped in purple color for some unknown reasons. Del could test the ammo, but it would be better if Cole experienced it first hand.

So, Del called Cole.

"Yes?" Cole walked out of his lab.

"Come here, I want to show you something."

Del gave Cole the tactical rig, he helped Cole to wear it. That way, Cole could carry his magazine more easily. There was also the fact that he always carried a small book in his pocket, with a tactical rig, he could reach that book way easily if he put the book in his tactical rig.

"What's this setup?" Cole held the straps on his tactical rig and started opening every button that should be holding the magazine in place.

Del put the magazine of the Uzi one by one, "This thing is called a tactical rig. This thing is used for carrying the magazine for you magical tool," Del showed a magazine to cole, "This thing is called a magazine by the way."

"I see," Cole nodded.

Del gave Cole the Uzi, "This magical tool is called Uzi. This is for you."

Cole looked at the Uzi, "It seems to be way smaller than yours." He was disappointed because it was not as big and as intimidating as Del's MG-42.

"C'mon, it will still kill anyone," Del said

"Alright, let's test this thing out, shall we? There was a slime that I saw in the grassland, it might serve as good target practice," Cole said.

"I agree with that, let's go," Del picked up his Kar98.

They walked outside of the house again. This time, both of them were bringing their magical tools. It made Del wondered why none of their neighbors complained about the loud noise that they made. Were they used to it? Del doubted it.

There was an even more logical explanation though, the neighbors got used to the oddity of adventurers. After all, the house where they were staying was owned by Osmond Menzie before he passed away. Osmond Menzie was guarded by bodyguards who might or might not an adventurer. That should explain it.

The grassland was empty as usual with wind breezing through. There was a slime on the grassland, exactly as Cole had said. Now, Del had to teach Cole how to use that gun even if he just learned how to use it.

"I noticed that you use this thing like a crossbow, is this the same as that?" Cole aimed down the sight of his Uzi.

"More or less?" Del shrugged.

"Good, how to use it?" Cole observed the submachine gun.

Del grabbed Cole's Uzi, "Well, first, you insert the magazine into the gun first." Del inserted a magazine into the Uzi. He then switched the safety of the gun, "Switch the safety, then shoot the gun."

"The magical tool is called a gun?" Cole looked at the Uzi and accidentally pointed the Uzi at Del.

Del pushed the barrel away from his direction, "Hey, keep the barrel away from my direction, alright?"

"Oh, sorry, I just need to pull the trigger, like a crossbow, right?" Cole put his finger on the trigger.

"Yes," Del said.

Cole pulled the trigger and a 9mm bullet containing a high explosive compound and tungsten penetrator flew to the slime. To Del's surprise, the slime reacted differently than when he shot it with .45 ACP FMJ.

The slime literally exploded on his face, splattering his face with a thick gelatinous substance. Del rubbed his face in annoyance. It turned out that the slime exploded. Del didn't think that the High-Explosive round would be that powerful to even explode a slime, let alone a human being.

"Damn, what kind of crossbow is this?" Cole was amazed by the Uzi.

"First, it's called a submachine gun. Second, it's not even a crossbow," Del replied.

Cole held his submachine gun with his right hand, "I see, to be honest, I am more than satisfied with whatever you've done for me in this continent, for that, you have my thanks, Del."

"Hey, I'd do anything for a friend, don't worry too much about it," Del replied with a smile. Cole had done more than enough. For him, he was a valuable friend and a good ally.

Cole tilted his head, "Friend, huh?"

"Yeah, I don't like calling you a slave anyway," Del said.

Cole nodded.

Two of them returned to their home. Wolfie waited in front of the front door. Maybe he wanted some pats or something. Del patted him once he arrived at the front door. "Good boy, what do you want?"

"MEAT!!!" Wolfie barked.

Del scratched his head, "Meat? Hunting time, I guess? I doubt the meat that you hunted is still in the cold storage." Del looked at Cole.

"I think we can do that, can't we?" Cole showed his Uzi to Del.

"Sure, we'll get the meat for you, good boy. Do you mind tagging along?" Del asked Wolfie.

"Yes, please," Wolfie barked.
